Clothes were sprawled across the bed as an indecisive Emily spent an hour trying to decide what to pack. A large duffle bag and two larger suitcases had dominated the floor, laying open and screaming at her to hurry up and pack like "Auntie" had told her... several days ago.

Skirts, leggings, trousers and shorts were thrown and flipped around the room. How does someone pack when they've been acclimatised to such abysmal weather for so long? Hogwarts, while it had it's dreary moments, were a breeze in the wind compared to the dark, cloudy, rainy everyday of Belfast life. Even in the summer. It would be torrential rain one day and them all of a sudden, a grace period of heat the next. And then it would be back to rain again probably no later than a couple days time.

The mess of her entire room was starting to get to her. Her healing stones sat on the windowsill, absorbing the sunlight to manifest into positive energy. She took her rose quartz and clear quartz off the windowsill and held them in her fisted hands. They felt warm and smooth. They felt great. Already she felt the frantic energy within her fading away. The power of positivity!

Her Tarot cards sat at the far end of her desk, her stones of protection resting still on top of them. It had dawned on her in that moment that she hadn't done any Tarot readings for some time. Lifting off the rest of her stones she flicked through each card, met with an illustration of the desirable and dangerous creatures that fascinated her in old fairy-tales and scary stories alike.

She scooched off some books and more clothes off her chair and sat down at her desk, picking out each card and reciting their names one by one in a pile. Afterwards she gathered them up and shuffled them sufficiently, or at least long enough where she was sure that no two cards were beside each other before she picked them up.

With them all spread out across the desk face down all she needed now was a question. With her first year now behind her she was looking for how to better herself for next year. How to remain vigilant in being the best she can be as a muggle-born witch. How she can continue to look after her wilderness friends. How to expand her mind to all she had yet to understand given the revelations she'd come to accept over the last few months; how much danger was out there and how much she had to be aware of... a weakness Emily regretfully acknowledged earlier on.

But she couldn't choose one thought over another when they were all constantly gnawing at the back of her head at the same time. It seemed there was no better question than to ask:

How will the near future change for me?

Most definitely not the easiest question that can be answered, nor is it any more unique than a bucket of clichés in a rom-com. Nevertheless, the question was transferred through Emily's whispers into her cards as she lifted seven out at random, taking her time to let the cards call out to her.

Seven cards rested in formation and she flipped them all over:
1st = Sphinx
2nd = Ah Puch
3rd = Scylla
4th = Anubis
5th = Kelpie
6th = Minotaur
7th = Lemure
Huh... Interesting...

Her gaze fell to each card one by one. After a thorough glance her eyes went back and forth between Anubis and the Sphinx. She didn't need the handbook to work out this one. Sphinx was telling her to be wise yet be curious from what she remembered in past divinations. That was "the situation as it is" now. She didn't blink. She's always curious no matter what day it was. Then again she had a feeling that wasn't all it meant; that bizarre stranger from the Forbidden Forest was still bothering her. Not a student and not seemingly a teacher either, not in the state they were in. How the hell does one just walk about in there? And undetected? At least as far as Emily knew. It was 50-50 on whether or not they were found. That wasn't going to stop her from forming her own opinions however.

Anubis held the answer to ""what will happen upon resolution."Her finger tapped against the desk surface rhythmically as she read the handbook - "[..] Take the time to guide someone who needs it. You may not like someone but you can respect their humanity or even their skills [...]"

That could've meant anything to her. A friend. An old friend. A new friend. A new rival? Her parents? Well, maybe not. Too busy married to their work than to each other, let alone the fact that they forget Emily exists half the time.

Her eyes were pensively glazed over until a shout from downstairs woke her up. It seemed the universe was communicating to her through "Auntie's" voice.

And it was telling her to hurry the hell up and pack! So with a big scooping motion, Emily gathered her stuff and threw them all into the suitcases. Can't pack it? Shove it in...!
