Breaking the Cycle of Feeling Invisible SOLO Closed

"Hurry up, now!" a woman's voice could be heard outside the door but he did his best to ignore her - like always. It wasn't as if she didn't do the same to him. His father as well. No, they more or less treated their son as if he were invisible.

Staring back at him was a fifteen year old blue eyed male with dark hair. He was just above average height for his age with a fit build. The young man liked nature, enjoyed potions and quidditch - but what else? There had to be more.

And yet he feared there was not.

Maybe he was more or less - not invisible - but just not seen.

Miles Thatcher turned away from the mirror and looked around his bedroom. He would be leaving it soon to venture off with his parents on one of their ever frequent trips, this time to Kiribati, a country in Oceania. It was a place on this globe that he had yet to travel and sometimes he felt he had been everywhere and nowhere all at the same time.

All he knew about the Republic of Kiribati was that it was a group of Pacific Islands and home to approximately 100,000 people. It only sat an average of six feet above sea level and scientists were predicting that in this century, the islands might become uninhabitable to people and animals alike as the ocean levels rose due to climate change.

To never be seen again - to not be able to stay in one place for long - to be neglected and forgotten. Lost.

He could identify with all of these.

As Miles checked on what he had packed for the trip and as he placed the canvas strap of his bag over his shoulder he realized something. He didn't have to live in his parents' shadow much longer. Graduation would be upon him in a few years' time and he could make a place for him in this world. This business of not being seen was over. He would start now.

His parents, famous and renowned magizoologists could take this trip and attempt to find a new species of magical bird that was circling the islands of Kiribati but he was going to start his own discovery beginning that very trip, extend it into Summer Camp at the London Quidditch Stadium, and onward.
