A Bittersweet Moment Solo Closed

Elizabeth looked around for the last time at her family's apartment. Today, she was going to Hogwarts with her brother!

"All set?" Her mom asked and Elizabeth nodded, tossing some of her things into an already existing pile of stuff. Turning around, she asked, "Mom? While I'm away at Hogwarts, can you donate the things in the pile? I think I'm ready to move on and forget the past." Smiling, her mom nodded and they went through the living room and out the door.

As they walked down the stairs, Elizabeth blinked away tears and did her best to smile. She would see her family again, that was certain. And she still had her brother with her. He was in his 6th year this year and she would be in her 1st year.

"Mom, do you think I'll make friends? Demy has friends but I don't." She asked, using her brother's nickname. Her mom smiled and laughed, "Of course darling! Everyone has at least one friend. If you're like you are here, you'll make friends."

As they stepped out onto the street, Elizabeth covered her mouth and nose, trying not to inhale the dirty air as much as possible. Her dad laughed and they continued on their way to the back of the apartment building to their car. Today held a lot emotions in the air but nobody wanted to release them.
