Ariam was laying in bed after the end of the school day when an unfamiliar owl turned up at their window with a letter, eager to be let in. The sound was unexpected since Ariam just replied to their parents letter an hour ago. But who else could it be? They thought as they got up to open the window and get the letter. The owl, after being let in and delivering the letter to Ariam, flew over to their desk and landed on it as if it wanted them to reply right now. Ariam, confused and curious, finally opened the letter and read it. They couldn't help but smile at the proposed idea and eagerly sat down by the desk and started writing a letter back. My name is Ariam, I am a first year student at Castelobruxo, incase you didn't know it's in south America, right in the Amazon rain forest. I would love to be your "magic-pal', though I think the term would be "quill-pal"? Since wizards use quills instead of the pens muggles use. So about me, I'm Chilean and I play piano pretty well, at least I think so. My favourite subject is definitely charms cause it's my best subject, it just feels good you know? Potions is my worst, for some reason I just don't seem to have any talent in it. I live in a town called Puerto Octay with my parents and my two younger siblings, a boy and a girl, they're twins. This is actually the first time I met anyone from Uagadou so I'm quite curious, what's it like there? And also do you play quidditch or something? I'm trying to be a Duelist cause I'm not very good on brooms even though my mom was a broom Racer. And I hope this letter reaches you well! Normally Ariam wouldn't be this excited just to write a letter, but it's not everyday you get a letter from the other side of the world. They gave the finished letter to the owl and watched it fly away, back to Uagadou. Ariam couldn't help but be excited, probably too excited, for the next letter.

The letter went somewhere! Met someone! Someone replied! Zyair was thrilled- beyond thrilled, he was ecstatic. This meant that he was officially going to have a pen-pal, or quill-pal, as his letter-mate has stated. So, so cool. He was so excited.

It is wonderful to know that my letter reached someone!

Ariam! I think that's a very nice name, do you pronounce it like ari-am or a-riam? Also please do tell me what Castelobruxo is like. From my imagination, is it like in the rainforest itself? Uagadou is similar in style, it's in a mountain up near the River Nile. Some of the older students tell me that the school actually moves all of the time so that way nobody finds it but... I'm not actually sure that's true!

I don't think I excel in one subject over the other. I love our nature classes, Kusoma Kwa Maisha. I'm not sure the English equivalent to the name, but it's something like nature and creature care. Also- I'm not on the quidditch team, but I am a dueler! I believe Castelobruxo and Uagadou visit Hogwarts at the same time, maybe I could teach you a thing or two! We could have a mock duel! Though we'd have to find a referee.

Do you like your siblings? I love my sisters, but I have a friend who has four or five brothers and says he hates them all pretty equally. I've noticed that it seems to be a pretty common theme between siblings. For me, I have such a noticeable age gap between myself and my sisters that we never really had time to fight.

The owl once more arrived at Ariam's window, having recognised that it was not the one their parents use but the one that delivers the letters of their new quill-pal, they excitedly opened the letter and got ready to reply. I'm glad to hear from you so soon! So my name is pronounced Ari-am, or at least that's what everyone calls me. Also Uagadou is in a mountain? That must be interesting, especially the buildings! The main school building of Castelobruxo is a large pyramid, the Mesoamerican kind. The surrounding buildings are also of a similar style, there's also some farms around the school. I'm surprised you're a duelist too, maybe it's just my upbringing but I was under the impression that quidditch is by far the most popular sport so it feels really lucky to have meet another duelist. And yes, we should most certainly have a mock duel, I have yet to have an actual duel so it will be great! Siblings wise I never did argue much with my own, thought they certainly did argue with each other which normally ends with me getting dragged into it like some kind of referee. My siblings are six years younger then me and I get the idea they look up to me, though it could be just what my father tells me to get me to set a good example for them. They were actually the ones who encouraged me to join dueling, after all they have watched my failed attempts at broom riding ever since they were children. You said you have a noticeable age gap with your siblings? Are they much older or younger? I have heard from people that it's always easier to be the younger sibling, I wonder if that's true.

Wow, farms? Can you go farming and grow crops? I know quite a few of my friends families work on cocoa bean farms. Cocoa is like one of the pillars of our economy, did you know that we export more of it than any other country? Ghana is the second most, I think my country and Ghana combined export like 60% of the entire world's cocoa. Think about that when you eat a chocolate bar!

I'm not a fan of Quidditch, to be honest. I grew up in a city filled with muggles in a small apartment so I never got to ride brooms or anything like that as a child. I think my sister took me to London one year when I was young to watch the World Cup but... I'm not very interested in the sport beyond that. I much prefer duelling. It's fun and you don't risk falling a million feet from the sky.

Speaking of my eldest sister, she's 24 right now, so I guess it's a pretty sizeable age gap? My baby sisters are both 4, which is less of a gap. But I totally understand the whole 'referee', if my mama is out then the twins rely on me to tell them which is wrong and which is right. Which... usually both of them are wrong.

I'm not sure where to include this, so I'll just put it at the end of my letter. Are you planning on attending the summer camp at Hogwarts at the end of the school year? My sister really wants me to. She's thinking that if I go to Hogwarts for summer camp, then I can also stay with her in London for a bit. It'd be nice to know someone else that would be there, at least so I wouldn't feel lonely!

We do work on the farms! Our teachers say it's to teach us the importance of hard work and self-sufficiency, I just think it's pretty neat to eat the food we helped grow, apparently a large amount of our meals are made from things produced in the farm. Before this I never had any experience with plants, my parents are wealth wizard borns so I never did much. Didn't even leave the house a lot! 60% of cocoa? Wow that's lot, I do like chocolate so thank you for it! My home country Chile is the world's 9th producer of wine, a fact my parents certainly likes to take advantage of. Speaking of quiddich I have to say I agree, most sports have never appealed to me despite my parents efforts. My mother still enjoys broom racing while my father likes quiddich, but dueling just seems so much more sophisticated and enjoyable. To me it's almost as beautiful as an art form, with the shapes and colors from the spells everywhere. One of my friends at Castlelo is a quiddich player and I've been to a few of her games. I find it pretty nice to watch but the just the thought of flying that quickly that high up makes me sick About camp I am definitely attending, I really want to leave South America for a bit and meet new people. One of my friends is going too and we were talking about tent groups, perhaps you would like to join us? We don't have a lot of people and I would really like the company.

I imagine the experience of reaping what you sow is invaluable. I've never had much a green thumb (I think is the phrase), although I really do enjoy gardening and taking care of plants, they typically don't last beyond a few weeks or months. I'm not sure I'd be able to produce wine if I also lived in Chile! My grapes would never get ripe enough. Although I think I've heard something about wine being produced with other fruit besides grapes- not that I would know much about that considering nobody in my family drinks much alcohol.

Haha... I don't think I can share the sentiment that dueling is 'sophisticated'. Maybe I've just seen someone get flung back ten or fifteen feet and fall on their behind one time too many. I think the most sophisticated sport might be something like chess (if you consider it a sport). The players of competitive chess certainly think it's ingenious and elegant. I think it's comparable to gobstones, in my opinion chess is more interesting.

And actually, knowing that you'll also be attending the summer camp makes me feel more comfortable about going. Even more so if we were tentmates, since that would solve the whole awkwardness of not knowing who the person you're living with for a month will be. It must be miserable to not know a single person that you're bunking with.

This also means that we can become 'pen-pals that know each other in person' instead of just pen-pals. I believe that's a notion that is most definitely worth celebrating.

Your plants don't last? That's such a pity, I like plants and flowers I think they are really nice. Back home I have a small pot of flower in my room, sadly I forgot what kind it is so I can't tell you. And about wine I can tell you a bit! My father has sold some expensive ones before, he also drinks a fair amount. I think almost any kind of fruit can be used to make wine, I know there are dandelion wine and peach wine, though I have no idea how they would taste. I think Chess counts as a sport, I have played some wizard Chess and I find myself enjoying it a lot. The strategies you have to use make it a really interesting game for me. Personally I have never played gobstones, no one I knew liked it a lot so I never learned how to, have you played? It will be great to have you at camp, in the tent I have currently planned there's just two people I know, you and another friend of mine called Acacia, I might have mentioned her before. I wonder what summer camp will be like, living with different people for a whole month must be an interesting experience. I also wonder if we will be able to go swimming, or paddling. I hear people do these things at summer camp. It will be great!

Any fruit? I wonder what the limitations to that are. Could you make an avocado wine? I can't imagine something like that would taste... good... but it sounds like an interesting experiment. I'm sure if you ferment something long enough the alcohol taste would drown out the actual fruit? Would you be willing to drink bell pepper wine?

I've never learned to play gobstones, no. It's not a particularly popular game in my country, but my older sister might know how to play. She's lived in London for a few years now so I could ask her if she knows. I believe it's more popular there. Though, she might prefer chess the same way I do- I've never actually asked her her thoughts on the matter.

It'll be nice to meet your friend. I've asked most of the people I know and it doesn't look like many are going to attend the camp. Is she friendly? Not to insinuate that you'd be friends with unpleasant people, or anything like that!

Also I think it'll be fun. Not sure if I'll be partaking in any of the more sporty events, but if you do then I will definitely cheer you on. (And Acacia, too!) Are you any good at swimming? I must admit that I'm no good at it, but I do know how to do it. I think my swimming is more akin to helpless flailing, though...

Bell pepper wine? Maybe? I mean it will be an interesting experience, I will take a sip if offered. But no more, it does not sound like it would taste good. I do wonder how you would make avocado wine, the main thing that makes wine work is sugar, and I don't think avocado has enough but with enough it should work. Still seems like a waste of perfectly good avocados though. My friend Acacia is quite friendly so don't worry! She's really nice and welcoming, at least most of the time. I'm sure you two will get along fine. About the camp it's similar here, there aren't a lot of people going which is surprising to me. I expected most people to go, London seems like it will be a really interesting place and I can't wait to go! Not to mention there is also the inter school competitions, I'm excited for the duels and I definitely plan to go watch the quidditch match. I think I'm pretty average at swimming? I can swim just fine, my father has taken us to the beaches and it was always fun, my family even lives near a lake even though it's almost always to cold to swim in. But it doesn't stop my little siblings from trying, the two of them love swimming and they're good at it too! "Helpless flailing"? That is certainly an interesting picture, but I'm sure you'll be fine at camp, you can't be the only one that can't swim very well.
