-----History/Background-----

Kenzie was born in Bath, England to two English parents; Katherine Thatcher and Dr. Benedict Thatcher. Shortly after she was born, the small (and new) family moved to Maisemore, England, which is a small town just outside of Gloucestershire, England, and that is where Kenzie has lived her entire life. She was extremely close to her grandparents on her father’s side. Despite her parents only being University professors, the Thatcher family is quite wealthy indeed. Kenzie is not one to flaunt her wealth, but she definitely knows that she’s rich. Nevertheless, the entire family is actually rather humble. They take frequent trips to London, as her father has business that needs tending to.

When she was 3 years old, she was asleep in the car with her grandparents when they were hit by a drunk driver. The driver that hit them and her grandparents unfortunately passed away, but somehow Kenzie survived with nothing but a few scrapes and cuts. She has 2 scars from the incident; a crescent-shaped scar just under her chin and a faint, small, straight scar across the bridge of her nose, but was otherwise unharmed. Despite being a very devastating experience, she doesn’t actually hold much trauma with it because not only was she 3 years old, but she was sleeping. She doesn’t remember the crash, really, now that she’s older.

The neighborhood where she lives is very close and friendly, so growing up she was friends with many of the children in her neighborhood. She could always be found playing outside with the other kids, until school started for all of them. When she was introduced to the academic scene, the other kids made their own friends and eventually they all stopped hanging out with her. The other kids at school thought she was rather odd and she struggled to make any friends, but she didn’t mind that much. She learned how to keep herself entertained (with books) and she quite enjoyed the peace.

Her next door neighbor, Mrs. Agatha, is a sweet old lady. Kenzie became rather close with her over the years, and Agatha became a grandmother-like figure to her. On the day Kenzie turned 11, she got a visit from a Professor at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Agatha happened to be over for tea at that moment, and revealed herself to be a witch who also went to Hogwarts. Agatha helped explain everything to the Thatcher family, and even took them to Diagon Alley to shop for Kenzie’s school things. Kenzie is also quite close to her family’s chauffeur, Carson. As fate would have it, Kenzie grew up around those who knew of the magical world. Just like Agatha, Carson grew up in a magical family. He is actually a squib, however, but that does not take away the magic of his charisma!

The very first instance of accidental wandless magic that Kenzie performed was actually during the very same car crash that had killed her grandparents and given her 2 scars. She was sleeping when it happened, so it was more of her magic’s instinct to protect her, which created a force (almost like a shield) that protected her during the crash. She was still injured, resulting in her scars, but only mildly so and definitely not life threatening. This act of magic happened when she was just a small child, about 3 years old.

She never displayed another act of magic until age 7. She was being watched by Mrs. Agatha and had been watching the movie Matilda in Mrs. Agatha’s living room. She felt that she was quite similar to Matilda, being very smart and all, so she concentrated very hard on the book in front of her. To both her surprise and Agatha’s (who had been watching from the kitchen) the book lifted off the table and floated in the air briefly, before falling back down. Despite technically being considered intentional, it was still quite a surprise and she hadn’t believed it would actually work.

Later that evening, Kenzie, her parents, and Agatha were walking home through the forest from the park. Kenzie decided she wanted to pick flowers for her mother. So she ran off to the wildflowers and picked them, not caring that they were very much dead flowers. After having a handful, she returned to her mother with the flowers in tow, only she had wanted to make her mother happy so much that she accidentally (and without her control) used magic to make the flowers come back to life…big and blossoming.
