It was a wind-swept Sunday morning, with soft rays of the sunlight touching the pure grounds of Hogwarts. Looking at the pastel orange sun, it quite explained that it was early morning. Out there, you could hear nothing but those birds chirping along with the soft whistling of the wind and the rippling of the water in the Great Lake.

Completely opposite of the atmosphere in the Great Hall, though...

Escaping the Hogwarts castle, Ash made her way to the south, downwards to the Great Lake, her face looking as if she'd eat anybody who came in her way. It was quite unexpected to see a crowd and noise in the Great Hall so early on a Sunday morning. Ash was totally pissed off.

Can't they sleep till late today? IT'S THE FREAKING SUNDAY!!

Not that she hated noise. In fact, noisy places seemed to calm her down. Weird? Weird.
Lately, though, she had been feeling down and irritated, and only to make it even worse, there was no reason or excuse in handy she could tell she was annoyed for.
For a hot minute, Ash just stood there, admiring the beauty around her and screaming inside at the same time. Her eyeballs stopped roaming when they spotted a tall tree by the lake, and she made a beeline for it, clutching her sketchbook in one arm and some chocolate frogs in the other.

Whoever said they hate nature must be a mental hospital runaway!
Ash thought irritably as she sat down on the soft grass under the shade of the tall tree, unsure the next moment if she ever heard someone saying that.
What's something the Great Lake is likely to remind most of the people knowing Hogwarts of? The giant squid?
Ash had never seen it. She stared at the lake for a long time, hoping to encounter the giant squid, even if it'd be for only a second. But all she could see was the slightly moving water— because of the air— or hopefully because there was something inside it. Whatever it was, it never came.

Disappointed but not surprised, Ash took out her pencil— you wouldn't want to use a quill for sketching— and began to draw the giant squid of her imagination.

Zephyr woke up earlier than expected. It was Sunday, so normally they slept in until their roommates dragged them out of bed. Today their roommates decided to slam the door too loud, leaving Zephyr groggy and awake.

So that leads us to now. After Zephyr went and ate some food in the great hall, which was abnormally crowded, they decided they'd go out and enjoy a stroll.

They hummed softly, and wished they had something to play music on. They walked past a few upperclassmen along the way.

Zephyr couldn't wait till they were a second year. They were getting tired of all the older Slytherins calling them a firstie.

As Zephyr was lost in thought, they noticed they were at the lake. It was really pretty, and the sun wasn't too bright just yet.

Zephyr couldn't believe their luck! This is a perfect place to read their quidditch history book! Not like they haven't read it over 5 times before, but that's beside the point.

Zephyr's dad told them not to try out for the team until their second year so they could focus on their studies.

So Zephyr did! Study quidditch, that is. Oh, what they would give to ride a broom over the lake and knock a bludger onto the giant squid! Ok, maybe not the squid part. They don't have a death wish.

They decided to find a spot to sit, and found a big tree with the perfect amount of sun and shade!

one problem though. Someone else was there.

Oh well, the tree is big enough for two.

And so they sat down on the other side of the tree.

The wind seemed to soothe Ash's soul quite a bit. Quite a bit, yes, because there was still a part of her brain which wanted to shout, scream at anyone. But that was pointless, Ash knew. It would only make that 'anyone' probably call her a weirdo, and she simply wouldn't want that.
The good thing was that she was already an expert at not showing her feelings and emotions, thanks to her the-worst-ever-muggle-school; her face only showed innocence even if she wasn't, happiness and mischief.

Ash's legs were bent at the knees, with feet flat on the ground and knees pointing upwards, resting her spine on the tree trunk and stroking her pencil onto the sketchbook. Imagining and sketching the giant squid didn't seem too tough, since she was quite good with imagination stuff.

Ash looked at her drawing and sighed. It was almost done. She kept her sketchbook aside and popped a chocolate frog into her mouth. Chocolates are better than therapy, or at least for Ash, they are. There was this gasp.
"Bowman Wright, whoa!!"
Ash really needed that card; she'd read somewhere about him that he had invented the golden snitch. And Ash loved quidditch, even if she wasn't a player. She kept it in her pocket and headed to continue with her sketching.
After a while, she thought she heard some footsteps behind her but was too busy with her sketching to look behind. It might be the leaves moving because of the wind, anyway.

And then, Ash jumped with discomfort, feeling something tickle her waist. She moved her head downwards to see a grey rat near her pocket. To her horror, it was now having her Bowman Wright card.

"Sup, you little thing?" she muttered rather creepily. "You should give that back to me, don't you think?" It didn't. Because the very next moment, it was running away.
"I WANT THAT! HEY!!!!!!" She screamed and, well, even if she knew she wasn't going to get the card back, she decided to chase after it, if the odds were in her favour even 1%.

Today for sure isn't a good day. She thought.

Another great surprise, Ash tripped on something and landed on the grass with her face down and arms and legs spread out in all directions.
A girl was sitting there, right behind the tree where Ash took shelter.

Zephyr was laying down on the soft grass, their knees in the air and feet tapping. Their book was very good, and they never got tired of reading it. The pages were sticky from all the times they ate sweets while reading it and never bothered to wash their hands.

They were flipping through the more boring chapters. They weren't really a fan of inventions, just the cool feats and stuff. As they skipped past the page on equiptment, she heard aan excited "Bowman Wright! Woah!"

Zephyr thought it was a ghost who had abnormally fast reading time, as it took less than 1 second for them to flip the page, but then remembered the kid behind them, who they could hear munching on food from all the way behind them.

She assumed it was a chocolate frog. "What a coincidence..." Zephyr whispered, quiet enough for them not even to hear.

Anyway, back to the book.

Zephyr had snuck a small pastry from the great hall and snacked on that a bit. As they were about to finish it, they saw a small grey rat in front of them, it's nose twitching. Zephyr loved rats, they're so adorable!

"Hey there buddy!" they cooed, motioning for the rat to come to them. The rat just stared at her pastry and twitched. "You want the pastry sweetie? Here you go!"

Zephyr threw the last bit of the pastry to the rat, who ate it happily, and then skittered over to the other side of the tree.

As Zephyr read tales of dangerous matches (their favorite chapter by far) They could hear inaudible yelling. Well, maybe it was audible, but Zephyr didn't pay attention to the words.

Before you know it, they saw that cute little rat again, with something in it's mouth. But before they could tell what it was. Something tripped over them, and Zephyrs book flew out their hands and into the tree.

Zephyr cussed loudly and stood up to see who ruined their time, when they saw the kid from the other side of the tree.

As annoyed as they were that their book was now impaled by a tree branch, they still had enough empathy to help the girl up.

Although they did have a good laugh at the position before lending a hand.

"That was a bloody excellent fall there! Need a hand?" They extended their hand, holding back another laugh.

I can't believe my luck, wow. Ash thought, still lying down on her stomach. She stared in the direction where the rat had escaped just a few seconds ago.
A sound somewhere between a laugh and a scoff escaped her mouth, her face stiff.
"Good," she muttered. "Destroy the card now, it's all yours."
All she wished was to get this day over.

Ash was so focused on pitying her precious card at the moment that she even forgot about the person she just tripped into. Still lying there, she turned her head in the opposite direction and looked at the girl who was Ash heard shout something before, though she didn't notice what it was. The girl was now standing and staring at her, and it seemed like she wanted to laugh.

A lot happened in these few seconds, and it all had left Ash perplexed. She remained there in the same position until something tickled her ear. She flinched uncomfortably and sat up on the grass.

Why is everyone tickling me today? She thought. Or screamed internally. If you looked at her face, you'd suspect that she's drunk.

"That was a bloody excellent fall there! Need a hand?" The girl's voice shook Ash back to reality.
"Uh- thanks..." said Ash, trying to sound as calm as she could, accepting the girl's hand to stand up. She brushed off all the dirt from her body and clothes.
And that was when Ash got a good look at the girl. She had an Irish look with nice shoulder-length ginger hair and she wore a green flannel shirt with blue jeans. No wonder she looked beautiful!

"I'm really sorry! Did you get hurt?"
Ash asked the girl and looked up to wipe the little blood from her nose.

And then her eyes spotted a book on one of the tree branches. Did it all happen because of her? Ash didn't know what was making her want to laugh, but she suppressed it somehow.
"Is-is that your book?" Ash pointed up. "Sorry again! I'm not in my right mind today. Wait, I'll get that back for you right away!!!" She smiled, hoping the girl wasn't mad at her.
