The Story Writing Activity Summer Open!

ᨰׁׅꫀׁׅܻᥣׁׅ֪ᝯׁᨵׁׅ ꩇׁׅ݊ꫀׁׅܻ!
Hello!
I wanted to start yet ANOTHER activity, except I won't be around to run it. So this is a self running activity!

Basically, everyone works together to create story, like a game!
This is not a one word story, or a one sentence story type of game. It is supposed to connect together to form a memorable story - something you'd actually find really interesting to read! (There's no minimum or maximum to what you can write, technically, but around a few sentences to a paragraph would be great! You can, of course, post in the thread more than once, just no double posting unless absolutely nobody else has responded!)
At the end, I'll take everyone's posts and put them all together as a story and post them At The Counter! It will not be edited except for well, grammatical things, as well as transitional words/sentences.
There will also possibly be small edits. For example, if somebody describes a character as having "curly blue hair" and another says the same character has "straight purple hair" and does not offer any explanation,I may edit/change that minor detail. Another example would be a name, like the character's name somehow changing because somebody before used a nickname, etc.
What Do You Get?
Well, a ton of fun!
Also, each writer will receive 2 unopened Chocolate frogs.
And if you'd like to design, (Banners, Coding, Illustrate etc.) you will receive a chocolate frog for each piece of artwork! ( currently nobody is designing except me, so I’d also especially appreciate any artwork :) )

Can I do both Art and Writing?
Yes Of Course!
Yes, unfortunately we still have rules...
The Rules:
- Please Be Respectful and inclusive! Do not dismiss someone's ideas! all ideas are welcomed and accepted as long as they are appropriate and follow site rules.
- No Bad Comments or references against other cultures or real groups of people!
- Try to follow the "flow" of the story. What I mean by this is if other people are writing a fantasy story, please do not suddenly change it into a horror story

Suggestions:
(Some Suggestions, Not Rules)
- Try to write as different characters! If you create a character, try to let others develop them as well!
- You can change perspectives, but please state if you are doing so as it will be easier for me later!
- Have Fun!
A Note To Artists: You may create anything related to the story! A scene from a part you really liked, or a banner for a character in the story, etc. Please OWL the artwork to me to receive your frogs!

Title: The Magic Clock
There was a small shop in the center of the city, hidden between tall buildings and busy streets. The name of the store was ''The Magic Clock''. No one knew exactly when it had appeared there, but everyone agreed that it was a peculiar place.

The door bell tinkled softly when someone entered. The interior of the store was dark, with shelves filled with antique clocks, each with its own story. The owner, a gray-haired man named Mr. Elias, was always behind the counter, watching customers with discerning eyes.

One day, a young woman named Sofia walked into the store. She was looking for a gift for her grandfather, who collected watches. Mr. Elias smiled and approached.

''Can I help you find something special?'' he asked.

Sophie examined the watches, but none seemed suitable. It was then that she noticed a gold pocket watch, hidden in a dusty display case. It looked different from the others, with strange symbols engraved on the lid.

That's the Magic Clock,'' said Mr. Elias. ''They say he has the power to stop time.''

Sophie laughed. ''That's just a legend, right?

But Mr. Elijah didn't laugh. He opened the watch and showed Sofia the delicate mechanism inside. ''You just need to turn the crown three times counterclockwise,'' he explained. ''Enrão, time will be suspended for an hour.''

Sophie looked at her watch, puzzled. She decided to buy it as a gift for her grandfather. As she left the store, Mr. Elijah whispered something in an ancient language, and the door bell tinkled louder than usual.

What Sofia didn't know was that the Magic Clock was more than a legend. He harbored ancient and dangerous secrets, and Sofia was about to discover that messing with time had unpredictable consequences.

Sofia carefully wrapped the golden pocket watch and headed to her grandfather's house, eager to see his reaction. Her grandfather, an old man with a love for the extraordinary, was thrilled with the gift. His eyes sparkled as he examined the intricate symbols and delicate mechanism.

"Where did you find this?" he asked, his voice filled with wonder.

"In a small shop called 'The Magic Clock,'" Sofia replied. "The owner, Mr. Elias, told me it could stop time for an hour if you turn the crown three times counterclockwise."

Her grandfather chuckled, clearly amused by the tale. "What a delightful story! Let's see if it works, shall we?"

With a twinkle in his eye, he turned the crown three times counterclockwise. For a moment, nothing happened. Then, the room began to shimmer, and the world outside the window came to a standstill. Birds hung motionless in the air, and the leaves on the trees froze mid-sway.

Sofia and her grandfather stared in awe. "It actually works," she whispered, her voice echoing in the eerie stillness.

They spent the next hour exploring the suspended world, marveling at the peculiarities of frozen time. But as the hour drew to a close, a strange sensation filled the air—a warning, perhaps, that the spell was ending. They hurried back to their original positions, and with a faint click, time resumed its flow.

That night, Sofia couldn't shake the feeling that something had changed. She dreamt of ancient symbols and dark corridors, of Mr. Elias's discerning eyes and the cryptic words he had whispered. When she woke, she found a note beside her bed, written in an unfamiliar hand: "Beware the second turn."

(This character will later meet Sofia)

Oliver knocked on the door of the The Magic Clock shop, waiting for his father to let him in, as he had just walked home from school. Everyone said the shop was ominous and peculiar, but Oliver had never once felt that way. Now though, he kind of felt like the shop was.. different. His father was different. Or perhaps.. he was different.

Oliver almost laughed at his foolishness. What was he even thinking? That was nonsense. He rang the bell again, hoping his father would hear him. It was half past three, and the shop should have been open....

But wait.

Oliver squinted through the glass door of the shop, and pushed his glasses up his nose. That wasn’t his father..... that was Mr. Elias!! What was he doing there?? Mr. Elias was a street vendor - why was he there, in the family owned shop, and where was Oliver’s father?

Oliver began to panic. How would he get home now??

He almost turned to go back to school, even though it was the last thing he wanted to do... but then, he noticed a paper on the floor. He picked it up, unfolded it, and read it.... Beware the Second Turn

Oliver looked up nervously, waiting to see eyes gazing at him, watching, but there was no one. Beware the second turn. Why did the phrase sound so familiar? He felt like he was supposed to remember what it meant. It was like trying to recall a dream.

As he turned to ring the bell again, he felt peculiar with each passing second, and somehow he knew that entering the shop with Mr. Elias was a spell for disaster. He turned on his heel and shoved the paper into his pocket, realizing he knew why the phrase sounded familiar.

That was what his father had told him when he was younger. And the note? That was his father’s handwriting. When he turned to look at the shop window once more, he knew only one thing. His father would not be returning to the shop unless Oliver did something to change the hands of fate.

Oliver ran.

Unsure of where he was going, unsure of what he was doing, unsure of whether he’d ever see his father again.

But he was sure of what that phrase meant. He was sure that was a message from his father.
And he HAD to do something before it was too late.

Oliver remembered, on the day he turned five, his father had showed him an ancient clock. Young Oliver had been fascinated by the curious symbols as well as the design.

Oliver remembered that his father had laughed and said, “It is indeed a curious clock Oliver. But if it falls into the wrong hands, it could harm people. They must beware the second turn.. “

But then he had quickly changed the subject and said, “ why don’t we go have some cake?”

Young Oliver didn’t question this. But present day Oliver thought that this could be a clue. Surely, his father had told him that for a reason. He had to find that clock from his memory, the one his father had showed him.... he prayed that it wasn’t in the wrong hands.

Someone must have bought it. Someone must have bought it, right? Or was it Mr. Elias that had stolen it? And where on earth was Oliver's father? How had one small clock changed so much so quickly? Millions of questions were racing through the boy's mind, and he stopped running after a few blocks, leaning against an old stone house to catch his breath. What was he supposed to do now? Well, obviously find the clock, but how was the question.

He decided to believe someone else had bought the clock. Mr. Elias had somehow gotten in and sold the clock that was not for sale. Why, Oliver did not know, but if the man had done that he had to have known how dangerous the clock was, so of course he wouldn't use it - he would sell it. All Oliver needed to do was find who it was he had sold it to. Fat chance. There was no way this was going to be easy. The boy felt like crying. It would have been better if he'd at least known where his father was, but he had no idea, and he was so scared. What if...

No, there was no time for what ifs. He needed to move. He needed to do something. He turned and began running again, but he was so distracted he rammed into someone, sending them both to the ground. It almost felt like the last straw - Oliver could feel the tears straining to come out, but he shoved them down. "I- I'm so sorry, I didn't mean to-"

But the man he had run into - an old man, with a long white beard, twinkling amber eyes and a face wrinkled from every time he'd smiled - was not looking at Oliver. He was looking at the small piece of paper that had escaped Oliver's pocket and was playing with the wind on the sidewalk. He was looking at it like he recognized it. The twinkle in his eye slowly disappeared as he stared at it.

And Oliver knew that fate was being kind today, because he had a feeling he had found the one with the clock.

(Changing Perspective to the old man that Oliver bumped into - Who so happens to be Sofia's Grandfather ... totally didn't see that coming..)

The old man walked along the road, lost in thought... That clock from Sofia, it was beautiful. The most beautiful thing he'd ever owned. But he recognized the shop name as well as the name of the supposed "store owner". The shop had been there ever since he was a boy. Run by the Marson family, it was. And Elias... The old man KNEW him. He had watched him grow up from a sweet young boy to a clever, sneaky, and deceptive man. Surely, he had to be up to something... But What?

And the clock itself, it wasn't just "beautiful" - it had proven to stop time. And maybe it was merely just some sort of "special effect" type of thing. But more likely, it was deep, dark, magic. And Elias might just be a pawn in a bigger scheme...

Suddenly, the old man bumped into something, causing him to stumble and lose his train of thought.
Realizing that it was just a young boy - on the run, from the look of it, he listened to what the boy had to say - (an apology that wasn't really needed), and he was about to respond when he stopped, the warm expression on his face turning into one of shock and fright. He stared at the little slip of paper the boy carried - Beware the Second Turn..

It was almost as if..
No, it couldn't be. Could it be referring to the watch? The watch that just so happened to be IN his pocket at this very moment?

The old man reached down and picked up the slip of paper, his hands trembling slightly. He turned to Oliver, who was still catching his breath and looking up at him with a mix of fear and hope.

"Where did you get this?" the old man asked, his voice urgent but gentle.

"My father left it for me," Oliver replied, eyes wide. "He told me to beware the second turn. And now he's missing. I think it has something to do with a clock—a magical clock. Do you know anything about it?"

The old man's expression softened, and he nodded slowly. "Yes, I believe I do. My granddaughter recently gave me a watch that can stop time. It sounds like it might be the same one you're talking about. We need to find your father, and we need to do it quickly."

Oliver's heart pounded. "Do you think Mr. Elias did something to him?"

"Mr. Elias is a tricky man, but he is often a pawn in larger schemes," the old man said thoughtfully. "We must proceed with caution. Come with me, we need to speak with my granddaughter, Sofia. She might have more pieces to this puzzle."

Together, they hurried to the old man's home. Sofia was sitting at the kitchen table, examining the gold pocket watch. When her grandfather and Oliver burst in, she looked up in surprise.

"Grandfather, what's going on?"

The old man quickly explained the situation, showing her the note and recounting Oliver's story. Sofia's eyes widened as she listened, and she nodded in understanding.

"We need to find your father and figure out what Mr. Elias is planning," she said to Oliver. "The watch has already shown us that it can stop time, but we don't know what else it can do—or what happens if we turn it a second time."

"Turning it a second time might awaken something or someone," her grandfather added. "The Keeper of Time. We need to be prepared for whatever trial it might bring."

Oliver felt a surge of determination. "Let's do it. We have to save my father."

Sofia handed the watch to her grandfather, who examined it closely. "Oliver, I want you to turn the crown twice. We'll be here with you, no matter what happens."

Oliver took a deep breath, holding the watch carefully. His fingers trembled as he turned the crown twice counterclockwise. The room began to shimmer, and suddenly, they were enveloped in a bright light.

Back to Oliver's POV

When Oliver could see again, no longer blinded by the light, he looked around to see... a forest? Something was wrong. He was no longer in the old man's home, but this forest looked familiar. And when he looked down, he saw ruins about him, stone and rotting wood taken over by moss and plants. Like there had been a house here, once, hundreds of years ago.

Where had he been teleported?

And, more importantly, where were the old man and Sofia? He had said they would be there with him, no matter what happened, but they were nowhere to be found. A feeling of dread overcoming the boy, he called out softly, "Sofia?" But only the wind in the branches of the forest responded to him. In fact, he realized, there wasn't much else. Not a single songbird could be heard, despite the fact that it was spring and sunny. How peculiar.

If he'd been scared before, now he was absolutely terrified. He began tentatively walking through the forest, leaving to ruins behind, keeping an ear out for any sign of life, but there was none. He clutched the clock closely, wondering why on earth this forest was so familiar.

He arrived to the edge of the forest, only to find more ruins, but in much greater size. It looked like an abandoned city. There were gigantic buildings that looked like they were about to fall over, and others that were about to fall apart, and not a single sign of life in sight. But a weird aura of familiarity rested over the place. And Oliver turned a corner to find ruins that looked suspiciously like his father's shop. And then, further off, some that looked like the supermarket he shopped at. And his school.

It was then that he realized. The forest he'd walked out of? It was the one the old man and Sofia's house was in. The ruins? Their house. He hadn't teleported anywhere. He had gone forward in time.
