A peaceful afternoon Closed

This was Tuan's third afternoon at Hogwarts. It's so different from where he lived. Hogwarts is totally different. That was the reason why he hasn't made any friends yet.
"If only I could make a friend," Tuan thought while reading.
He has only stayed in the Ravenclaw's dormitory and the Hogwarts' library. He afraid that he might be lost in this enormous Hogwarts.
"But I'm badly want to discover other places, too," thought Tuan"What if I get lost or people stared at me or they don't like me? And I'm a Muggle-born!"
Those thoughts have made Tuan so scared. He has read in many books that the Muggle-born always be bullied by the Pure-blood.
"Well, let's go outside." thought Tuan after 30 minutes of thinking.
He borrowed some books about Charms, Transfiguration, and Animagi to read. He turned left, go straight, some stairs and various doors. Then before him is the Great Lake. He walked to find a good spot to sit down and read. A few students from other houses past Tuan in the opposite way. They nodded. Tuan smiled weakly back. He kept walking. Suddenly, the surface of the Lake started to move. Some bubbles came up.
"What's on earth could that be?" Tuan said to himself.
Then two tentacles came up. They seem to wave to Tuan. Tuan waved back, smiling. He accidentally spotted a perfect tree to sit under. He walked quickly to it and sit down.
"So comfortable!" Tuan thought.
Tuan took out a book and started to read in a great interested.

Marcia was tired, although it was only a few days since she had returned to Hogwarts. Everything had her in shock and aw when she had arrived last year, but now it was different. She had loved to spend some time with her parents, and enjoyed the vacation they took. She knew she would see them till Christmas which fortunately wasn't too long, but nevertheless she felt the pressure of being back at school.

The teacher were merciless and by now she had various essays and articles to write; and the first week wasn't over!

She decided that she needed a break, so she wanted to be outside on the Grounds rather than staying inside. Winter would come and with it she would be forced to be in the school, caged in her own dormitory.

Marcia didn't take any book with her, she just wanted to walk a bit and feel the fresh air. Her wand was tucked away under her robes at her back, where she could reach it easily. Since this nasty encounter with the angry Ravenclaw boy she had learnt to always keep her wand with her.

The grounds were filled with students, some were returning into the castle, but Marcia went straight down towards the lake. She had accustomed to its sight, there wasn't another chance after all, but she would still keep her distance. Her destination was her favorite tree, a Wheeping Birch. She loved to sit under the hanging twigs, some of which he had collected to decorate her bed. She would take the opportunity to get some new ones, before the birch would slowly wither.

While she came closer, she noticed that someone was already sitting in her spot, reading a book. She considered to turn and move back, as she often did. The spot under the tree was beloved by many students, so it wasn't unusual for it to be already taken.

"Sigh, why not?" she said under her breath and went closer. She brushed some twigs out of the way and looked down at the boy. A Ravenclaw, she noted with a quick glance to his crest. Great, another Ravenclaw boy. Hopefully this one won't turn lunatic.

"Hey", she said to get his attention, "you've found one of the best spots here on the grounds, lucky you. Mind if I join you?"

Some of her hair got caught in the twigs while she passed them, so she stopped suddenly as she felt the stinging pain. "Ouch." Is this the revenge for the twigs I've taken? she thought with a frown while looking at the birch. After a few seconds she was free and let herself fall beside the boy, slightly facing in another direction. She held some broken branches and leaves in her hand and twisted them.

The book was so interesting. Tuan read so deeply that he didn't even notice a small bird singing near him. Then it flew up and landed on top of Tuan's head. he finally noticed the bird. It's a small, blue bird.
"Oh hello, sorry I didn't notice you," said Tuan.
The bird listened like if it can understand every word Tuan said. It then flew away. A gust of wind brought the smell of the Great Lake to where Tuan sat. The smell is very peculiar, it's a bit salty, it's a bit fishy, it also smells like seaweed. This smell reminded him of the Turtle Lake near where Tuan lives. His family aways camp there every summer. So many happy memories. He smiled to himself when he thought about this. He missed his family so much. He saw some students chatting to each other happily far away.
"Wish I have a friend to chat with" thought Tuan.
He returned to the book. He was reading about the Locking Spell now.
"The Locking Spell is a Charm that is used to lock or seal doors so that they cannot be opened manually...
Tuan heard something. Something like someone was walking on the grass. He turned around and saw a girl walking towards him. He took a quick look and thought:
"A Slytherin. A Prefect I guess. Wait, is she a Pure-blood? Will she come to 'bully' me?"
However, the Slytherin girl only came and smiled at him. She asked him if he doesn't mind if she sits with him.
"Oh no no no, of course. Feel free" answered Tuan. "So may I ask what's your name?"

That is much better! Nice additions, well done!
Marcia enjoyed the light wind with her eyes closed. The way she sat she didn't see the lake, but nevertheless she kept her eyes shut. The knowledge of it being there was enough.

She had the urge to take of her robes, it was still warm up here in Scotland, with the sun burning down on them. The tree protected them from the worst, which is why it was a popular spot, but Marcia could still feel the heat.

Beside her the boy shifted, making Marcia to open her eyes. Her curiosity got the best of her, so she looked over to see what he was doing. She would lie if she would say that she didn't hope he would stand up and go. Then, so far he wasn't insufferable, he wasn't singing or jumping into a puddle. Marcia had seen these kind of strange encounters during her patrolling, and it always made her flinch.

Just when she was in her thoughts, she heard him speak.

"My name?" she repeated with a faint smile. Only a few days ago she had to lead the First Years to their common room, and make sure they would end up in the right dormitory. It had been the first time, that she had to be the responsible one, and so far she hasn't accustomed to it. Every day the students of her house came to her, with minor or bigger issues, that she had to resolve; and it were only three days of school! The Slytherins knew who she was by now, but he was a Ravenclaw.

"Sure. Marcia Kingsleigh, nice to meet you." She twisted around in order to present her hand for him to shake, when she realized, that she gave him her left hand. She quickly retreated and stood up. The twigs in her hand put she in her hair, curling them around the wood, so that her hands were free. With one swift motion she took off her robe and let it slide on the ground, where she just sat. She would get it dirty, but there usually were earthly  spots and grass stains all over it anyway.

One could see her wand now, facing out of her skirt waistband.

When she had freed herself she sat back, now facing towards the boy, offering him once again her hand. "There, much better. And you are?"

Her eyes wandered to the book and recognized it. She herself had read it last year in the library. "Locking Spells! Do you want to learn it?"

It was a stupid question, she scolded herself. Of course he wanted to learn it. What other reason could he have to take the book with him?

The girl heard Tuan's question and looked up. She has a pretty face.
"My name?" she repeated with a fanit smile.
She has a beautiful  smile. The Golden Prefect badge shining on her chest. That reminded him of Adam Harrington. He was the  one that lead the First year to the Ravenclaw's domitory. Tuan only has seen him sometimes.
"He must be very busy. Solving First Years' problem and tons of things" thought Tuan.
Then he looked at the girl exactly when she started to answer.
"Sure. Marcia Kingsleigh, nice to meet you."
She answered without stopping twisting her hair. She was about to present her hand to Tuan then she stood up to do some sort of " Twisted removing". He looked up. Above his head is many of the tree's branches. They are so big. Some rays of "mischivously" sunshine shone down his head. They seem liked ti dance. Happy memories started to pour down into his head again. His family camping in the beach in the sun. He would lie down on the sand while his brother will do some some splashing or building sandcastle. Kingsleigh sat down again and presented her hand. Tuan shook it while saying:
"My pleasure to meet you, Kingsleigh. I'm Tuan pham, Ravenclaw, First Year."
Then Kingsleigh asked if he wanted to learn the Locking Spell. Tuan thought foe a moment and nodded:
"I'd love to. Thanks!"

When he returned the greetings, Marcia had to silently repeat the name she had just heard. She tried to uphold a neutral face, but she felt unsure. She wasn't good with names and faces, and she already had problems remembering her classmates names.

Usually she build herself a memory hook in order to learn new names, and then she just hoped by repeating it countless times she would eventually remember the full names.

"Tuan, hi", she tried to speak it just as he had, but wasn't sure if she hit the pronunciation the way it was meant to. She only knew one Tuan, who was a figure in an old fairy tale her mother had told her. That would have to do it as memory hook.

She was about to make herself comfortable again, with her robe underneath her fulfilling the role as blanket, when she looked at Tuan in shock. "Wait what?" He was watching her expecting, then she realized her mistake.

Her head was shaking frantically while she held both her hands up. "Oh, no no, I can't teach you the spell! I'm sorry. I was just curious since you're reading the book. You have to do some homework, I'm afraid." Cross legged she shifted awkwardly and avoided his gaze. He was eager to learn, which was naturally for a Ravenclaw, but she was not the person who could help him.

"It's only been a few days, you will learn the spell later this year, together with the Unlocking Spell Alohomora. Anyway, how have your first days been? Are you happy to be in Ravenclaw?"

Marcia could only speak for her house, but she knew that there were some students who weren't happy to be sorted in their house. She herself had been surprised as well when the hat had sorted her into Slytherin, although it had helped that she had nice dorm mates.

Tuan smiled when he saw Kingsleigh's face a bit puzzled. He knew that his name will be a bit strange to Kingsleigh because it's not an English name. It is a Vietnamese name because his dad is a Vietnamese.
"If you found my name is difficult to pronounce, then you could called me T or Henry." said Tuan "My mom often called me Li..lit..little-T or Henry."
Oh, his mom. Tuan missed her so much. He missed the wonderful smell from the his mother's cookie or cake every afternoon and her scolding (he didn't even knows why). Then he laughed when he saw Kingsleigh's shocked face when she said she can't teach him. He stopped suddenly, realized it is very rude. His face turned red, he felt so embrassased that he wished there was a hole for him to jump in.
"Sorry, I didn't meant to. I just..just..well, I couldn't help it" apologized Tuan. "Oh yeah, I know I'll learn them in someday near. Charms is my favourite ssubject, you know."
He felt so glad that Kingsleigh changed the topic. About his very first days, well, there sre a lot to tell. The he started to tell Kingsleigh about how nervous he was when he in the Sorting Ceramony, how he overjoyed when he was sorted into Ravenclaw-His favourite house and hoe scared and lonely he was.
"That's all" said Tuan "How about you, I guess yours are much better than mine."
