The journey seemed to be lingering now that Drake had lost count of the trees he'd passed - he'd counted them to quell the nervous excitement he could feel in his lower abdomen - and it was becoming too dark to start a new count on anything at all. He settled instead, on reading through Hogwarts: A History. He'd managed all of five pages before he huffed and shoved it roughly back into his bag.

He shouldn't be feeling so nervous, he thought, it really didn't matter what house he found himself in, his mother had been a Ravenclaw and his father a Slytherin, his house, in the long run, shouldn't mean very much at all and yet all he could picture was the sorting hat, sitting atop his head and stating something silly like; "You do not have a house, off to kitchens you go!". It was improbable, Impossible even and yet, he kept finding his mind drifting through it.

That was it! He was going to find the ultimate way to distract himself. He was going to scoff as much chocolate and sweets as his handful of gold would allow. If he paid the consequences for it later, well that just didn't matter.

His plan went well until his sixth chocolate frog (Fred, he'd named it) decided to jump out of the window. Poor Fred, never to be seen again. He started in on his Every Flavour beans next but quickly gave up when he received a hot pepper sauce one. In the end, he decided to write. Words upon words of his worries, laying them all out so they would leave him. Once he was done, he crumpled it up and threw it out of the window to follow after Fred.

Hopefully those would never be seen again, either.
