Ishwari had always been skeptical of pets. She never ever wanted one. She never understood how her friends liked their own pets. I mean, they're just so...needy. They need your care, they need food, maintainance.. how terribly boring this it is!

Once during her summer holidays, she accompanied by her father, visited to Diagon Alley to buy her school supplies. Her father was a prank lover. So before buying anything he rushed to the Weasleys' Wizard Wheezes.

Dad! I want Skiving Snackboxes. I really get bored in history of magic classes and wish to get invisible from that class. Please get me one!

Haha! I'll surely get one. I can feel you honey. But just don't let mummy know about it, otherwise she'll not give me today's dinner XD

As dad was busy buying joke products, Ishwari found herself wandering into the adjacent shop, Magical Menagerie. She told herself she was just curious, but as she gazed into the eyes of a majestic snowy owl, she felt a strange connection. Some familiar connection.

At first, Ishwari tried to ignore it, tearing her eyes away from its piercing yellow gaze. But, as she continued watching him by her side eye, she couldn't shake the feeling that the owl was watching her back with the same curiousness. Ishwari glanced back, and sure enough, it was staring right at her! But she can't really deny the fact that the owl was really very handsome and charming. Charming enough to attract a human towards him.

Ishwari walked up to her father and asked, Dad, is my face looking funny or something?

Wait, wh-at? Did I just say indirectly that I'll adopt you? Nah! I don't like pets.
But he feels like he's my lost friend. Why? And he seems pretty intelligent too. Should I really buy him? Should I?

The owl let out a soft hoot, as if encouraging her to continue. Ishwari smiled, feeling a strange sense of comfort. I mean, I'm not even sure I'm ready for this kind of responsibility. But...there's something about you...

Ishwari was walking back to her father, feeling a little embarrassed.

But when I look into his eyes I feel like I found a long-lost friend - or, dare I say it, the love of my life. Haha, I know, I know, it's an owl! But umm.. I'll get him. Ok! I decided I want him. I never liked any other animal or bird as I felt for him. Now he's mine.

Dad! Sorry to disturb you. But I want an owl.. umm... Can I get one?

What? You want an owl? Stop kidding ishu! I know how much you hate the idea of having a pet.

As Ishwari left the shop, she kept thinking for a name for him and asked him whether he liked them. He grunted for literally every name.

Finally when she said Phoenix? He hooted with some different type of joy.

And they set off towards home, with Phoenix on her shoulder.
