Fallen Down
Oh my GOODNESS! Sarah was excited. Words could not produce the amount of pure glee that was pouring out of the boisterous little Hufflepuff. Sarah felt her legs bounce with each step, as she quickly hurried off to her destination.
Where was she going? Well, that was simple! History of Magic. Yes, you heard her right. That specific little class all about how Wizarding communities came to be the way they were.
Now, while others might laugh at that thought (Really, History of Magic? That boring old subject that was known to put any inattentive student to sleep within mere minutes?). Oftentimes, in class, it was the course that many students found hard to pay attention to, as it featured long lectures of previous events. There would be a lot of bored looks or blank faces as the teacher ranted about topics. For those students were Wizards and had probably heard a thing or two about those events already. That was just the culture they grew up in.
Meanwhile, Sarah was quite different in that regard. She'd eagerly raise her hand to practically every question, jot down notes as fast as she could, or listen with awed eyes as the Professor continued to tell a tale. For her, this was a new world. This was hearing the stories that filled in the gaps to her 'Muggle' version of history. She'd listen to the stories being told of wars or strife with wide eyes, wondering how exactly those people dealt with it. That was why she had a love of history in the first place. The people. She was utterly fascinated about every aspect of people in historical eras. How did they dress? How did they react? How did they think?
For her, this was the class that gave her probably the most hindsight about being in the Wizarding world. She'd learn events that had influenced their culture or hear of why specifically some things are run the way they are. It was a comforting class to her, as it oftentimes gave her the context she lacked growing up in a muggle family.
Not to mention, it was just so...exciting to her! She loved hearing the stories of uprisings or how Goblins came to manage Gringotts. It just made the world make more sense to her and in this time..where..really, she felt like her world was flipped upside down and everything she ever knew before felt...tainted...it was nice to have some concrete history, one where she knew what Wizards were up to. She'd wonder what really did happen in Muggle History...how HAD Wizards changed that?...Well..maybe this class would help her with that.
That brings us to what she's off to now. The child scurries through the halls, trying to get there so she could be the first. Then maybe she could chat with the professor a bit before class started! She always loved being early.
However, Sarah had also neglected the fact to realize that well...when you take a clumsy individual rushing down the corridor with the hard blocky edges of a centuries old staircase, accidents were bound to occur. It was like an unstoppable force meets an immovable object. It wasn't gonna be pretty.
And that's exactly what happened when the young girl lost her footing on the edge of a certain step, causing her to tumblr forward and crash into...some sort of pillar?...
THUMP!
Sarah didn't even register what had happened until the her body crashed onto the floor below. She felt the wind get knocked out of her system, pain suddenly appearing in her knees, which had slid across the floor.
"Oof-" She heard herself mutter, letting out the yelp. Ow. That HURT. Thankfully, the damage was minor...with nothing a plaster couldn't fix.
But a sudden realization hit her as she spotted something next to her. That pillar that she hit in her tumble?...Yeah...it wasn't a pillar.
It was a person.
"Oh goodness! Oh goodness! I'm so sorry-" She spat out, slightly panicked. She had just ran into another student and taken them down with her....She gazed at the other figure, nervously, as she got up.

Zephyr was minding their own business and walking to History of Magic.
They weren't very fond of the class, but nevertheless, they still went. Don't get them wrong, they still enjoyed the class. It was interesting to learn about all the crazy witches and wizards out there.
However, they much preferred learning about spells than the people who made them. Zephyr hoped they could one day make a spell, but that's ridiculous. They would much rather work on quidditch instead. They've never even touched a broom though, so that might be difficult.
Zephyr was usually a little late to class, but today they decided to head there a bit early because- well, they really didn't have a reason. They just decided since they had nothing to do they might as well head there and maybe find a way to get extra credit. They were behind in classes so extra credit would be helpful.
Zephyr hummed softly as they walked down the hall. They said hello to a few of the paintings and had a small conversation with one about nifflers. the hall was fairly empty aside from a few students coming and going, and one person reading a book on a bench.
as Zephyr was walking past an old stairwell, they heard loud footsteps. Before they could process it, they were knocked down onto the ground. "bloody hell!" they shrieked. They weren't hurt, but were a bit shocked. The person that ran into them seemed to be a Hufflepuff around their age.
The Hufflepuff apologized as they got up. "it's not a big deal, don't worry bout' it." Zephyr replied as they stood up. "what're you in such a hurry fer' anyway?" they asked in their Irish accent.

Sarah stood there, still nervous. Poor kid. She just barreled into them. Then, she took in their features. Bright red hair, with a contrasting dark green robe. A Slytherin is seems. How interesting.
Then she heard their voice. An Irish accent? Oh wow! She'd never met anyone from the isle.
"Are you sure? I've got plasters in me satchel!" Sarah spoke, holding up her bag, which was frankly, a cluttered mess at the moment..It was certainly take her a minute, but she could find them....it was always good to have first-aid around.
"Where was I-Oh! I was off to History of Magic! I love that class- got so distracted that I missed the top step...and well...took a little fall...sorry for crashing into you", Sarah muttered, before opening her bag, and getting out a small pouch of lemon drops, she rambled off to the Irish Slytherin.
"Yeh! It's just so...mesmerizing y'know? Learning about the history of things! The wizarding world! I barely knew what Goblins were before I attended the lessons, it's great! It's just- ah! I love history," She cheerfully spoke.
She held up the bag of sweets to the Slytherin, giving them a grin.
"Here, mate, for the trouble," She explained, sheepish, giving them the bag of lemon drops. They were amazing little things, and Sarah found herself delighted by them. Who knew the wizarding world had such good snacks?

Zephyr was a bit shaken after the fall. They weren't expecting to have castle dust all over their new robes. Their last ones were destroyed in potions class.
Zephyr nodded as she spoke, brushing off some remaining castle dust off their robe. As the Hufflepuff rambled on, Zephyr took her in. Yellow hair and yellow robes. A stereotypical Hufflepuff attitude too.
dang, they really like history of magic. Zephyr thought, listening.
The Hufflepuff seemed to be happy while talking about it. Reminded them of the way her brother's face glowed up anytime someone mentioned a dragon. "Yeah, the class is alrig-" before they could finish their sentence the Hufflepuff shoved some lemon drops into her hands. Zephyr was actually quite fond of lemon drops, although they preferred chocolate frogs.
"Oh, uh, thanks, I like lemon drops, thank you." They returned a smile to the Hufflepuff. "And once again, it's no problem, I'm alrigh'. Me name is Zephyr by the way. Ye can call me Zeph if you'd like. What's yer name?" Zephyr said, stuffing the lemon drops into their pocket.
The Hufflepuff replied, searching through her satchel. Before Zephyr could respond, the Hufflepuff changed the subject to Zephyrs earlier question. Are you sure? I've got plasters in me satchel!
The poor blondie seemed nervous. Zephyr was going there too, and now that they thought about it, they have seen this same girl in the class, always chatting up the professor."Where was I-Oh! I was off to History of Magic! I love that class- got so distracted that I missed the top step...and went...took a little fall...sorry for crashing into you"

Sarah hummed to herself, listening to the ginger speak. They seemed alright with everything....I mean, as alright as someone who just got slammed into could be.
"Oh Zephyr! Wow! Uh...Isn't that a word for breeze? That's so cool- your name means wind! Ooo do you like the wind? Heh! You're named after it!" She rambled off, in an odd way, before realizing that this is was an introduction and to make a complete fool of herself.
"My name's Sarah, nice to meet ya, Zeph!"She replied, holding out her hand for a shake. "I'm glad you like the lemondrops, I was worried ya wouldn't, I might have some other goodies in my bag worst case, but yeah, lemondrops are me favourite!"
"Sorry sorry to cut you off. What were you saying about History of Magic? How do you find it? Oh! oh! What's your favourite class?" She asked questions in a fast-paced tone. Really, this kid seemed interesting and she just couldn't help herself in quizzing them.
"So..uh...green robes mean Slytherin right? Yeh! So...how's being a Slytherin? Your house always looks so formal and pretty whenever I pass people in it, I know it's in the dungeons...Oh! Is the dungeons scary? Is all dark down there?...Well probably not, well..if it IS dark, then I probably got some sort of torch in me bag that you could borrow...or...uh...you know you could probably get a lantern. But it seems real fancy from what I've heard....it's right by the lake isn't it? Oooo- what kinda stuff do you see in there?" She rapid-fire quizzed, before realizing she hadn't let this poor soul get a word in. Her face turned embarrassed, what poor manners!
"...Oh...sorry, I just get excited," She chuckled, sheepish, "I'll let you talk,".
She shut her mouth for a bit, just letting the ginger speak.

Zephyr laughed softly, half from awkwardness, half from amusement.
"Uh, yeah, I guess it does mean the wind. I don't think much of it. My dad said he just thought it was cool. And it's nice to meet ya' too." They took the girls hand and shook it. Zephyr paused a minute to let the blondie talk.
"The dungeons aren't really dark or scary, not like the muggle movies. The dungeon is lamp lit, so it's bright enough. So I don't need a lantern. Thank ye though!" Zephyr usually wasn't a talker, especially to people who bumped into them, but this kid seemed pretty decent.
"And our common room is pretty cool, actually. We can see the bottom of the lake. The giant squid can sometimes be seen in the distance. We have yet to see merfolk though. The room is quite cold, unfortunately."
Zephyr repeated exactly what they thought, or at least tried to repeat it from what they remembered.
"So, um, yeah." they finally finish. "What's being a Hufflepuff like? Yer robes and personality give it away."

The girl paid attention, excited to get to know this new Slytherin person a bit more.
"Hey, what do you wanna be when you grow up? She asked the ginger. Then, she realized the Slytherin had replied to her earlier question. Oooo..Slytherin, her mind wandered again, rambling out a huge paragraph, before she sheepishly let the other person get a word in. She stood there, silent, waiting for them to finish. Really, talking too much was a bad habit of hers..
Oh wow!
"Um, that's great! Just...uh...what's a half-blood?" She only knew that people came from wizard families or they didn't....she wasn't really sure about the specific terms. Then, she heard about the common room.
"Oh...so it IS well-lit...Cool! Ooo...Is it like a cave?...That'd be neat! I'd love to live in a cave! Though, our common room is nice too! It's like an underground burrow, a lot of sunlight, with plants...it's all nature, you know," She hummed, ranting more about her common room. She loved the place. Then she heard the question of her being a Hufflepuff.
"Very nice," She immediately replied, "A lot of people are there to support you....which...was really great for me cause I had no clue what was going on, heh....but...it's really welcoming..and the common room is still very cozy! Just good vibes and good people!" She chirped out.
She shook back, a bit more energetic. She gave them a friendly grin. "Well I think it's cool too!" She commented, still a bright look in her eyes. "I don't know where my mom got my name...it's a little plain, heh, but I like it! I think she just heard it around and decided she liked it, not sure," Sarah explained with a shrug. Then, she asked about their favourite class and got her reply."Uh, yeah, I guess it does mean the wind. I don't think much of it. My dad said he just thought it was cool. And it's nice to meet ya' too." They took the girls hand and shook it.
Sarah beamed. "Oh! Oh! I love charms! It's so much fun! I've been really enjoying the spells we can do....they're just so flexible...and...a-Awesome! You can learn anything from cleaning to...well, healing spells....That's what I think I wanna do...be...a wizard...doctor person. Oooo or or! I could be the person to MAKE the medicine! That'd be epic! Ooooo I could mix and match until I get the best treatments ever!" She gushed on, before looking at the Slytherin."My favorite class is probably charms or flying. History of magic isn't my cuppo' tea, but I can get through it without falling asleep... most times."

Zephyr listened to the blonde Hufflepuff talk a bit.
"Yeah, charms are pretty cool. I really like how much easier it makes things."
Then the Blondie asked an odd question.
"Well, there are 4 blood types. Pure blood, which means you are born to parents from a long line of witches and wizards. Muggle borns are, as in the name, born by muggles. But I assume you know this. And Half bloods are witches and wizards born to a wizard dad and a muggle mum, or the other way around. Then there are wizard borns, who are born to two magical parents, but they don't come from a long line of witches and wizards like pure bloods." Zephyr explained, hoping it made enough sense.
The blondie replied to their earlier question.

Zephyr nods. "that sounds pretty comfy. Our common room is pretty fancy looking and such. Not the most comfortable or cozy room, but the view is pretty nice. I'm not a big an of nature, I'd prefer staying indoors where I can control the weather, but plants are pretty cool.""Oh...so it IS well-lit...Cool! Ooo...Is it like a cave?...That'd be neat! The blondie replied to their earlier question.
"That sounds lovely. The Slytherins are nice enough. Some seem to be a bit snobbish, but they're still pleasant most of the time. Some people come from prestigious families. I'm just your typical half blood. Born to a wizard and muggle mum, with no big connections. My dad and aunt were both Gryffindor's, but my grandma was a Slytherin. We never talk much, but she likes to brag about how she was the best witch at Hogwarts and how she was so disappointed her kids were gyriffindors. Funny thing is, my gran is pretty much the only Slytherin in our family other than me and a few other distant cousins. Her mum was a Ravenclaw." Zephyr let out a small laugh."Very nice, A lot of people are there to support you....which...was really great for me cause I had no clue what was going on, heh....but...it's really welcoming..and the common room is still very cozy! The Hufflepuff girl would listen, smile plastered into her face.
"I like the dancing one! Heh...I just think it would be funny to make someone do in a duel y'know? Just let loose that spell on them....watch them boogie," She snickers.
Then, after she asked about blood types...she was surprised that how thorough the young Slytherin was with their response. I mean..wow...that really explained everything.
"So..uh...what if both parents are muggleborn?", She asks, blinking..., "Is that wizard-born?".
Very cool indeed. Then she heard about the Slytherin common room and she brightened.
"Oh my goodness! That's amazing! Did your dad live Gryffindor? That's all the brave people right? Wow!...And uh, yeah..my Gran's a bit of a tough one too...she's an old hardened Northern type....y'know? Talks a lot 'bout the past...she used to work in a factory and all..for tires?...Yeh,"Sarah mumbled, her family was always a bit of an awkward conversation.
"But, um, it's just me, my mum, and my baby sister. I dunno where my mum went to school...she's a muggle and all...I'm pretty sure my dad is too...um...he left when I was a little kid...I don't see him...well...ever," Sarah commented, before quickly changing topics, "But yeah! I've got a little sister, her name's Leah! She's one...she's so cute, she's just learning to walk and all....just before I left, she was just started to explore around...I had to help my nan baby proof the place before I got on the express, heh.."
The thought of her sister made Sarah smile....while there had been rough times with all of her family members, her sister was the delight of them all. She adored that little baby with the chubby cheeks and the ability to somehow fit anything she wasn't supposed to into her mouth....She missed her.
"Do you get on well with your family?" She asked Zephyr.
"Really? What charms are your favourite?" Sarah asked, tone warm. She herself always found charms interesting."Yeah, charms are pretty cool. I really like how much easier it makes things."
Huh, that made a lot of sense...so....two wizards...wizard-born....two muggles...muggleborn, which was what she was....Half-bloods were half'n'half...then you got purebloods. Oh wow...an entire lineage of wizards."Well, there are 4 blood types. Pure blood, which means you are born to parents from a long line of witches and wizards. Muggle borns are, as in the name, born by muggles. But I assume you know this. And Half bloods are witches and wizards born to a wizard dad and a muggle mum, or the other way around. Then there are wizard borns, who are born to two magical parents, but they don't come from a long line of witches and wizards like pure bloods."
"So..uh...what if both parents are muggleborn?", She asks, blinking..., "Is that wizard-born?".
Very cool indeed. Then she heard about the Slytherin common room and she brightened.
"Oooo....the view, eh? What's that like?...You get to see all of the underwater creatures...I...I heard from someone there's...merfolk in the lake?...Ooo...are they like Ariel?" She questioned, tone enthusiastic. Then, she listened in to the other kid's family...wow..."that sounds pretty comfy. Our common room is pretty fancy looking and such. Not the most comfortable or cozy room, but the view is pretty nice. I'm not a big an of nature, I'd prefer staying indoors where I can control the weather, but plants are pretty cool."
Her mum was a Ravenclaw."
"Oh my goodness! That's amazing! Did your dad live Gryffindor? That's all the brave people right? AH! I'm so sorry for my response being so late! My week has been crazy busy and somehow this slipped my radar. I'll make a point to be more diligent about responding in the future! Also, thanks for the awesome RP so far

Fallen Down
The hufflepuff seemed to listen intently.
After they explained the question about the blood types from earlier, the blondie resonded.
"I assume so, since both their parents are magical, after all."
They liked how curious the blondie was, She seemed like a nice kid.
Zephyr then explained the common room.
Zephyr burst out laughing.
"We don't see the merfolk often, they don't like humans very much. And they are nothing like Ariel. They aren't the prettiest creatures, thats for sure. But they look kinda cool, I guess. Just not like mermaids you see in muggle stories."
The blondie then responded to Zephyrs comment about their family.
"Well, ye seem like a nice kid. Dunno why your father would leave ya. No one should leave their family." They could tell the hufflepuff was uncomfortable with the subject so they didn't push it. "And my gramps is actually from the northern UK as well, but the rest of me family is Scottish and Irish. And I have a baby sibling too. He's four."
"Ye. Me dad is a jokester and loves to play around. He used to take me and me brother to his work so that we could see all of the creatures he works with. Me mum is calmer and more reserved, but she can be sweet if she likes."
Zephyr paused for a moment.
"What time is it?" They asked.

"I suppose reparo and Alhomora are useful. I haven't mastered them yet, but my dad uses reparo all the time. And you can guess that locked rooms are nothing on him. What's the point of a lock on my door anyway?" they laugh."Really? What charms are your favourite?"
"That is funny. I like more useful ones though. I'm not big on dueling to be honest.""I like the dancing one! Heh...I just think it would be funny to make someone do in a duel y'know? Just let loose that spell on them....watch them boogie,"
