On one sunny afternoon in April, Brookine walked to the Magical Menagerie to buy a pet. She partially wanted a cat, a cat who would be her emotional support buddy. But it was tricky finding the correct cat.
She walked into the door, held out her arm in greeting and said, "Afternoon!" Her strong Welsh accent had a bit of a chirp in it, although it was somewhat forced somewhat a good mood, but Brookline had no idea she was in such a good mood, was it that wanting a pet made her in such a chirper mood that she was kinder? Or chirper? Brookline had no idea but a small smiled shaped her lips, her great dark blue eyes shining with pretty golden flecks.
"Good afternoon! How are you on this fine day, young lady?" The man, standing over 6 feet tall, joyfully said. "Tired, how 'bout yeh?" Brookline yawned, her head tipping back, as her bun slightly touched her back, and her blazing blue eyes contained brighter flecks. "Ah, I feel ya, but I'm good -- feel free to take a good look 'round before ya decide anything," The man laughed hearty and his broom he was holding shook in his hands.
The pretty Ravenclaw girl just smiled, and went over to the warm-blooded animals, to take a look. There where cats, rabbits, puffs, snakes, lizards, snakes, and to her dismay, rats and spiders. She carefully and quickly inched away from them, petted a yellow rabbit with long ears. The rabbit's foot thumped and thumped, it looked like it enjoyed the whole thing, the way its face tilted back and its eyes closed. She smiled and giggled. 'Definitely a choice,' Brookline thought, beaming.
Brookline walked to the cat area, and her mouth dropped. It was the cutest kitten she had ever seen! It was a brown tabby, it had beautiful brown swirls, its tail a dark rosy brown colour with brown markings, and its large baby watery eyes were a beautiful brown, it made her think of her best friend Peter. Peter had lovely watery brown eyes, it felt like Brookine was drowning in them every time she saw them. She instinctly picked up the kitten, stroked it, and its head rubbed against her hand, purring. To Brookline, it felt rusty and warm but she knew this small kitten was just a tiny baby.
Brookline walked up to the counter, placed the kitten on the counter and said, "This one please, what is... Her birthdate?" she said, her accent thick. "3-14-24, she is 'round seven weeks old," The man said, lifting a forefinger, rubbed the tabby's M, and Brookline heard the tabby's purr, her lips instantly shifted in a smile, she felt warm inside, like hot soup just trickled down her throat, warming all her insides. "Er.. 13 gallons?"
"Yep!" The man took his forefinger off the kitten's M, and took the gallons out of the Ravenclaw's hand, her skin fair and soft.
"Thank you!" Brookline exclaimed, as she walked out of the door, her new tabby kitten cuddled in her arms, beaming, hearing her kitten purr loudly. "Take good care of her!" The man called after her. Brookline heard him, and showed him she heard with a simple happy wave. She didn't know what to call this tabby yet but this rather beautifully brown kitten sure looked like a tiger...
