The Night That Haunts My Mind
A glimpse into the past. July 2015. Age ten.
It was a nice warm Afternoon in London England. Plenty of things to entertain a curious ten year old who yearns for adventure. It was normal for this young girl's Aunt to let her explore the streets of London, well more of the nature reserves and the woodlands that is. Today the young explorer chose queens woods. It wasn't pure planning that it was these woods Eri Windstone picked. She just never really visited those woods very often so she deemed those woods perfect for exploring since she wasn't very familiar with the layout of the woods.
The young brunette walked towards the beginning of the woods. The sight was magnificent to the small girl's eyes. She loved being anywhere outdoors and also exploring anywhere. Though being good at navigating through woods she had to be careful to not get lost and not to loose track of time. She didn't want to get stuck in the woods at dark.
After an hour of climbing and going deep in the woods, Eri Windstone found a deep crack in the ground that lead to a cave, at least she thought so.
The brunette's mind was having an internal warfare. One side wanted to explore this deep cave, the other was against it for fear of getting lost and nobody would know she even went into the cave. The side that was cautious eventually one and Eri walked close to the crack just to look down into it.
As the young girl was walking some of the ground was unstable fell away revealing a small hole in which Eri's foot fell in causing her to trip. A loud crack was heard (resulting in a broken ankle). The young girl tried standing and had a shooting pain in her ankle causing her to fall back down. In a state of realization Eri realized it was getting dark and she couldn't walk and even if she could stabilize her ankle she wouldn't make it very far. She would have to spend the night in the dark forest with all the creepy creatures.

The Night That Haunts My Mind
The first thing that was on the brunette's mind was securing her ankle so she could make a fire. So she gathered a couple a thick sticks the same high to and ripped a piece of cloth off of her shirt and tied the sticks securely to her ankle. Then she crawled around a found a stick long enough to use as some sort of crutch. With the aid of a stick crutch and stick splint the young girl looked for tinder, sticks, and leaves to build a fire with. And a safe spot to put the fire away from low bearing tree branches.
After a lot of very painful hobbling and gathering, Eri had flint and a rock and was baninging them together almost getting the fire started. Then the tinder lit and she got the fire started and began to put the tepee shape pile of sticks on the fire and then leaves to make smoke. To keep the mosquitoes away and so if anyone was looking they would see the smoke.
Eri was racking her brain on what to do next. She only knew what to do because she had read a bunch of books on nature survival. She needed to get water, but she knew there wasn't a water source in the woods, at least he thought. But since she was only planning on staying the night she needed a safe place to sleep away from animals that might try to eat her.
There was a tall boulder that protruded from the crack of the cave she had found and a bunch of boulders the size of an eighteen wheeler truck's tire. Knowing they might be too heavy for her to vary she used her stuck to get her over there started pushing on the boulder getting it to move a foot, then a second foot. That was good enough it was touching the big boulder like a wall. Now she needed to move another one about three feet to act like a second wall. After a lot of struggling she got it to be another wall. The a little while a later a third boulder joined the two making a closed square against the tall boulder.
A loud howl was heard from a long ways behind her and Eri looked behind her nothing was there, but it was probably far behind her getting closer. She needed something to put over the top of her shelter that a wolf or coyote whatever made that sound, couldn't get in.
Adrenaline courses through her making her throbbing ankle a mere dull thud that she could ignore. She found a boulder that fit on top that was not as thick as the others, but wouldn't be moved easily by animals. Eri layer her stick by the little stone hut and ignored the full pain that wasn't trying to get worse and pick the little boulder and put it standing up on the farthest rock and sat down into her shelter and got the rock to fall down giving her protection from the outside world and whatever had made the howling.

The Night That Haunts My Mind
Huddled up inside of the small stone shelter, Eri waited for morning. It probably feel like morning would never come. That wasn't the main wory Eri had, the main worry was that whatever made that howling noise would find her stone shelter and try and kill her. It probably wouldn't happen, but she wasn't sure.
About ten minutes after the stone shelter was built another howl was heard closer than before. She was hoping the fire would scare it away, but it probably wouldn't help. There was a sound of another hlwl but this time a few feet away from her hiding spot.
The brunette tries to quite her breathing so the wolf can't hear her. All of the sudden everything went quite. Then a loud snarl and scratching noises on the top rock of her shelter. Eri held in a gasp and makes her self small and be as close to the ground as possible. She didn't know how long the wolf would try to get into her hiding spot.
About an hour later she had lost hope in trying to sleep. And the wolf had stopped scratching her stone shelter, but it still paced to and fro waiting for a chance to strike. The brunette didn't know how much she could take of this. She was hungry, tired, and in pain, but this would be over soon, and she will be fine, right?
