"I have to find a bathroom and quick. If not, it will be too late. I can't be picky literally anywhere humanly decent will do. If I don't make it, I'll be the laughingstock of Hogwarts, the boy who peed his pants. I can see the headlines already." Tommy thought to himself as he frantically ran through the hallways looks for a bathroom.

Luck was on his side, or so he thought, when he came across what appeared to be a bathroom. Sure, it was a little dirty, but given his dire circumstances, he didn't really have time to inspect the bathroom and at this point, he didn't care. It was, after all, humanly decent to use the bathroom here.

Running into the bathroom stall, he slammed it behind him before he was barely able to sit down. After he was able to collect himself, he started to notice the bathroom was a little more than just dirty. It seemed rundown, odd for a bathroom at such a prestigious school such as Hogwarts. Tommy knew instantly what he must do. After running back to the Slytherin common room, Tommy grabbed as much cleaning supplies as he could carry and ran back to the bathroom to begin cleaning.

He would do his part and be a contributing member of Hogwarts even if it meant cleaning a filthy, seemingly abanonded bathroom. The fact that the bathroom actually was abandoned has not yet crossed his mind as he could not fathom as to how a bathroom could possibly be abandoned.

No matter how much Tommy scrubbed, some dirt never seemed to go away. Scrub scrub scrub scrub. Tommy's hands began to feel raw and sting from cleaning. This was clearly more than a one-person job, but he wanted to be a contributing member of Hogwarts and a make a difference. Clearly, someone had faltered in their task of keeping the bathroom clean and he would b the one to help them... Then a bleak thought crossed his mind.

"What if they weren't coming back?"

No, Tommy told himself. Surely Hogwarts would not allow such a bathroom to become so poorly maintained. He tried to cheer himself up. The potential house points he could earn for Slytherin were appealing. Or maybe, just maybe, Tommy would be able to make a friend of the bathroom keeper. That is if there was a bathroom attendant at all. No. Tommy had to shake these negative thoughts and focus on the task at hand. He had to clean the bathroom. If not him, who else would?

It was becoming clear to Tommy that no one else was going to show up to help him clean the bathroom. He knew he didn't have to clean the entirety of the bathroom and that the progress he had already made was already an improvement to the initial status of the bathroom, but he didn't want to leave the job half done.

For now, Tommy would continue to clean. Fighting through the pain in his hands as he continued to scrub and clean the bathroom. Tommy did hope for some help, but his hope was diminishing with each stroke of his cleaning brush.

Getting lost was a regular phenomenon for Sarah. When your primary residence at the moment is a gigantic castle, one was bound to take a wrong turn every once in a while. Sometimes, she'd even try to get lost, loving the feeling of being able to explore a new place. A few times she'd end up in a place that left her stunned: the moving staircase, the quidditch pitch, the kitchens run by the little elf creatures. It all amazed the girl! Then, she snap away with her little portable camera.

Her habit of constant wandering during free-time had left her with a knack for overseeing odd situations. Guess that's what she gets for attending a wizarding school. She still can't get over that fact. A wizarding school! A wizarding school! She's learning how to do magic! The mere thought of it is sending her into a cheerful grin.

Well, Sarah found herself going down a corridor she never had before (which was fairly common for her). Yet, as she walked, she saw the polished floors and the pleasant smelling aroma decrease into grime-stained walls and dust ridden floors. Hm. Well, she was never too bothered by mess, growing up in a rough area of a city. Litter was a porch decoration back at her home.

This kind of dirt was different though, it seemed much more old. It was the type of dirt that just stuck there and stayed for decades. Then, she heard a noise more peculiar than the unkemptness of the lavatory.

Scrubbing.

Sarah peeked her head into the location, seeing the sign. It was the abandoned toilets. She'd heard rumours of this place from her housemates and from the older kids. She was surprised to see another figure. A boy her age dressed in green robes, Slytherin was his house, right?, on his knees. Upon closer inspection, it seemed he was armed with a whole barrage of clean supplies. He was taking on the floors pretty well, scrubbing and scrubbing. It made her wonder what the lad was doing. So she asked.

"Uh-Hi, mate! Whatcha doing?" Her voice called, trying to be friendly. She waltzed into the room fully to get a better view of what he was working on.

"You know, you've got some awfully good scrubbing skills there!"She complimented, face cheery as she looked at the other boy.

Tommy thought it was obvious what he was doing, but not wanting to be mean, he said, "I'm restoring this horrid bathroom to its former glory. I hope the attendant of this bathroom is promptly fired for allowing it to reach this horrid state." Tommy looked at the girl and thought that she could be of use for this task.

He soaked an extra sponge in his bubbly, soapy water mixture. Wringing it semi-dry before extending his hand to the girl. "We must clean this bathroom to be upstanding and contributing members of Hogwarts.". Tommy knew extra hands would make the work easier, even if they were less committed to the cause than he was.

"In the meantime, you can tell me of yourself. I am Tommy Patterson, a first year in Slytherin. I hope to become a high standing and contributing member of house Slytherin." It was nice for Tommy being able to have a conversation without a lie. This was the first time he could recall having a conversation without lying since his first encounter at Hogwarts. He began to wonder if it was a habit, or the refining of his natural ability.

He knew it was better to be filled with thoughts of random things than pay attention to the cleaning, as it would make the task feel even longer and more painful as his hands would be rubbed raw. Another student aiding him would result in the job being done quicker and allow him to make conversation, which would be easier than constantly having to think of new thoughts to distract himself.

Sarah listened to the lad, blinking, before her mouth grew into a bubbly grin.

"OK!"She exclaimed, rolling with it. She took the offered sponge with a vigor and began scrubbing with all her might. Honestly, she could probably think of better things to do with her time, but hey! Might as well....Plus, she hadn't really interacted with a Slytherin before. The boy seemed quite prideful of his house, speaking of it with an air of confidence. Oh wow, he really was dedicated. That she could respect.

"Oh-tell you about myself? Uh, alright! Hi, My name's Sarah, I'm from Stoke, my favourite color's pink, Ooo! What's yours? Where are you from? How's being a Slytherin? What do think happened to the bathrooms that made them so mucky...Do think something's in here?!-" . Sarah cut herself off, realizing she was probably overwhelming the boy with questions.

"Er-Sorry, I just get me'self worked up into a bit of a frenzy when I'm excited," She admitted, still with a kind smile,"Here, one thing at a time. What's your favourite colour?".

She waited for the boy's response as she tried to get rid of a hint of dirt that was stuck in a small little dent in the floor. She was doing her best to scrub it out, but that thing was persistent! But she wouldn't let down her new Slytherin friend-no! This was a good chance to make a good first impression. She just scrubbed harder.

"Well hello Sarah, my favourite colour is dark blue or dark purple" Tommy replied to the first question, missing the remaining questions she fired at him. She then repeated her question to which Tommy said in a bit of a daze, "My favourite colour is either dark blue or dark purple" .

He may be a little overwhelmed with the enthusiasm of the girl, but he had to admit it was nice to feel like someone WANTED to talk to him. He hoped he would not repeat a question she had already asked but in trying to show mutual interest Tommy asked "What are you favourite classes? Mine are Herbology and Astronomy" .

Tommy was pleased with the progress they were making in the bathroom. It was noticeably cleaner. Perhaps if they finished soon, he would ask the girl to do something more fun so they could get to know one another more. Asking her hobbies would be a good start to this, he thought.

Tommy was not very confident in his social abilities, but he knew the only way to improve them would be to keep talking with and meeting new people. This was Tommy's second interaction with someone from Hufflepuff and they were both extremely kind. He was starting to form an extremely high opinion of people from Hufflepuff for being beyond nice.

She listened to the boy, a bubbly grin on her face. She fidgeted as she heard his answers.

"Dark Purple or Dark Blue? Well, those are neat colours!"She replied, grinning at him. He seemed like a proud individual and certainly someone who valued cleanliness with how hard they were working. She perked up when the boy asked her another question, excitement taking over.

"Ooo! ooo! I LOVE history of magic, it's just so interesting you know? What with all of the battles, conflicts, social history...Ah! I just...LOVE it! I don't know...it's just- I'm not too well informed on the wizarding world so this is really nice for me to learn about what I've missed out on...Er...why do you like your favourites?," Sarah speaks, spewing out the words with a real level of delight.

Sarah watched as they continued to scrub their minds away. It was clear that they were making progress, as the room went from absolutely devastation to well...still dirty but able to be interacted with if you didn't have a hazmat suit.

She was really enjoying the company of the boy, honestly she enjoyed the company of anyone who'd listen to her ramble. The Hufflepuffs were quite the caring lot but she found it a lot more interesting whenever she got to talk with members of different houses. This boy seemed to hold himself to a high standard, he had ambition, he had a willpower to do things. The way he discussed things was with an air of knowing exactly what he's going to do and why. That was respectable. It was always good to have a plan for things.

"So...uh...How's being a Slytherin for you? Oh! Did you like getting sorted into it? The hat was really very polite to talk to, I started ranting to it, and I kinda forgot about the sorting itself until it told me we had to move along. Then I was off to Hufflepuff," The girl remarked, giggling a bit as she retold the tale.

"I've never had anyone in my family go..well..here cause...they're muggles and all...oo..what about you? Did your parents go here? What house were they?" She asked, amused, with a small smile on her face.

History of magic. Not really a course of interest to Tommy. Who cared about the past? He was a SEER, or so he told people. He only cared for the FUTURE. That would be a bit too mean to say, though. "Oh History of Magics is certainly one of the courses at Hogwarts!" Tommy blundered his reply. Sure, it was nicer than his initial statement, but it was still no better.

The bathroom seemed to be getting cleaner, they would soon be done. Tommy noticed how the girl loved to talk. Was this a trait common among all first years every year? As for interactions with the sorting hat... It was a letdown, to say the least. Tommy's body language changed despite trying to hide it. He was sharp with his replies The sorting hat was disappointing. My family is virtually all Ravenclaws with a few Gryfindors scattered in. I am the ONLY Slytherin." Tommy could not hide his bitterness as he almost hissed the last sentence.

It wasn't the girl's fault, but he felt as if his family would disown him due to being sorted. The bathroom still was not clean, but Tommy's hands were raw from scrubbing. He knew blisters would be forming in the night. He knew to call it quits. "Look, I'm sorry, I think all this cleaning is getting hard. My hands hurt. I think I'm going to call it quits for the day. Thank you for your help and company. I bid you ado."

Gemini had been dedicating every minute of his spare time to exploring the school. He was sure no one could memorise all of the school even if they were given ten lifetimes to do it, but he wanted to learn more. This time, he was on the second floor, and seeing an underused corridor, decided to go and see what was inside. After a while, he heard the sound of scrubbing, and he quietened his steps, something he had perfected over the years.

As he drew nearer, he glanced around a corner and saw two students scrubbing the floors and chatting away. Rational as ever, he took one cautious, quiet step forward, then another and another. He listened as they introduced themselves and talked. He, meanwhile stepped into a dark corner, watching.

He guessed that his stealthy and calculative way of doing things didn’t belong in Hufflepuff, but he was sure the sorting hat had seen some reason to put him in the house.

Lost in thought, he subconsciously took a step closer, and as he did so, stepped in a soapy patch. He slipped and hit the ground hard, the sharp tiles scratching long cuts up his arms and legs and palms. He winced : his cover was blown.

Resisting the urge to curse, he took a breath, looked up with his sharp grey-blue eyes, and simply said : “Sorry for the interruption. Please, carry on.”
