Spring had come and flowers were blooming. Tori could now continue her flower petal collection and flower drawings. She grabbed her bag and immediately left the common room. She would never be able to stay inside on this beautiful day.

She was jumping along the corridor with excitement. In her bag he had a sketchbook and scrapbook, as well as some muggle and wizard snacks. So she could stay in the Great Lake for a long time. Her hair was light and as green as her eyes. This was more of spring's green. Her clothes were also suitable for this yellow color. She was tired of preventing her hair from changing according to her emotions.

When she came towards the Great Lake, she was amazed by the beauty of the surroundings. There was no trace left of the whiteness of winter. She put her bag under the tree and looked around. Meanwhile, she saw a familiar face trying to do something by the lake. It was obvious that he had been in the lake for a long time. Sbe came to his smiling.

"Hi Cornelius. We haven't seen each other since winter. How are you? What are you doing? I think you've been here for a long time"

He chuckled at Victoria noting he’d probably been there a long time. With a smirk he instinctively checked his fingers for the sign of looking wrinkly like a raisin when he spent too much time in the water. A quick glance confirmed they were starting to get wrinkled, but the reality was his fingers were mostly out of the water as he waited to try to catch the little swimming tails in the water.

The motion of him checking his fingers caused him to accidentally drop the tadpole he had in his hands.

With a quick check his hands were already in the water trying to recapture the tadpole which he got - or at least he got one of the tadpoles. The stillness of him standing looking at the other one before had made them come back around him in the water.

He said “ My fingers aren’t raisins yet so I reckon I’m good. “ back towards Victoria. Then he smiled saying “ Ditch the shoes and come in the water there are baby merepeople to catch. Their tails are huge like mermaids. Do you know if there are mermaids in the lake? “ He was less than sure as for some reason he couldn’t take the creatures class until he was older, and he didn’t have the patience to look things up like that.

The reality that everything in the water near him and now quickly swimming away from his feet again were tadpoles was yet again missed by the too imaginative eleven year old.

She smiled. She realized that the boy was right. When she looked into the water, his fingers were not wrinkled yet. This looked fun.

"It sounds like a lot of fun. I'm coming right away. I never say no to a good entertainment. I heard there is, maybe we'll see a mermaid too. I can't wait to catch baby merepeople."

She asked as he looked for another one. It had been a long time, after all. It would be fun to talk.She saw another tiny frog and tried to catch it.

"I think I caught one. I wonder if I can draw these? It can't be as difficult as drawing flowers."

He blinked happy to hear there might be mermaids in the lake and hoped that he’d see one. Looking down he examined the creature in his hand that was mostly tail and realized the head of it was more fish-like than human like so definitely wasn’t a mermaid. Though it had a lot more tail than he thought merepeople had.

With a smile he waited till Victoria joined him in the water and with a smile said “ I got one in my hands. “ Then he attempted to show it to her tilting his hand resulting in some of the water escaping. So he only held it up for about ten seconds before leaning back in the water to ensure it had some water in his hands to swim around in.

Naturally, as was typical for him the creature he was calling a baby mereperson, which was in reality a tadpole, in his hand escaped as he tried to get more water.

So he stayed leaned over the water as he looked for another one trying to remain as still as he could. However, with Victoria also searching it was double the ripple. With a shrug he said “ I’ve managed to get a good routine here at Hogwarts with classes, and then exploring. When it’s cold, like in winter, I was looking for secret passages in the castle and now it is warmer I’m enjoying being outside when not in class. You? “

Naturally before he started at Hogwarts he thought he’d be more academic - but he simply was too easily distracted.

She looked at Cornelius' hand curiously. It was a little tadpole. She smiled when he saw this. She realized that the child had a very wide imagination. When he tried to get some more water, she started laughing involuntarily when she saw the little merperson running away.

"I was spending time outside, researching this beautiful and cool world in the library, doing homework. I wish there was a snow flower. I would love to see it here but I couldn't find it. It's not that easy to find though."

She was surprised when the water suddenly escaped from her grasp. That ran away so quickly that he realized after a few moments that the merepeople had escaped.

"I missed it. They are very fast. Now I understand why you've been here for a while."

When she dips her hand into the water again, she makes a sudden decision and throws some of the water to Cornelius. She starts laughing or even laughing. Her hair doesn't change because her hair is blonde.

To be honest he wasn’t sure what a snow flower was. Was it like a snow angel where one made a pattern in the snow like a flower? Or maybe one pressed flowers into the snow to make a snow garden of snow flowers? Curious he said “ What does a snow flower look like? “ Though the word snow in the name implied they wouldn’t likely be finding in weather warm enough for him to be standing in the lake.

With a smirk he said “ Plus it’s fun catching them. “ It wasn’t the speed that kept him trying to catch them as he’d already had the victory of catching a few. It was the fun of doing it. Plus, he wanted to see how different the little baby merepeople were from each other. So far none of them had hair on their heads like the pictures he saw in books.

He looked up at Victoria in shock as she splashed him with water. The splash would certainly ruin any chances he had of catching more little creatures. So he just took his already scooped hands in the water and moved them upwards splashing her back.

At the offer of chocolate he said “ Sure. Plus they might be getting used to our legs and just staying away too. “ There were definitely less of the little tadpoles in the water now when he stood still than would come back in the beginning. So he started to walk out of the water and smirked as his feet hit the shore and said “ My toes are so wrinkled they might have become webbed if I stayed in longer. “

"Snow flowers are flowers that can stay open from January to the end of March. I thought maybe they were here too. My father found this flower during a research and took a photo of it. I still have that photo hanging in my room."

She remembered when she was little, when her father came home and showed that photo and told the story, she was very happy and fascinated.

They came under the tree where the boy and her bag were. Both of them had difficulty coming because their feet were numb. She leaned into her bag under the tree and pulled out two chocolate frogs and gave one to Cornelius.

He tried to think of the plants he saw during the winter. He couldn’t remember any that were open that long. Though at the same time there were so many things in the castle that if he passed the same plant multiple times weeks apart he’d of thought it just bloomed each time. So he had nothing he could point out as a lead from his winter adventures.

He smiled as she mentioned if he stayed in longer he might have been able to breathe in the water. He said “ Wait so do you mean the lake is some sort of potion? “ Blinking he doubted it was the case, but that would be neat. Though he also didn’t know any students trying it so there had to be a catch - a catch he’d probably not like.

He joined Victoria on the shore and took a seat next to her accepting a chocolate frog.

With a smile he said “ Thanks. “ Then he looked at it and debated how he’d open it so it didn’t ho away. Looking at the box he slowly opened one side towards himself so the frog couldn’t hop out. Then he put his hand over the opening as he opened it further.

Which resulted in the frog hoping at his hand and falling back in the box.

With a smile he said “ The best part of these is figuring out new ways to not let them escape. You got any tricks? “ Though they typically only had one hop anyways. Then he reached in and broke off a leg eating it.

"I don't know, maybe there is. We're in the wizarding world so I'm starting to believe that nothing is impossible anymore. Maybe one day we will make this potion and explore the sea."

She watched as Cornelius sat down next to her. When she caught the frog, Tori opened her own box slightly and quickly took the chocolate frog.

"The slower I open it, the more I like to act faster, this way you can predict where it will come from. But other than that, I also have my own trick. Do you want to see it?"

She closed her eyes, bit a piece of the chocolate frog, and while the chocolate was in her mouth, it turned her hair brown, the color of the chocolate frog. She opened his eyes and looked at Cornellius.

"I don't know if what I did will count as a trick. I think I liked this hair more than the blonde hair."

She put the other side of the chocolate into her mouth. She leaned against the tree. "So tell me a little about your family. What do they do?" She asked with some curiosity.
