Sarah was STARVING!! It was dinner at Hogwarts in late October. The Great Hall was full of chatter from all the students, and clanking silverware from all the eating. Sarah had not eaten all day. She had an exam in Defense Against the Dark Arts that day which left her to nervous to eat anything. But since she just finished the exam, she was ready to eat a big meal for dinner!
When Sarah entered the Great Hall she was met with the scent of all the food. She could smell chicken, and all the spices, and so much more. Sarah grabbed a plate and looked around the Great Hall for a place to sit. There were four huge long tables for each of the houses; Slytherin, Gryffindor, Ravenclaw, and Hufflepuff. And since Sarah was sorted into Hufflepuff, she had to take a seat at the Hufflepuff table. She stood at the head of the table with her empty plate looking down the huge table. Right then, she was met with problem:
Where should I sit?
Sarah looked around the whole table. It seemed like everyone had someone to sit with. Towards the center of the table there was a group of about seven girls who seemed to be having a very interesting conversation. A little farther down the table though, Sarah noticed another girl who was sitting all by herself.
She is a first year I think... I think that girl is in my Flying class. What's her name...?
Sarah walked over to the girl on the other end of the huge table.
Hey! Your name is Matilde right? My name is Sarah. I think we have flying class together. Can I sit here?

Matilde hadn’t managed to make many friends in her own house. At least, no one she would feel comfortable sitting with for dinner. That was okay, she wasn’t too worried. There was time, it was only the beginning of October, after all.
The friendly Hufflepuff might usually have asked to sit with someone, but tonight she was feeling rather exhausted from the long day. After loading up her plate, she found an empty spot near the end of the table.
She hadn’t been sitting there long when another girl came up to her. Matilde smiled at her as she introduced herself. “Oh yes, of course,” she said, making a place for the girl, Sarah, next to her. “I believe we do have flying class together! If I might ask, how do you like it so far? I myself am enjoying it very much. Flying is so exhilarating! I heard there is going to be a broom racing match very soon, I am so excited. Have you ever seen a broom race? I haven’t. I have been to a few quidditch matches though.” Matilde abruptly stopped talking, realizing she was beginning to blab. “Sorry,” she said sheepishly. “Sometimes I talk a wee bit too much.”

Oh yes, of course.
Sarah was relieved. She finally had someone to sit with. She moved to the other side of the table, so she could sit opposite of Matilde. Then, Sarah's stomach growled reminding her of how hungry she was! She scooped a plate full of mashed potatoes and chicken onto her plate and began eating.
While she was eating, Matilde began asking all about flying class, and what Sarah enjoyed about it since they were in the same class. She also began talking about Quidditch and Broom racing. Although Sarah didn't mean to be rude, she almost tuned Matilde out because of how hungry she was. But Sarah got the main idea of what she was saying. Sarah zoned back in when she heard Matilde stop talking and say-
Sometimes I talk a wee bit too much.
Sarah stopped stuffing her face with food and looked up at Matilde with a smile.
Hah! I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks she talks to much. It's totally alright though, talk as much as you want. Seriously.
Sarah shot Matilde a re-assuring smile and took a big bite of mashed potatoes. She swallowed and continued speaking.
I love flying class. I've never done a broom race, but I do love Quidditch! In fact, I just joined the Hufflepuff Quidditch team!

“I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks she talks too much,” Sarah said then, assuring Matilde that she wasn’t being too chatty. Matilde smiled gratefully.
She listened as Sarah talked about her own experience with flying. “Wow, that is grand!” Matilde said about Sarah joining the quidditch team. Though Matilde didn't mind watching quidditch, it wasn't really her favorite activity. At least it was better than muggle sports- there was flying involved after all! She had a feeling it would be a lot more fun now that she had someone she knew on the team to cheer on.
“I was thinking about joining broom racing… I’m still deciding though." Matilde didn't mention that she was a little nervous about the sport. It was supposed to be really hard, and kind of dangerous. She would need to practice so much. "I'm trying to save up to buy a broom of my own! Maybe a nimbus 1000. Do you have one? A broom of your own, I mean?"
Matilde took a few bites of her own food before turning back to Sarah. “What other classes do you like? Right now I think my favorites are charms and transfiguration, well, besides flying."
