It was a rare occasion when Sorrel Wright found herself in the Castle, and it was rarer still to see the woman angry, but today, both of those things were happening simultaneously. Sorrel had planned a visit the castle to visit the Ravenclaw common room to talk to some of the children that, even if she would deny it, Sorrel found herself growing fond of.

She had never considered just why she hated children so much, besides for the fear of them and their bullying, which had haunted Sorrel as a child. Even if she disliked them, Sorrel would never want to see a child hurt. In fact, she would never want to see a human being hurt, much less a plant sapling. Sorrel had even taken special care to dress in a blue dress, considerably a brighter than the ravenclaw blue, but still blue. The simple gestures mattered the most to the woman, who never would of left her greenhouse, even at the start of the year, when she really should of came out of her shell, and attempted to make friends. Just a year ago, Sorrel was content living with plants and a green bird for company, and had never thought that she would get attached to anything, much less a bunch of children.

Not after Estela. Even years later, Sorrel had shut down human contact, shying away from humans like the pathetic person she was. She wouldn't trust them again, she had vowed, but somehow, Sorrel had gotten attached to the inhabitants of Hogwarts, after a year of teaching, and living in the Scottish Castle.

It was no shock she had been upset when the gossiping of the ravenclaw commom room reached her ears. Another one of Lear's adventures had gone wrong, leaving children from two houses hurt. The first adventure had been before Sorrel had signed on as herbology professor, but she had heard tell of the fiery inferno of a camp out, and had seen the burnt foliage from her green house. She had tended to the burnt plants and trees for months on end, attempting to restore life to their green leaves and colorful flowers. There were no plants to tend to this time, rather hurt children. Traumatized children who hadn't deserved anything horrible coming to them. They were just children with lives to live, but how would they live them when they were traumatized by events organized by professors? By the people that were supposed to be watching out for them? Sorrel had never wanted to be a professor, but in that moment, she had felt repulsive.

It had taken less than a minute to storm out of the Ravenclaw common room, and after that, Sorrel had lost track of time. She was attempting to find her way down to the rooms of the two professors that had started the event, but found herself hopelessly lost. There were no children in the hallways when Sorrel let out a loud curse in Portuguese, anger finally bubbling to the surface.

She was never angry, and the sight of an angry Sorrel was scary, even to Sorrel herself. Thanking her lucky stars that nobody was around, Sorrel continued her fervent search, unaware of the fact she stood outside the History of Magic Classroom.

THE day had been pleasant. Students had arrived, their young minds filled with knowledge in a fun and exciting way, and there had been barely any sleeping heads in class. In fact, the number of snoozing students had lowered considerably, which was great for a Professor teaching history. The worst thing that could happen was speaking about the institution of the Ministry of Magics laws, and suddenly hear snoring - it certainly took away from the seriousness of the topic, but to be fair did bring some laughter, which Alpheus didn't mind at all.

If I could make every lesson as fun as possible, I would, The man thought to himself, as he walked along with a stack of books in arm. Alpheus was mid putting them back on the shelves, feeling the kids had earned an early minute. Sometimes though, it's not really possible...

"Ugh, next lesson is about Centaur law, and that's always a drag," Alpheus groaned, slipping more books away, making sure they were in the correct spaces. "Someone always asks if reverse-Centaurs are a thing... such a creepy thought."

Still, despite being new, Alpheus felt things were going well. Most of the students had accepted him with eager smiles and willingness to learn, and that in turn had pushed the Professor to want to do more and find interesting ways to convey lessons. At the moment, Alpheus was considering inviting an actual representative of the Centaurs to attend the class, and to explain some of the intricacies of the culture, laws and answer whatever questions the students had... so long as it didn't involve unrealistic mentions of the dreaded reverse variety, which would surely insult the Centaur. So perhaps, in order to avoid having to protect an overeager student looking for a laugh, getting an actual member of the species to visit wasn't the greatest idea...

"Maybe I'll see Vi about swiping a charm spell from her syllabus--"

Alpheus stopped, eyebrow raised, as an unfamiliar lady stormed past the doorway... and blinked as she let loose a curse in a language he didn't know, but could clearly tell wasn't a compliment or pleasant mention about the day. In fact, everything about her, from the brief glimpse, indicated things were decidedly not great or ideal, and for a moment Alpheus considered leaving it be. But, wanting to be supportive, and to ensure it wasn't some random adult stalking the halls, he figured some response was required.

"--ooookay?" He said, before putting the books on a desk and moving out into the hallway. He saw the lady standing there, in a blue dress, clearly mad. "Sorry, but... are you lost?"

The words spoken hardly registered, as Sorrel's hands clung to the sides of her skirts, the woman quickly flustered by the fact that someone had heard her cussing. By the sound of it, a new professor or an adult visiting the school had found the disgraced buffoon of a herbology teacher wandering around, and guessed she was lost. Was she really that obvious? Of course she was. Sorrel should've learned her way around the castle, but alas, the herbology professor preferred greenhouses to humans, a fact that was evidently not playing in her favor. Not at the moment, when she had been spotted cursing in front of a stranger.

Turning to face whoever the man was, in a flourish of skirts and flower scented perfume, Sorrel looked taken aback for a moment, staring at the figure of a man clad in an outfit that was even more eccentric than hers. How rare to see someone else wearing an outfit that wasn't dull and black at Hogawarts! These British wizards knew nothing about what fashion entailed, and lived in a perpetual middle age fashion era. Yet, it appeared one person in the castle had fashion sense, while strange. It was better than black robes and black shirts, which was all that the other staff of Hogwarts seemed to own. It was a little out of place to see a man in a cloak, but who was Sorrel to judge? She was often out of place, with her colorful outfits and yellow painted nails.

Sorrel allowed herself a moment to study the man's strange dress wear before she snapped back to reality with a grimace at her own foolishness. Sorrel's face heated, enough to burn her skin, as she shoved her hands into twin pockets on the sides of her dress, swaying back and forth on the balls of her feet like a chastised child denying they had done wrong.

""Oh--me? Well, um, yes," Oh gosh. This wasn't going well. Sorrel let out a sigh, flustered chuckle loosing itself from her body, as the pent up emotions spilled out like droplets of water. "I'm sorry, yes I'm lost. I just.. everything is horrible, you know? Children are getting hurt left and right, and I came here to search for Lear and Cazarez- -of course he did something wrong, why am I not surprised, but I can't find anyth- oh dear, I've spoken too much, haven't I?"

Yes, she had overspoken. Expected, for someone who hardly talked to other humans, if Sorrel was being honest. Even if overspeaking was natural for such an introvert, it didn't make the situation less mortifying. Sorrel's hands moved up to clutch at her mouth, a comical gesture, if not for the grimace on the woman's face, as her skin heated up, even more. Had she really just spilled so much to an absolute stranger? What was going on? This poor man just think her crazy. Wonderful first impression with whoever he was. Could she run away without being rude? Apparently not.

Sorrel stopped swaying on her feet, looking like a deer caught in headlights instead of a competent professor.

ALPHEUS smiled, trying to appear as approachable and nonthreatening as possible. The last thing he wanted was to scare the young woman more than intended, causing her to run off and get even more lost. For a moment, Alpheus wondered how young she actually was, given her mannerisms and the rocking back and forth motion...

"Hey, it's okay, it happens to all of us at some point," Alpheus said, grinning before offering a friendly shrug, listening to the young woman speak rapidly. Some of the words she said caused a lot of concern. "I mean, I get lost a lot, and I've been around Hogwarts for most of my life... so I have no excuse. It's okay, really."

With a little affirmation, hopefully enough to help the mysterious lady calm down some, Alpheus wondered at the possibility of being face-to-face with someone related to the masked person. As far as the Professor could tell, there wasn't any gloves present on the stranger, but that didn't mean much when it came to magic. It would be best to identify the young lady as soon as possible, before circling around to her earlier comment about children being hurt, and Lear and someone else... but the fact she spoke of other Professors in familiar terms put Alpheus at some ease.

"I'm Professor Alpheus, by the way," The man said as he offered his hand, head slightly inclined. "And you are...?"

Following the young woman's response, Alpheus spoke again, as he put both hands onto his hips. There seemed to be an increasing dread growing over the seeming danger of Hogwarts, especially when it came to masked people, injured students, and Professors losing control of situations... if it wasn't for the fact that magic and accidents were closely related, it would be downright suspect. Still, the seemingly endless reports of issues was becoming far too long for Alpheus' liking, and something had to be done about it!

"So could you explain what you said before? About the children being hurt, and Lear and Car... Carzazaz? Was it the masked person I've heard about, or something else this time?"

Alpheus raised his eyebrows, his concern clearly evident...

This was going from bad to worse by the minute. If only Sorrel wasn't She was a fool, honestly. Sorrel hadn't considered just how lost she would get, but it was clear that she was dreadfully lost. So lost that a strange man with a cloak and hair that was almost as long as her's was attempting to comfort her. The strangeness only added to Sorrel's distress, and her flustered swaying started back up again, less noticeable, but still there.

The demure smile on his face was enough to calm Sorrel down, and to remind her to take a breath. "God, I haven't been here since I was 13 years old. It's just as hectic as I remember it, even if the people have gotten nicer, I suppose." Sorrel muttered her words, as per usual, studying the classroom behind the man. Was he the new History of Magic teacher, or just a visitor? Sorrel supposed it would be important to know who the man was, considering she had just blurted out the idle gossip of children to him. Even though the gossip was idle, Sorrel considered it important, and had learned not to doubt the power of Professor Lear's very un-hufflepuff like behavior.

Sorrel knew it was coming, but frowned anyways, as he offered his hand. What was with the new professors of the school and handshaking? It was so weird to touch another human's hand and it reminded Sorrel of holding hands with Estela, but she choked down that familiar thought at the familiar sensation, shaking Alpheus's hand, lightly. She did not have a strong grip, and the handshake was over as soon as it had begun, partly due to the way Sorrel recoiled like a skittish doe.

"Sorrel Wright, I teach herbology." Sorrel responded in turn, managing a faint smile. Then he asked about the well being of the students, evident concern on his face, and Sorrel's faint smile turned into a real smile. Finally someone who cared about the students.

"Well, I'm sure you know about Lear's adventures. The hufflepuff camp out is near famous at this point. A few nights ago, there was another adventure with the Gryffindors and Hufflepuffs. My students were talking about it in the Ravenclaw common room this morning, worrying about their friends. Apparently a few of the children were gravely wounded, with holes in their feets, bleeding hands, and other ailments. There was also talk of a dragon, but I can't pick apart the fact from the overwhelming fiction that some younger children like to invent. Nonetheless, it's concerning."

Sorrel paused, sighing, before adding one last thing to her speech. "Just as concering as the masked figure going around targeting children! How will we do anything as professors when we can't even deal with a man in a mask?"
