Sage was glad to be done with that day’s classes. She’d been free of homework for a majority of the day, but now she was left with Transfiguration homework due the next day she’d yet to complete. The homework was fairly easy, but still Sage dragged her feet down to the Transfiguration room to complete it in peace. She wasn’t looking forward to studying, and that was clear on her face.
Sage took her textbooks under her arm and walked as slowly as possible to the classroom, taking time to appreciate the rather empty corridors. As she walked, Sage gave herself a gentle reminder to write to Cassie and Kora. She was long overdue to correspond with them.
When Sage got to the door, she paused and stayed outside just for a moment. Sage was fond of silence, more than a regular twelve-year-old would normally be. Sage didn’t have many friends- in fact, hardly any. While she loved solitude and quiet, she secretly longed for something to make her feel like she fit in.
Sage brushed off her troubling emotions and started into the room. She gripped her textbooks tightly and found a seat in the back of the room. All she had to do was get that homework done, then she was free for the rest of the day.
Sage settled in her seat and took a quill out of a bag she brought with her to begin. Homework was a usually simple thing, but if anything would interrupt or prove to be more important, Sage was yet to see.

Thoughts: italicsKaitlyn skipped down the corridor, her bag hitting her hip as she moved. She was carrying her Transfiguration book, and of course, plenty of parchment for notes. Her destination was the Transfiguration classroom. She was struggling recently. Well, in general, for the school year so far. But, specifically for right now. Casting spells were not her forte. She didn’t know if it was her. But, it seemed to take her longer to learn a spell than her classmates. At least, that was how she felt. ‘It’s so embarrassing when I see myself fail repeatedly. Yet, I look around my other classmates, and their spells cast perfectly … why am I such a failure? I went from a top student in muggle school to below average here. How is that possible?’
Opening the door to the Transfiguration classroom, the shy Slytherin saw a girl in there. ‘I think we share some classes together? I don’t really want an audience if I fail again with casting this transfiguration … but I guess one person observing my inability to cast a spell is not the worst?’ As she made her way to a corner of the room, she passed by where the girl was sitting. “Hi,” she greeted her shyly and quickly made her way to the corner of the room.
Kaitlyn took one of the whistles they used to practice the whistle to watch transformation. ‘I don’t think it’d hurt to practice first,’ she sighed. She slipped her wand out of her pocket and pointed it at the whistle. “Tunc Sibilus,” she cast, copying the wand movement. In the blink of an eye, the whistle turned into a watch. With baited anticipation, her fingertips grazed the surface of the watch. It let of a shrill whistle, and she sighed dejectedly. “Why me?” She moaned quietly.Reducio

Matilde was feeling one thousand times better today than she had the first day of school. October was a great month in her opinion. She felt like she was finally getting into the swing of things. Classes were hard, but to her delight, magic seemed to be coming fairly natural to her.
But Matilde knew that just because she was doing well didn’t mean she didn’t have to study. The assignment from today’s transfiguration lesson had been particularly difficult, and she could definitely use some practice.
Pushing open the door to Transfiguration, she found she wasn’t alone in her quest to do some studying before next class. She spotted aother Hufflepuff girl whom she’d seem around but didn’t know, and one familiar Slytherin. Without hesitation, she made her way over to Katie where she was sitting in the corner of the room. “Hey Katie! Mind if I sit?” she said, gesturing to the chair beside her friend. Were they friends yet? Matilde didn’t know. Better to assume they were and not worry about it, she decided.
Matilde suddenly realized she’d spoken a bit too loudly for a working space. She was still getting used to the ways of the classroom after being homeschooled for her whole life. “Sorry,” she said, turning to the other Hufflepuff student. Matilde blushed, genuinely embarrassed. The girl surely thought she was so rude.

ooc note:
Sage heard the door creak, and instantly looked up to see who had entered. Friend, or foe. Sage was used to being by herself, but not in a bad way. No, she thought of solitude as something peaceful, enjoyable. Everyone could find something meaningful in silence if they looked hard enough.
The first to enter the classroom was a young Slytherin girl who Sage estimated to be a first year judging off of height and appearance. The Slytherin offered her a quick greeting and Sage watched her dart off.
Sage said nothing to the girl but rather tried to focus on the work in front of her with little luck. The transfiguration homework would pile up if she failed to complete it, but she simply didn’t just want to sit there and try to clear her boredom.
Sage fiddled with her quill, passing it from one hand to the other. A splotch of ink dripped down on her paper in the process. She sighed, trying to wipe it off with no luck, the ink now stained on her hand.
The door opened again, this time another girl, a Hufflepuff, walking in. Sage guessed she was a first year as well. Sage kept her head ducked over her work as she heard the new girl race over to the Slytherin.
Sage peeked up- just for a second- to see the other Hufflepuff greeting her. “Oh,” Sage said, surprised this girl was paying her any mind. “Hi. I’m Sage.”

Matilde grinned at the girl, relieved when she clearly wasn’t annoyed with her. Maybe she hadn’t spoken as loud as she had thought. “Hi Sage, I’m Matilde,” she said a little shyly. “I love your name. I absolutely adore the color sage.”
Matilde set down her bag on the table and slowly began to take out her supplies. A whistle, her homework, a few good sheets of parchment, a boring black inkwell, and her favorite quill. She pulled out another well full of much more interesting ink. She looked at it longingly, then replaced it in her bag. Unfortunately, her transfiguration profesor would probably not appreciate her homework being written in purple ink. She took her wand from her pocket, and aimed it at the whistle. “Tunc Sibilus,” she said quietly. Sure enough, whistle shifted before her eyes. She accessed her work. It definitely looked like a watch… but the color was a little off. Certainly more like that of the whistles they were practicing with than what it was supposed to be.
Matilde glanced at Katie. She seemed very discouraged with her spell. It looked like a watch, but Matilde thought she had heard it whistle. They were going to need all the help they could get. Plus, Sage seemed nice. She looked back up her fellow Hufflepuff, then offered, “Hey, um, do you want to work with us?”

ooc note: feel free to do another reply, or message me if you want the thread closed! The Hufflepuff was nice. In her year, named Matilde. She wasn't quite sure about the Slytherin yet. But Matilde had called her 'Katie' when she entered, so Sage guessed that it was her name.
"Oh, thanks! I've always assumed my mom chose it after the spice since that was what she nicknamed me, Spice. Nice to meet you!"
She watched Matilde pull up her homework. Not wanting to have to shout across the room to talk to the girls, she picked up her stuff and crossed the room to join them. "Sorry, is it alright if I stand here, too?" She motioned at the desks.
She glanced down at the assignment. God, Transfiguration was difficult. And to think she was supposed to be good at it as a Metamorphis! She hated those stereotypes.
"So... do either of you understand the work? Because I surely don't." She laughed off her misunderstanding of the work. The ink on her hand was really annoying her.
If the rest of the work was going to be like this, impossible for Sage to understand, how on earth could she pass Transfiguration?
"Geez, I mean even for a metamorphis this stuff is impossible!" Sage sighed. "Hey, I need to head out, but it was wonderful meeting you two! We'll have to meet up again at some point, yeah?"
She waved over her shoulder as she collected her stuff and left.Sage has left the thread.
