ROLEPLAYING AS JULIETTE AURAND FROM BEAUXBATONS

__________________________________________

Charlotte Aurand simply adored balls. She hosted them on occasion and invited all of the wealthiest pureblood families in France to attend, reveling in the luxury. She loved an excuse to dress in ostentatious gowns and throw diamonds and expensive wine like confetti. Charlotte was a very rich woman, and she liked to let everyone know it. Her daughter, Juliette, had come to accept that her mother was anything but subtle.

Juliette wasn't particularly looking forward to the party her mother was throwing for herself one bright summer eve. She was more reserved and serious than the fun-loving Madam Aurand, but she knew better than to complain. Juliette was to be the best at everything. Her ambition was astronomical, and if she wanted to be the most successful and admired lady in France, which she did, she would have to stomach a few balls.

"It will be wonderful, ma chérie," Charlotte had told her the morning of the event as Juliette stood out on her balcony, hair tossed by the ocean breeze. The Aurand Estate was a beautiful manor, white with coral shutters and scalloped edging. The water was practically in their backyard, and seashells were the dominant decoration in the richly embellished home. "You could make friends, oui? And all the pureblood families will think you very lovely." Charlotte's eyes glittered, and Juliette held in a sigh. Perfect ladies didn't sigh.

Now she stood in front of the gold-framed mirror in her spacious bedroom, looking at herself in the dress that her mother had chosen for her. It was pink, not her favorite color, but it was pale enough to be pretty. The neckline dipped in the center, and the sleeves dropped elegantly over her arms, leaving her shoulders bare. The skirt was long and embroidered with flowers so that when she moved, it seemed as if petals were floating through the fabric. In fact, Juliette suspected that her mother, a very accomplished witch, had enchanted it to appear that way. Her blonde hair was pinned back into a half-up style with a diamond-studded butterfly, and her feet were encased in white high heels.

She walked down the stairs soon before the guests were due to arrive. Her father, Paul Aurand, planted a kiss on her head and her mother swept around in a violet gown, making sure everything was immaculate for when the invitees began to arrive. Candles floated around the ceiling of the ballroom, the artwork had all been dusted, and the floor was cleared. A live orchestra was preparing in the corner, and tables were set out to be filled with food when it was time for dinner. Juliette settled her face into her signature icy, regal expression, casting gray eyes to the door, repeating her mantra in her head- Be brave. Be cold. Be perfect. It was the only way she had ever known to think. The same words repeated in her head as she stood with her parents to receive their guests.

Soon to meet Juliette Aurand @Willow Byrne
The boy studied his reflection in the mirror. Tall, dark, handsome, with lovely cheekbones. At least that's what he was constantly being told. He gave a little sigh, adjusting his dark green suit coat. Why his parents forced him to come to all these balls, he would never know. The Beaumonts were a wealthy and noble pure-blooded family, and were invited to all the events around. They always insisted on dragging their son along with them. The boy left the room and descended the grand staircase to the entrance hall, where his parents where waiting for him. "There you are, Adrien, mon cheri my dear!" Lady Beaumont cooed as she beckoned to her only son. "Come along, now, we shall be late if we do not hurry!"

Adrien managed to keep his face neutral as he got into the carriage after his mother. Lord Beaumont entered last. He wasn't even sure why they were attending a ball this evening, or what the ball was for. He remembered it was being thrown by the Aurands. Then it was probably just for the family to show off their wealth and have a grand time. He knew that Lady Aurand would jump at any excuse to host a ball. He hadn't yet been to the Aurand Estate, but others had told him of it's grand luxury and wealth. He sighed again as they bumped along in the carriage.

Finally, after a while, they had arrived. Adrien followed his parents out of the carriage and to the grand entrance of the Estate. Woah. He thought as he looked at the rich architecture and the beautiful shore themed decor. As the doors opened, Adrien stepped inside the Estate. It really was quite magnificent, but Adrien couldn't look around with his mouth open as that would have been rude. He forced himself not to stare at the lavishness all around him. There were already people here, all dressed in their finest. He stood next to his parents as they neared the hosting family to greet them. As he got closer, he inconspicuously studied the Aurands. They looked elegant, and proper, much like his own parents. Adrien stifled a sigh. Suddenly, his eyes fell upon the girl standing next to the Lord and Lady of the Estate. The first thing he noticed were her eyes, icy grey and regal. He blinked his own chocolate coloured eyes as he moved ever closer. Soon it would be their turn to be greeted.

ROLEPLAYING AS JULIETTE AURAND FROM BEAUXBATONS

Juliette smiled the required amount, curtsied when it was due, and extended her hand to be kissed at the proper times. The high-society etiquette had been ingrained in her head, even in her young age, and she was the picture-perfect vision of elegance as the family greeted their guests. Absolutely no slips or rudeness was allowed. She needed to give a good first impression to everyone who was attending the ball.

There was, however, one family that caught her eye for a simple reason- they had a son. It wasn't unheard of for a child to attend one of the Aurand Balls, but usually, they were older than she or had a distinct resemblance in personality to a goldfish. This boy, however, was her age; eleven or so, she would guess. Perhaps he would be attending Beauxbatons that year as well.

Something about him reminded Juliette a little of herself. Not necessarily in looks, though he did share her high, sharp cheekbones. No, it was the way he seemed to know the way one should act around the wealthy, just as she did, but he also seemed like he didn't particularly want to be there. She was pretty good at reading people, and she was pretty sure she was correct in her assumptions. And Juliette could relate, for pleasantries and extreme panache weren't really her thing.

As the family stepped up, Juliette's parents greeted the invitees. However, Juliette's eyes snagged on the boy and she raised her eyebrow ever so slightly, showing that she wasn't thrilled to be here either. Juliette had never had a friend before- other than the bugs that she played with outside when she was small- and, well, her mother had told her that she should try to make friends. It certainly wasn't her strong suit, having trained herself to be so icy, but, well... she was a kid. Maybe she should try to act more like one.

"Bonjour," She whispered in her sweet French accent, under the cover of Lady Aurand's carrying voice as she welcomed the boy's family. "I'm Juliette."
