OOC NOTES: I should point out very quickly that this used to be a part of a continuous thread and that I was not originally the creator of this thread. The original poster was Alaina Davis. After it was found out she was using AI in her posts, they were deleted. As such, this had to be rewritten slightly, but it's still open for anyone who wishes to reply!
Emily had a restless night the night before and was getting frustrated over the fact that she sat in the Hufflepuff Common Room doing absolutely nothing about it. A nightmare was something she could shake off more easily nowadays, but when the dream was... sad... it was a little harder. Glancing at her alarm clock she could see that it was 5.30am. Technically morning, right?
She got dressed into her uniform, deciding not to tie her brown hair back for now (though still packing her pink ribbon for later), and packed a small bag with a couple of books she had borrowed from the library. Now that the sun would be up soon and with a few hours to spare before class, she decided she'd do a little leisurely studying before the day would properly start.
Descending out into the courtyard the cold air hit her like it was biting her, with a slight foggy haze out along the ground. Her footsteps, while usually quiet with how she walked, echoed along the cobblestones and crunched with the still leaves that laid across the ground without much movement. It was like walking across a graveyard. Emily liked a bit of peace and quiet, but this felt all far too familiar, almost painfully repetitive, to be going through.
She reached the fountain and sat down, sitting up a little to feel the air envelope her. Already her mood was starting to lift a little, the cloudy sky brightening up as the last of the night was chased away by the incoming dawn. It wasn't long before a veil of sunlight stretched over the horizon, blanketing Emily with a tepid warmth as she sat gracefully at the edge of the fountain.
Between how bright and how dangerous it would be to look directly at the sun, Emily squinted as she saw the sun rise slowly but surely, gracing Hogwarts with its morning presence. She smiled, feeling honoured to witness such beauty. To see the worlds of day and night change like this made her think about the other small pleasures she was missing without realising it.
As the day brightened, she felt herself become much more calm and relaxed. The sad dream that she was weeping over seemed like a distant memory now, and Emily was relieved to move past it. At least she knew that if it ever came back, she'd know where to go where she can take her mind off things in the future...

Early Morning
Ehsi was feeling more energetic than usual, she couldn't sleep. This was far from the norm as usually as soon as her head hit the pillows she would be out like a light. The time was about 5:35 in the morning. Unfortunately sleep was not coming to her. Maybe it was her being homesick? Though it still didn't feel right to her. She'd have to Owl her family later.
For now she's decided to go out for an early morning walk.
She changed out of her night gown and into the standard school robes for Slytherin. She's not sure what compelled her to go outside so early in the morning. She was not acting normal today. Ehsi exited the dormitories, and walked along Hogwarts' many corridors and had ended up in the courtyard.
Looking around she noticed a girl sitting at the fountain. The sun was shining on her face, as she was reading a book. Now here's the thing... typically, books bring joy right? Well maybe not textbooks, like the girl at the fountain was reading. Regardless, the girl did look a bit sad. Ehsi had decided to introduce herself and ask the girl what was wrong, if she was ok. Typically, she would never initiate a conservation first.Ehsi was acting out of the norm again but she didn't really mind.
Ehsi walked straight forward to the fountain, where the girl was and introduced herself in the most upbeat way possible..."Hello! My name is Ehsilat! I noticed you were looking a bit sad. Are you alright?"
For now she's decided to go out for an early morning walk.

Emily perked up to see a Slytherin student walking over to her, greeting her with a friendly charm in her voice. She couldn't help but find some irony in the fact that she was meeting many other Slytherin students in her year as opposed to striking up conversations with the people in her own House. At this rate, Emily was probably better off in Slytherin given how things played out. Either that or clearly there was something that Emily was missing when it came to making friends by herself. Nevertheless, having felt better after experiencing such a lovely morning, Emily smiled back waved to her.
"Heh! I'm fine! Feeling great now actually. Just had a rather weird night last night, as all. And it's nice to meet you too...! I'm Emily...!" She offered the girl a small handshake to acknowledge her kind demeanour and presence.
Emily scooted over a bit to allow Ehsilat to sit down with her. As she sat on the edge of the fountain with her, there were a few minutes of silence between them as they both watched the sun continue to rise higher over the horizon. Before long, the entire courtyard was veiled in the morning heat and the temperature in the air increased incredibly. It was enough to make Emily's stale-teared eyes a thing of the past.

"Heh! I'm fine! Feeling great now actually. Just had a rather weird night last night, as all. And it's nice to meet you too...! I'm Emily...!"
Ehsilat had a small smile on her face as the girl introduced herself. The girl, who she now knows by the name Emily, offered her a small handshake and scooted over, allowing Ehsilat to sit. Ehsi shook Emily's hand and sat down.
There were a few minutes of silence between the two girls as the sun covered them in its golden light. Ehsilat's ears perked up as Emily asked her a question "So what brings you here so early in the morning?"
Ehsilat had a pause before answering "I didn't feel sleepy, so I decided to take a walk. I think I might be homesick but I'm still not so sure." she finished her sentence as another beat of silence passed through them. The two girls continued to watch the sun and basked in its light, though it was beginning to hurt her eyes, Ehsilat asked a question of her own "Do you come here often,Emily?"
She could imagine that this was a calming spot to be in, it was even calming her down! It almost made her forget about the strange day she was having, acting unusually from her normal personality. But she still couldn't shake that weird feeling.

Emily smiled and nodded as Ehsilat talked. It seemed to Emily that she was quite the early riser, something that Emily could somewhat relate to. Perhaps not a 6.00am person, but certainly somewhere between the 7.00-7.30 mark.
"I guess it's one of those mornings where we just can't sleep huh..." she said brightly. "But try not to worry too much. It's okay if you're a little homesick. It just means you care a lot as all. I get that feeling too sometimes."
She took another moment to admire the sunrise before continuing, feeling the gentle warmth of the sunshine on her lap. "I'm usually hiding away in the library in all honesty. Although, now that I think about it... it is quite lovely here."
Another peaceful silence fell in the air as the pair sat in the veil of sunlight. Both of them took a deep breath at the same time, something which Emily couldn't help but chuckle at. It really did seem that this morning was shaping up to be a breath of fresh air for the both of them. Not to mention that Emily was starting to feel braver in striking up conversations with others.

Ehsilat was getting sleepy, she'd come out for a walk as she had a bit more energy than usual. She'd asked Emily, if she'd come here often. Silence passed as Ehsi kept slipping in and out of sleep then Emily answered. "I'm usually hiding away in the library in all honesty. Although, now that I think about it... it is quite lovely here."
Ehsi thought about what Emily said "Yeah, it is nice out here"
The sky was perfect, the sun was shining down on them, covering the entirety of the courtyard. It was really relaxing, she was beginning to doze off. Though its been a weird morning for her, at least she'd found a quiet place to spend her mornings before classes and made a new friend in the process. It was about 6:10 a.m, when Ehsi decided to return to her room. She hopped off the fountain where her and Emily had been sitting together. Ehsi turned to face Emily. Visible exhaustion in her eyes. "It was nice to meet you Emily, but I'm gonna return to my dorm now. We can hang out at the library together some time? she suggested.
Ehsilat smiled as she said so and began walking to the corridors "See you later Emily!"
Ehsi walked hurriedly to her dorm before the sleep left her and immediately went to bed. Unfortunately, having to wake up a few hours later for school .

Another beat of comfortable silence washed over Emily and Ehsilat as the warm air flowed through the courtyard. The sun edged higher from the horizon, chasing the last of the dark away as the orange in the clouds spread further across the sky, shrouding the landscape in a soft amber glow. She snuck figured it must be after 6,00am about now with how bright the morning was getting.
Though she was well aware of it now, Emily was still surprised at how such a small thing as watching the sun rise could put her at ease so quickly. And not only that, but she had the chance to encounter a fellow First Year and quickly make a sweet friend. It was if a switch was flipped between yesterday and this very morning. Last week, Emily had come to be comfortable with her own company, but now all of a sudden, she was making acquaintances left and right, if not good friends.
She saw Ehsilat hop off the fountain and stretch, a small yawn escaping her lips. It was nice to meet you, Emily, but I'm gonna return to my dorm now. We can hang out at the library together some time?" She said nicely.
Emily nodded and smiled back. "Of course! You're guaranteed to find me in the library any day of the week. I'll see you soon, and enjoy the rest of your morning...!"
She got off the edge of the fountain and both girls bid farewell to each other. With Ehsilat going one direction, Emily went the other, still plastered with a cheerful expression across her face.
