It was a warm day. Viva walked into the Leaky Cauldron, next to her father. She was brimming with excitement, filled with so many emotions she could hardly stand it. I still can't believe this is all actually real! I'm actually going to Hogwarts! She looked around in amazement at the bar. There were lots of people in it, wearing all sorts of different clothes Viva had never seen. She supposed she would have to wear robes like that at Hogwarts.

Her father, a tall, stern looking man, gestured roughly towards the back. "C'mon," he said gruffly. Viva gulped, and started walking that way. She had never gotten on along terribly well with her father, and hadn't wanted to come with him. Unfortunately, however, he was the only one who knew what to do and where to go to get her school things, as her mother was a muggle. Viva sighed, and began to follow her father towards the back.

Suddenly, he stopped, and Viva skidded to a halt as well. Her father was walking over to another man now, raising his hand in greeting. What in the world? Did Father know some of these strange people? "Hello," he said to the man. "It's been too long." The man answered him back, and soon the two were having a conversation. Viva began to get bored. She just wanted to go get her school things, but didn't dare interupt her father.

She looked to the right, and saw another girl, who looked about her age. The girl had pretty brown hair and freckles across her nose. Viva glanced at her father, worried he would get mad at her. But he was talking still... and Viva really wanted to make a new friend. She bit her lip, then made her decision. She took a few steps forward, walking up to the girl. "Hello," she said softly. "What's your name? My name is Genevieve, but most people call me Viva."

Mia loved to sit in the back of the Leaky cpuldron where she could silently observe all the other witches and wizards. Nobody usually noticed her but today was an exception. As she was looking around the place today she noticed a girl with her father coming to the back of the shop. It seemed like the girl was really interested in the wizarding world just not with her father. The girl's father went over to talk to someone else and after a quick glance back at her father the girl came over and said hello to Mia. "Oh, nice to meet you. My name is Mia. I also like your name, it's uniquie" She smiled and gestured to the open stool at the table next to her. "would you like to sit down? It looks like your father will be over there for a while" She smiled as Viva sat down next to her glancing back at her father over her shoulder. "I like to sit back here and...", She paused thinking for the right words. Watching people sounded creepy, and observing sounds a bit like a scientist. "I like to not exactly watch, but well you get it don't you? you can figure out what other people are like without having to get to know them."

Viva smiled at Mia. "Oh, thank you!" she said when Mia complemented her name. "That's so kind of you," With a hasty glance back at her father to make sure he was still absorbed in his conversation, Viva tentatively sat down next to Mia. "Yes, he'll probably be there for a while," she admitted sadly. "I just want to go get my school supplies! Have you already gotten yours?" She tilted her head with a curious smile as Mia explained what she was doing. "People watching?" Viva asked. "I haven't done that in a while!" A little laugh escaped, and she blinked a few times, turning her head to look around the pub.

"I understand," she said as she looked around at all the many different kinds of people in the Leaky Cauldron. "This is very interesting." The girls sat in a moment of companionable silence, gazing around the pub. "So... are you excited to be going to Hogwarts? It's going to be my first year. I'm very excited!" Viva exclaimed with a big smile, pressing her hands into her lap. She had to speak fairly loudly over the noise of the pub. "I never knew the wizarding world existed until I was eight," she said. "I've lived in the muggle world my whole life."

Mia was glad to have someone to understand. She said sadly that she wanted to get her stuff then asked her if she had her stuff yet. "Well I have most of it, just not anything from Madam Malkins yet.". She smiled at the girl, trying to do her best to cheer her up and then the girl said something that mae Mia's face light up."So... are you excited to be going to Hogwarts? It's going to be my first year. I'm very excited!". Mia looked at her and said "Yes i'm soooo excited in fact it's my first year too!". The girl continued talking a bit then she said something about being rasied in a muggle comunity. "I was born and raised in the muggle comunitys too!". Mia smiled at this, mabye they would have more in common than she thought. She looked at the girl, and she could tell it was her turn to ask the questions. "soo... what house do you want, or think you're going to get?" She paused to tale a breath and an amazing idea poped into her haed. "Would you mind if I come school shopping with you?". She was so exciteed for the awnser, but allso a little nervus.
