Boys Club: Quest of the Bogies!

Monday, 11 March 2024
For once Colin McCoire wasn't actually running through the corridors between classes! He couldn't say the same for Lorcan, his younger brother, though, as the younger lad most likely was dashing from one class to the next! But for Colin, this moment was one of waiting, biding his time. He leaned against the stone wall of the corridor, near one of the suits of armour. Liam waited across the way, on the other side of the crossroads.
Liam shook his head slightly. Colin smirked. His twin wasn't fully on board with this whole Boys Club thing that Colin had gotten involved with. Even Colin wasn't quite sure how he'd gotten roped into it himself! He shrugged. It seemed like the right thing to do at the time, and anyways, it had sounded fun! And now, the fun was about to begin!
Colin sniffed delicately at the air in the corridor. The suit of armour shifted its position, as if knowing what was about to happen. Of course, classes were about to let out! The suits of armour had seen it all for hundreds of years: the still corridors of the castle bursting with sudden life and exuberance and hundred of kids poured out of classrooms and into the long narrow passages! For a brief moment, the entire population of the castle was crammed into them, boisterous shouts and shuffling of feet in every direction!
The Slytherin smiled. The corridors between classes were the perfect place to snatch a kiss with his favourite Ravenclaw girl, or to say something sweet to her before dashing off to his next assigned place. Colin's eyes drifted. He so longed to find Clair and give her a kiss! But the suit of armour interrupted his reverie. Colin found himself seated on the knight's plinth, the cold metal gently kicking off. Liam, across the hall, was trying to stifle his laughter.
And then it happened! The doors of classrooms began to burst open! Students filed or piled out of the rooms. The plan was about to come together! Colin had been dared. Properly dared. It was like being given a Quest by the king. And there was no way any boy could worm out of being dared to do something! Mic. Noah. Luci. Sulli. Even Lorcan and the rest, they had all agreed on a challenge for Colin and had he had accepted.
And now was the time!
Colin checked the corridor he could see. Of all the kids that were filling the corridor, Colin couldn't see her. A girl named Renelle. Colin suddenly panicked! He didn't even know quite what she looked like! He was pretty sure he had met her --- or had he? Ginger Snaps was her friend, and surely she had described the Ravenclaw girl to him? And wasn't Shakestra her cousin? Liam was trying to get Colin's attention. But Colin was still on what Renelle looked like. Finally he reckoned he would just look for a Ravenclown version of Elisa!
A sharp whistle came from across the way!
Liam was making a signal! He'd spotted Colin's quarry!
Renelle Dalton!
Colin's pond scum green eyes darted from side to side as he stepped out into the intersection. He checked quickly for the presence of professors or prefects. He smirked as the Ravenclaw girl stepped closer. He decided to face her directly. There would be no accusations of slippery Slytherins attacking from behind or from some secret hiding place! Not for the first time, Colin wondered if weren't better suited for --- yeugh! --- Gryffindork!
Colin drew his wand quickly, hopefully before his intended target could react. "Mucus ad Nauseam!" he said, intensely but not too loudly. He wasn't going to hide in a corner to fulfill his dare, but neither was he going to draw unnecessary attention!
There was no question of aim! Renelle was only a few paces away! There was no question of wandwork or incantation! The magic flew from Colin's wand and made contact with his target! "Yess!" Colin hissed; take that Girls Club! The Boys Club dare was a resounding success!
