A Furry Fez

Uri had only been to Diagon Alley a couple of times with his parents but it always filled him with wonder. He lived in Liverpool and Diagon Alley was just so different. It had a charm that made it magical to him and he would visit every day if he could. Today had been a special visit though, today he'd been getting his supplies for his first year at Hogwarts. He'd been looking forward to going ever since his parents had told him about the school. The first thing he'd done was to get his wand, which he'd been very excited about. It had taken about five minutes and he'd left with a blackthorn and unicorn hair wand. They'd gotten his books, robes, and his supplies for school. Now he was off to the Magic Menagerie to pick up some food for his rabbit.

He had never really thought of having a pet before, his mother was allergic to both cats and dogs, to the point where she'd had to visit the hospital wing once when she was at Hogwarts for a reaction she was having. He'd really gotten a rabbit by total chance. A month ago Uri had been in the garden when he noticed a tatty old fez lying next to the bushes. He'd never seen it before and was unsure of where it had come from, he figured the wind had blown it into the yard or something. He'd been on the verge of walking over and putting it in the bin when suddenly, it twitched. He walked over to the fez, which was on its side, and picked it up. He just happened to grab it so that it was upside down in his hand. It felt weird like it was heavier than it should be. He supposed it had collected some other bit of rubbish inside. He absent-mindedly reached in as he looked up at the setting sun and felt something warm and furry. He looked inside and much to his surprise saw a pure white rabbit with blue eyes that matched the Everton kit he happened to be wearing at the time. It was odd, it looked like the hat was far too small for the rabbit but it looked comfortable. He reached down and scratched it on the head and heard the rabbit purr happily. He was instantly in love. "I'm going to name you Seamus," he said happily as he looked down at the rabbit. It had taken some convincing but his parents decided to let him keep the rabbit as, happily, his mother had apparently found a pet she wasn't allergic to. He also learned from his father that the rabbit was a Magician's Accomplice and that they made their homes inside hats.

His father had gone to a muggle pet shop the next day to get a crate, food, and bedding for Seamus. Uri had wanted to go to the Menagerie then but they didn't have time and needed the supplies right away. Uri had come to the Menagerie to see what kind of supplies they had available for rabbits. He decided to pick up a carrot-shaped toy and some more pellets and hay. He walked up to the register and paid the cashier before heading back into Diagon Alley.
