The First Train Ride
"Bye mum, bye dad!" The girl said, her trunk and extra luggage expecting motion on her cart. Her parents stood waving with bright smiles as she ran toward the brick wall that was awaiting her entrance. Delphine phased into the barrier, landing on the platform before the Hogwarts Express. "Wow." She spoke under her breath. All around her she saw peers and students, some in everyday clothes but most already in their robes. Delphine walked through the crowd after hoisting her luggage into both hands. She was a bit early but that just leaves emptier compartments and a bit of alone time. Delphine stepped into the train with a grin. She was actually here. Delphine was a student at Hogwarts for merlin's sake. She strode through the happy children in the train hall, glancing through door windows at the people grouped on the red benches of the cabins. "They're already pretty full" she thought. Until a single, lone, compartment caught her eye. Not a single person inhabitanted it. "Thank goodness." Delphine breathed. After setting her trunk in the area above the cabin, she entered the small space. Delphine grinned to herself, but she hoped subtly that she wouldn't have to sit in here alone. She sat on the plump seat and stared at the window, the first horn blew and immediately people stared hurrying toward the train. Delphine stifled a laugh after making eye contact with a disheveled boy who was being ushered by a woman who he greatly resembled. She sat looking around, wondering when the trolley would come, and if she'd be scooting over soon to make room for new guests.
