Closed First Injury at Hogwarts

@Dusana Sabo

It was a wendesday afternoon when a first-year student walked into the hospital wing, which had beds lined with injured students from all different years. her robes were shredded, and she had a few bite marks, some of which were still bleeding. It was her first time in the hospital Wing of the school, so she had no idea what the nurse looked like so she stood there waiting for the nurse to come to her she was still shocked she had gotten attacked by a book since it never happened before. She was holding her arms a little scared about what was going to happen when she was getting treated she was feeling very anxious about what was going to be said. She looked at the other students there and wes feeling by for them since each of them had a different injury, some worse than the other, and it did seem quite busy that day. She was wondering if it was too busy for her to get checked on that day since everyone was rushing around taking care of the other injured students. She kept going through her mind about all that happened when she encountered the book lying on the ground outside.

"First time?" A voice thick with a British accent questioned from afar.
Malin, a girl with fluffy blonde hair, pale skin, and unwavering stormy-blue eyes appeared to be the source.
She was sitting on one of the beds, her left arm lying limply by her side and a large bruise across her right cheek. Her Gryffindor uniform was rumpled with her shirt untucked from her skirt and her tie hanging loosely from her neck.
Malin continued, "Don't worry, the lovely house elves are just tending to another patient. I'm sure they'll be around in a while." She explained, her piercing gaze softening at the girl's anxious expression.
Malin had been on the bed for most of the afternoon. She had fallen down several flights of stairs on her way to Potions which had resulted in several fractured bones in her left arm and various bruises all around.
That one was going to leave a mark, she thought as she re-lived the memory.
Luckily, some kind but clumsy fifth-year had tried to help, but pulled a Lockheart and accidentally vanished all the bones in her left arm. Hence why Malin was sitting here with her pathetically limp arm and very, very bruised and banged up body.

She looked to where the voice was coming from and noticed the girl sitting on one of the nearby who was also injured but hers seeming worse than her own.

yeah It's my first time here. I was outside near the care of magical creatures class and saw a book laying on the ground. I went to pick it up up thinking it was a normal one, but before I knew it, I was being chased by the book. that was a very scary book. I was lucky to be helped by an older student, but I didn't escape without injuries. it looks like you've had a worst incident than me though how it your arm like that, though?

she looked surprised by the sight but also started to feel worried about even having mentioned it since it looked like it could have been very painful for her

I'm sorry, I probably shouldn't have brought it up since it looks extremely painful and must have been a very traumatic experience for you.

she looked down, and she thought it best for her to just keep quiet even though she also wanted to keep talking to try and help you keep your mind off being injured and the long wait.

Malin waved a hand dismissively at the girl's apologies. "It's not as bad as it looks. I physically can't feel my arm because there are no bones in there, and the bruises will mostly only hurt tomorrow." She explained, smiling at the girl.
"I'm Lin, by the way." Malin introduced herself. She was only called Malin by her family. To friends, she was simply Lin.
She had never really gone by Malin. The only people who called her were her immediate and extended family. She found going by Lin proved much easier, as not many people pronounced her name right, and she had always been too shy to correct them.
She looked down at her arm. The rolled-up sleeve of her uniform shirt had started slacking, so she pulled it up, watching as her boneless arm dangled like a dead fish from her shoulder. As amusing as it was to jiggle her arm around like a sack of beans, Malin didn't want to set the nervous girl off, so she set her arm beside herself, instead examining the bruises covering it. Surely there was some kind of potion that would heal the bruises, but Malin, in all honesty, liked to poke at a day-old bruise just to make it hurt. Weird, right?

this place really puzzles me sometimes. how could someone possibly lose all the bones in their arm, and I never knew a book could be so mean, especially a school book. I wonder what other dangers lurk around here.

she looked around at the room

I also never knew of a school that had its very own hospital. I grew up in the muggle world. The schools I went to only had a nurses office, and it was never as big as this. it is pretty fascinating, but I definitely don't want to spend anymore time in here, then I really have to. everyone here looks like they've had such a painful accident happen to them, but I guess it is a part of magic.

she continued to stand there and wait for her turn with the nurse

I have no idea what I'm supposed to do about my robes since they are shredded from that book. sometimes, I wish I wasn't a first year, then I'd be able to understand this place a bit more and what I'm supposed to do in certain situations instead of just being injured. I'm glad I haven't fallen off my broomstick yet that would surely be very painful.

"Actually," Malin begins comically, "It doesn't hurt as much as it's hyped up to be." She says, remembering her first flying lesson in which she had fallen off immediately, "Only a little bruising, but even though magic causes so many injuries, it also heals a ton more."

She smiles at the girl kindly, hoping to ease the girl's nerves. "C'mon, the magic really isn't that bad," She began to try to convince the poor girl, "Sure, we get our fair share of bumps, bruises, and carnivorous books, but it's all so worth it in the end."
She continues, "Without magic, we wouldn't be able to fly on brooms, enchant objects, turn goblets into birds, and birds into goblets." Her smile softens, "If you choose to look on the bright side, the impolite books and slippery stairs really don't seem all too bad."

Malin had always been an optimist. One would have to be pretty optimistic if one got injured by accident the amount of times she had. What mattered most to Malin was the bright side. Maybe she fell down several flights of stairs and lost all the bones in her arm, but she never would have if she never went to Hogwarts, and wasn't Hogwarts so much better than a few misplaced bones?

"Where... Am... I..." Andy thought about that injury at flying class. His robes are teared apart and his suit is covered in bouncing bulb leaves. He fell off his broom and his knee was bleeding like a river of death. "Make the pain.. Stop..." Said Andy as he looked at his ripped up pants. He saw his wand at a table next to him and his friend, Danielle Alden. "I took you to the hospital wing. I saw you fall. Hope you will be okay." Danielle walked away, leaving Andy on a bed next to other groaning students. Half of them are sport players. Andy took a potion that was on a table next to him and drank it. It didn't help a lot. Laying as the clock ticked and tocked was boring and Andy wanted to go to a class or have lunch with his friends. Andy gave a tear. He looked at his ripped robes and all of his clothes as he took another sip of the potion. It didn't help. Next to Andy was a cart full of choclate frogs and peppermint toads. Andy took a peppermint toad, his favorite candy, Andy stuffed it into his mouth. He needed a few days to recover. "I hate karma." Said Andy as he flew off his bed. Andy sighed and went on the bed again to sleep.

after noticing another injured student arrived

well, I guess it's going to be a while before I get seen by the nurse

she goes over to the student who had just arrived not too long ago

hi, I don't mean to bother you. my name is Amanda. what happened to you? I was attacked by a book outside of the care of magical creatures class while on a walk. I thought it was a normal book, but it turned out not to be. I just wanted to read it since it had looked like someone had dropped it, but I guess I know now why it was lying there. it must scare the owner of the book, making them drop it and run off. this is my first visit to the hospital Wing since I arrived.

she let out a sigh as she stood next to him, her wounds still bleeding a bit.

it seems like a lot of students have it worse than I do. I just hope I can get seen so, but I may be here a while by the looks of all that seems to be going on right now.

she picks up a Bean from the tray, and when she ate it, she looked a bit disgusted

that tasted like vomit

"Oh...Hello... Amanda... I am not in the mood to talk. Please... leave me be.... Or maybe... do you know any spells that help me. Please do." Andy flipped on another side of the bed. Amanda could hear him snoring. "Now, give me some rest if you can't help me." Andy took a peppermint toad and stuffed it into his mouth. Andy slept and slept until his wound stopped bleeding and was barely stinging. Andy didn't know if it was becuase of sleep or the potion he drank started working. Amanda was already in transfiguration. "Good. I can finally relax." Thought Andy thought. Still, Andy had homework to do. He took a book that was on a table and did his Transfiguration homework. Andy finished with his history of magic essay about the gargoyle strike of 1911. History of magic by far, was the most boring subject. Potions was a bit more fun. Andy did a essay about the Maxima potion and checked it. Then the last homework was to right another essay about the spell "Depulso" Amdy was good at spells so explained everything about it's uses in a couple minutes and wrote a 350 word essay. Andy almost recovered from his injury when he finished more homework and went to sleep for a bit more. For lunch he had a chicken casserole with pumpkin juice. Now that Andy was full, it was time for dessert, which was 2 bags of peppermint toads. Then Andy mad up a game by throwing marbles that was in a jar next to him, at a house elf. Then when it was usally time for Astronomy, Andy was already in his pajamas sleeping. In a couple hours, Andy woke up, full of energy and played the marble game until he ran out of marbles and went to sleep on his warm bed again, then, woke up again for a action packed night. Andy ate a couple peppermint toads for energy. Then he stood up from his bed and looked at all of the people with dung instead of their heads and very sick people from playing sports. Some where covered in lumps. Then Andy watched out the window as some trouble makers sneaked out of Hogwarts to go drink butterbeer at Hogsmeade. The Hospital wing gave Andy a break from classes. The last time Andy felt his wound is when he fell on his knee before going to bed again. When Andy woke up this morning, his wound became worse and started stinging. Andy took a sip of the potion and went back to sleep only to see Amanda staring at him again. "What now?" "Oh. I am just watching." Andy turned on his back and pretended to sleep. He was actually eating peppermint toads again under the covers. "Please leave me..." Amanda already left. "Why does she care about me so much?" Thought Andy Then he went to the food trolley for bacon and eggs. It tasted good like al the time it did. Andy now was ready for another day at the hospital wing. The books and homework came so Andy did that, then back to the marble game when the jar was full of marbles again. Andy recovered from his injury on his third day in the hospital wing. It was fun in the hospital wing. Now, it was time for class. Andy put on a new pair of robes and went out of the hospital wing with a bag of peppermint toads in his hand.
