He could finally start at the scavenger hunt club! Every since Mylo had seen the posters advertising the club they couldn't wait to join, having loved puzzles and finding stuff since they were little it felt like the place for him. So without hesitation they had signed up, and the day had come. The group had been told to gather on the grounds, and that they would start there.

Making his way over Mylo started getting a little nervous, wondering what it was going to be like and who the other people in the club would be. Having made sure to leave early, but not too early as to be the first person there they straightened out their shirt and walked out onto the grounds. Noticing the neatly carved pumpkins, and taking some time to have a look at the design on them.

After everyone had arrived he noted that there were 5 people in total, one of whom seemed to be the leader, Ernest he learned, who would set out the hunts. They got the instructions as to how this would work, basically looking everywhere to find clues that would lead to the next clue. Starting to feel more exited than nervous Mylo started scanning the grounds for potential places that Ernest could have hidden the clues. Seeing the pumpkins they had admired earlier, 3 leaf piles and 2 stones.

Deciding that the leaf piles would probably be a safe bet to have a look at he made their way over to them. Seeing the 3 piles they started to think about which one would be best to search, the big one is rather big and would take a bit longer to get through on my own, I think the small one would be the best option to quickly get through. Maybe I can search the big one with someone else. He thought, moving over to the smallest of the three piles and they started rummaging through it, hoping to find something.

Out of breath, Della finally arrived at the spot on the grounds where they were supposed to meet. Oh god, had it started? Was she late? No, it seemed the young Slytherin was just beginning to explain the rules and introduce himself. Phew.

Looking around at the group, Della realized that she was the oldest one here. It didn't help that she was tall for her age, either. This year was supposed to be "operation: making longlasting friendships and actually talk to others; not just broom race" and joining clubs was a part of that—but did this club leader have to be fresh off the first-year boat?

Okay, so her first instinct was to be grumpy and judgmental. Let's try the second instinct. Ernest put together a whole scavenger hunt for them. He must be very clever. This should be fun! Della sighed. You're here to here to have fun! Have fun! She repeated the mantra in her head.

Turning to both Ernest and the young Ravenclaw, both of whom were closest to her, she introduced herself. "Hi, I'm Della. Um, I'll get started with one of the pumpkins."

There were four pumpkins. One for each house. Her house? Or should she go with Ernest's house? Or is that too obvious? Had he already said anything that was clue-ish? Flying, great at finding stuff...

Mellani was quite excited for the scavenger hunt. She would finally have yet another activity to look forward to. Her last attempt at a Scavenger Hunt hadn't gone great, but maybe this one would be better.

She arrived at the grounds a little late, but apparently not to late as their host, Ernest began to explain the rules. It seemed simple enough, and the hint at the prize made Mellani bristle with excitement and determination. Maybe it was a broom. Mellani already had a broom, but that didn't mean she would decline another one.

Mellani looked around at the number of things scattered around. There were leaves, rocks and pumpkins. The leaves would take a lot of time to search, so Mellani decided to start with the rocks. There was one big one, and one small. Mellani decided to go with the big one. The small one seemed a little too obvious to her, seeing that it was small, and covered less area. She lifted the big rock and started looking under it. She also investigated the rock itself, looking for cracks that might have a piece of paper jutting out of it, hoping to find something. She wasn't an expert at these, but she had played quite a few at her house, and she hoped that that would count as experience.

Ernest had a bag beside him, full of little prizes just in case no one found anything, though he didn’t think that would be the case as each person went searching. Mylo and Mellani seemed to be in the zone, racing to get started. Mylo hit up the small leaf pile first, messing up his piles but he could get over it. He spotted the flash of green, knowing the boy had found the acid pop he had dropped in the pile.

Mellani went to the rocks, instead of the other things, turning over the big one without much fuss. Ernest wondered about the thought process for that decision, as he wouldn’t have thought to go to the rocks first. Though as she bagged both a Sticky caramel and a Chocolate Frog, he knew she was much smarter than he would have been in her shoes.

Lastly, Della actually talked to him, though it seemed more out of awkwardness instead of actual conversation, not that he blamed her. She went where he would have gone the pumpkin, picking the Hufflepuff one easily it looked it. He was almost scared she’d smash his hard work, but she didn’t seem like the type. She came out with only a Sticky caramel for her trouble.

“Don’t worry if you don’t find the clue just yet! It’s still out there!” He commented from his table.

The grounds are beautiful in the fall, and full of leaves, pumpkins, and clues! For this round, there are many places a clue can be! Look around under the rocks; one big and one small. Shuffle through the colorful leaves, three pretty small, middle, and large piles taking up the space. Maybe even check a pumpkin, 4 carved, each with the seal of a Hogwarts house.

While digging around the small leaf pile Mylo suddenly saw a stick sticking out of it, picking it up they saw that they had found a lollypop! It was nearly neon green, 'I wonder what flavour it is, maybe apple or something?' They thought looking around to see if the others had found something as well, noticing that both Mellani and Della had found something, but he couldn't quite make out what.

Walking up to where Ernest and the group was stood they realized that he had completely forgotten to introduce themselves to everyone, with the nerves about joining a new group, meeting new people and all the new information he'd been presented with it hadn't dawned on them to do so. This was highly unlikely for Mylo to do as they couldn't stand people being rude and would go out of their way to not be rude himself. So although they were nervous and hoped he wouldn't be seen as rude they walked up to them and introduced themselves.

"Uhm, hi. I'm really sorry, I just realized I completely forgot to introduce myself when I came here. I don't usually do that, so I'm sorry. I'm Mylo. I really like the way you've set this up and I'm looking forward to doing this with you. Also I had a question, these prizes we find do we need to put them somewhere? And what flavour is this?" He asks holding up the lollypop.

Mylo is pleasently surprised as Ernest tells them that the things they find are for them to keep or do with as they please, and that the lollypop is an acid lolly, Mylo doesn't quite know what to expect from that flavour but decides to try it at another point in time. As the first leaf pile was a success they decide to start looking through the medium sized one, to see if that one has anything as well.

There was something in the large pumpkin. A simple sticky caramel. Was it a clue? Della started to quickly run through synonyms for "sticky" in her head, comparing them to the hiding places that surrounded her. Or maybe "caramel" was the more important clue. The leaf piles were the same colors as the candy, and they were all stuck together in one big pile—

At that moment, Ernest mentioned that they had not yet discovered the clue. Okay, so Della was overthinking the whole thing by a lot. And it looked like Mylo had the leaf piles covered anyway. The second-year Slytherin girl was covering the rocks. So the rest of the pumpkins were still wide open and unsearched. Were they too obvious? Should Della be checking the leaves? How far did the search area reach? Were they all being led astray? Was Ernest here to torture them with vague clues and candy?

Della inwardly prodded herself, get it together. Definitely overthinking. Just have fun.

In an effort to have fun and underthink, she moved to her house's pumpkin. If not a clue, then maybe some good luck for the broom racing team this year. Or maybe just more candy! She started to nibble on the caramel as she searched, desperately hoping she was eating a clue.

Mellani was pretty surprised to find that she had found not one, but two things while looking through the big rock. The first was a sticky caramel. Although Mell was pretty sure that this was not a clue, she decided to look through it anyways, rolling it around on her finger. Not finding anything, she went back to the rock, finding a chocolate frog sticking out of it. That looked tasty, but still not the clue. She put the frog in her pocket and decided to search something else, maybe the small rock.

Earnest had said that no one found anything, and since the older Gryffindor and the younger Raven were covering the pumpkins and leaf piles, Mellani thought that it would be awkward if she went there too, and hence decided to continue with the rocks. Hopefully the small one would give her a clue.

Mellani picked up the small rock and examined the place below it first. After that she went to the rock itself, examining all the cracks that she saw. She hoped that this round at least one of them would make some progress. If not progress, they would at least be left with lesser places to search and more chances to find something useful. Earnest was a really good host for scattering prizes other than the grand prize around the grounds so that no one would feel left out.

The half goblin whistled as he watched them search. He figured by the time the next clue was reviewed, some of them might have no room in their pockets to stuff the note. He hoped that the one of them who found it would understand it. He figured the second the girl did, though, she'd take off to find the prize there.

He couldn't help but watch Della as she searched, seeing the slightly brown paper sticking out of pumpkin's eye, the next clue. “You all can help each other figure out the clues!” He said, not wanting to frustrate the girl if she did get stuck on it.

‘Gsv hgzih lumxv lfg sviv, srwv rm gsv wzbortsg.’ the note said, clue hidden in the cipher. He had thought long and hard about how he wanted to do this clue, and in the end he figured it would be fun to add mental challenges in with the physical. The others got more stuff to pocket, and he knew there was still some in the other spots, but at the moment his eyes were on Della, seeing how long it took her to figure out where to go.

The pile of leaves was taking a decent amount more time to get through, makes sense when you think about the fact that it's a bigger pile, and Mylo was thinking that maybe this one didn't have anything in it to find. Just when he was about to abandon ship and try one of the rocks or pumpkins they spotted something out of the corner of their eye, getting rid of the leaves around it he picked it up not recognising the treat. It looked to be some kind of cake or so? With the same green colour icing as the lollipop they'd found in the other pile. Quite the find!

They were really quite enjoying the search, and were glad to have joined. Ernest's comment made Mylo wonder how difficult the clues would be, 'hopefully he said that out of precaution.' he thought to themselves. Although they liked a good riddle sometimes there were puzzles that were nearly impossible and would probably require everyone's input.

Deciding to continue looking for the clue they moved over to the pumpkins, not quite wanting to conquer the big pile of leaves yet. They'd noticed that the Gryffindor girl had already searched the pumpinks with the Gryffindor and Hufflepuf seal on them, thinking that she'd likely thoroughly searched both of them he moved over to the Ravenclaw one. 'Starting with my own house, must be good luck right?' They thought as he started searching the pumpkin.
