Rose was perusing the shelves of the library. It was raining outside, so though she would usually take this time to clear her head with a walk outside, that wasn't really an option unless she wanted to get soaked. Which she didn't. Instead, she walked through the shelves of the library, letting this be the walk that she needed. There was something so calming about being surrounded by books and words and quiet. Not complete silence- there was still the rustle of pages, the distant pounding of rain on the castle, and a couple creaky floorboards here and there.
She was in her cat form, which she hoped was okay. She supposed the worst thing that could happen was if the librarian found her and took her outside. She had never seen anything against pets in the library, and she certainly wasn't intending to cause any harm to any books, so she was fairly sure being in her feline form was alright. The bookshelves seemed so big to her- that was another thing she was getting used to with being in her feline form. She was so much smaller. Everything else seemed huge to her.
The calico cat spied a table pushed up against a window. It was closer to the back of the library, so there weren't a lot of people around. She supposed she could jump up there and look out the window for a minute. As she approached the table, she realized somebody had left a huge mess. Piles of books sat on the table. She felt a pang of pity for the librarian and the house-elves. They would probably have to come clean up these piles of books left haphazardly on this table.
Rose gathered her energy, and then sprang up onto the table. She decided once she was done looking out the window, she would clean it up herself and make more neat piles so it would be simple to return the books to where they belonged. As she jumped up on the table, though, the table shook on her landing.
The next thing she knew, she was under a pile of books on the floor. She must have caused some kind of... book avalanche? She wiggled to try to get out, but it was to no avail. She didn't feel hurt, but... now she was stuck! She meowed, hoping somebody would come find her.

Help!
Unknowingly helping @Rose MoonReducioViva walked into the library, clutching her bag of books and school supplies. She was planning on getting some homework done, especially work on a very long essay for Defense against the Dark Arts. She was a little disappointed, she had been wanting to go outside and work by the lake to get some fresh air, but it was raining.
Sighing, Viva looked around for somewhere to sit. She walked forward and peered around a book shelf, looking for an empty table. It was so quiet in there. Just the muffled sounds of students whispering to each other, the turning of pages, and the distant drumming of rain on the windows. It was kind of nice, and soothing. Viva took a deep breath and let her body relax.
She turned the corner and suddenly was on edge again. There was a cat trapped under a pile of books! It was meowing pitifully, and Viva was horrified. I hope it's not hurt or injured! Dropping her book bag, she darted forward as fast as she could.
"Oh no, you poor thing!" Viva gently reached out, hoping not to scare the animal. I wonder who's pet this is? The beautiful calico cat was wriggling and trying to escape, and Viva felt a fresh wave of worry. She carefully started removing books from the top of the pile, slowly freeing the trapped cat underneath. Finally, the pile was almost gone, and Viva was able to slowly grab the cat and gently tug it out from under the last books.
She gently rubbed the cat's fur, checking it all over for injuries. Viva breathed out a sigh of relief as she realized the cat was not hurt in any way that Viva could see. "I'm so glad you're okay," she murmured as she continued to stroke the cat. "I wonder who you belong to?" She looked at the cat more closely, trying to find any identifying features. Wow. It's eyes are very beautiful. They were a striking shade of green.
Viva picked up the calico, who was not too big that she was heavy in Viva's arms. Still rubbing the cat's white belly and scratching behind it's ears, she started walking over to a table with some people sitting at it, intending to ask them if anyone had lost a cat.

Suddenly, she felt a weight come off her. A girl exclaimed as she saw her situation, and Rose meowed pitifully in reply. After a couple of books were removed from the pile, Rose was pulled out of the pile of books. She glared at the pile. How could somebody leave the books so haphazardly like that? How irresponsible.
She looked up to see the girl that had saved her. The girl was pretty, with brown hair and kind blue eyes. She seemed young, at least younger than Rose, though the redhead couldn't pinpoint exactly which year she was in. That probably meant she was a good bit younger, because Rose could usually recognize the third or fourth years by now.
The calico cat hadn't been in any real danger, and probably could have wiggled out eventually, but she was so grateful the girl had come along. Rose shook her legs and turned in a circle to see if she was hurt anywhere, but she couldn't feel any real injuries anywhere. She was probably bruised in a couple of places, but she felt fine. The girl patted her, seeming to look for the same thing. Rose realized she should probably thank the girl for helping her- it was the right thing to do, after all.
Expressing her relief that Rose was okay, the brown-haired girl picked her up. It was a dizzying feeling to be pulled from the ground so fast, though Rose was glad that the girl was so gentle. It made her think about how other animals felt when she picked them up. Rose was slightly small for a cat, as well, so she was relatively easy to pick up in the first place. Rose pushed her head into the girl's hand as she scratched her head. Okay, she was pretty sure she liked this kid.
The girl said something about finding her owner, and Rose realized she was walking towards a group of people. Rose panicked a little- it was one thing to meet somebody in her feline form, but another to be carried around and asked if she belonged to someone. Rose wiggled out of the girls arms, jumping to the floor, which was fairly easy, since the girl wasn't too tall. Rose stepped a couple of paces towards a bookcase, then looked back, as if beckoning the girl to follow.
If the girl did follow her, Rose would round the corner and sit between the towering shelves of books, waiting for the girl to join her. After a quick look around, Rose shifted back into her human form. Red, black, and white fur turned to tan skin and red hair. She blushed a little. She still wasn't used to changing forms in front of people. "Sorry if I startled you. I'm actually a witch, I just didn't want to cause a commotion by transforming under the pile of books. I wasn't sure if that would cause like... an explosion or something?" She laughed lightly. Her voice was soft and sweet, with the slightest hint of a fading American accent. "Thank you so much for helping me. I really appreciate it. I hope you don't mind me asking- what's your name?"

Help!
Being startled by @Rose MoonReducioViva flinched, startled, as the cat jumped to the floor of the library and out of her arms. Did I hurt it? What happened? When the calico cat looked back, Viva took it as an invitation to follow it, and did. She went around a tall pile of books, which shielded them from the others in the library. Suddenly, Viva gave a shriek. Something was happening to the cat. It seemed to be growing in size, and it's fur was shrinking, except on it's head, where it was rapidly lengthening. What is happening?! Viva was extremely alarmed right now.
Suddenly, a tall girl was standing before her. She had long wavy red hair and pretty green eyes. Viva was breathing rather quickly, very startled and confused about what had just happened. "Um - you're welcome?" she squeaked out, still scared. How had the sweet little cat just turned into a human? "My - my name is - is Genevieve, but most people c-call me Viva," she managed, her voice barely a whisper. "H-how did you just do that?" She asked, mystified. Shifting her foot around on the library floor, Viva's bright blue eyes were large and round. I don't know what just happened!

Rose felt bad immediately as the girl stood there, in shock, unsure of what to do as she just watched a cat turn into a human. Rose likely would have done the same thing when she was younger, and now that she was in her human form, she could tell that the girl was certainly younger than she was. If not by just her height and appearance, also how Rose didn't recognize her. Usually, she could identify most Gryffindors and fourth or fifth years, since she had been going to school with them for so long, but she couldn't tell you this girl's name if her life depended on it.

Viva. "I like that, that's pretty," Rose said, in response to her sharing her name. "I'm Rose."
The girl, still shocked at the transformation, asked how she did that, and Rose guessed that she should explain. "I'm an animagus," Rose said. "I went through this really complicated process of becoming one, and now I can turn back and forth at will. It's pretty cool, and not that many people choose to do it because... well, it's long and complicated," she said, laughing, and hoping that the girl didn't think she was bragging. "I really am sorry if I scared you. That was very kind of you to help me back there. Do you come to the library often?"
