Melunas Letters

Oct 13th 2023

Mom,

I got your last letter. I mentioned in my first letter that I was scared and wanted to come home to you. I didn't think you freak out this bad after reading those words. I guess I'm an idiot for writing them in there. Hogwarts isn't so bad. I told you I met some of the other kids on the train and in my dorm. I'm trying to fit in. I've explored every inch of this castle and even the Library i'm in now is huge. I never thought one person could read so much. I met a boy. I'm still trying to get the hang of using a wand. I never thought humans could fly. We fly on brooms, mom, isn't that cool?

About the whole religion thing...I can't practice that here. I doubt many know about the Christian religion. I'm not saying I don't want to support the idea but...magic is real, mom. You baptized me when I was born. I won't let that go. But I don't want to preach to others about religion when magic is all around us. I know you hate magic. But this is me now. You said some unkind things in your letter. I'm supposed to see you at Christmas. I hope dad was kind about the Owl coming to your porch. The city isn't really a place for owls. I don't really know where they go in the human world. Maybe you still get mail from our mail man. You probably prefer that.

There are no classes today. I think I will practice some more with my wand today. The professors have been so kind to me. I'll write you again soon. Please don't be so upset next time you write.

Your daughter,
MR
