Beauty (Juliet) and the Beast (Greebo)
Dennis laid in his bunk trying to sleep but tonight was one of those nights were his cat, Juliet, did nothing but meow and yowl loudly. It was bad enough that his bunk mate and some of the others in the room started to complain as they were trying to sleep as well. There wasn’t anything to do but try to take her for a walk. He got out of bed and rummaged around his desk drawer for a bit, finally finding Juliet’s leash and harness. He normally let his cat off the leash but it was late and he didn’t want her bounding off after some shadow and critter. When she heard the leash she jumped onto the table and waited politely for him to put it on her.
Dennis shushed all the murmuring. He heard them already. He was taking care of it. He picked up Juliet and made his way out of the dormitory and into the common room. He tried to let her roam there but again she was loud and rubbing over the furniture. It was bad enough that the few stragglers burning the midnight oil in the common room also complained. He had no choice but to go outside and actually take her for a walk.
He tried to complain to Juliet that it wasn’t fair and he wanted to sleep but if she understood him she was pretending not to as she trotted toward the entrance. Down the stairs they went and into he corridors of Hogwarts. It was a different feel than during the day time. It was silent, eerily so. The torches flicking across the hall made the long hallways seem as if they were dancing. Even Juliet’s delicate feet seemed to echo down the hall with each little step she took.
Pretty soon, Dennis seemed to have lost his way. Perhaps going down one too many flights of stairs. He would be a sitting duck if anyone caught him out so late but as far as he could tell there was no one else around. He was safe for the moment.

Beauty (Juliet) and the Beast (Greebo)

The corridor was empty at this time of night. The Sun had long gone down, classes were over, dinner was eaten and kids were snug in bed or dorm or common room. Dim light from stars or Moon filtered through windows and the occasional magical torch provided more than sufficient illumination to the keen of eye. Soft sounds might come to the ears of those with highly sensitive hearing. Perhaps a stray bit of parchment rustling in a forgotten corner, left over from the scholarship of the day, some desperately needed notes from Divination or even a discarded love note.
Not all denizens of the castle known as Hogwarts relied on sight alone! There were some indeed with a penchant for sniffing out trouble. And one of them came loping along the corridors of the castle. Silently, bare feet trotted along the cool stones. Only someone with really good, one might say animalistic, hearing could make out the footfalls. Equally difficult to detect was another patter of feet.
Tiny feet. Black paws scurrying here and there!
In the moonlight, a glance of dark blue eyes could be seen as the creature of shadow passed by.
By dim torchlight, something could be seen bobbing in the air, at about knee height to the suits of armour that lined the corridor. A small brownish object floating along, zigging and zagging. Crystal blue eyes flashed! The object rolled through the air! The shadowy four legged creature pounced!
"MRRRRRRRR!" Greebo growled lowly. The cork ball that Colin had been levitating through the corridor dropped with a soft bap onto Greebo's nose and went rolling off into the corridor. Colin came up alongside his cat. Something wasn't right. He crouched. His wand at the ready, he sniffed delicately at the air.
Someone was lurking! He didn't know who it was. They didn't smell familiar at all. Colin decided to see who it was. His wand was already out and at the ready. He lifted it up and said "Caeruleus inflamare." A ball of blue flame erupted from Colin's wand and floated along the corridor. Not too far before two faces were illuminated. "Come on Greebs! Let's see who's out causing trouble!" Boy and cat trotted down the side corridor, stopping a short distance from the interloper. Greebo's cat toy had come to a rest a couple feet away from another cat.
Colin smirked.
"'Ello 'ello! Wot do we have here? Sneaking around after curfew, are we?" Colin's smirk broadened. "Carry on lad! Don't let the prefects catch ye!"

Colin leaves the thread.
Keep your mind in hell; and don't despair.
