Interacting with @Linda Ramirez Mentioning @Sienna Caldwell | @Bea Langstreth Date - 29/11/23 WC 447/200 Color Legend - Thoughts | Mylo Lessons had just finished and Mylo had decided to go to the quidditch training pitch, after having seen the fall Quidditch match with Sienna flying had piqued their interest and he had had the thought to practice a little bit outside of the lessons they had already had. They hadn't done much besides the standard safety theory stuff, getting the broom off the floor and hovering slightly off the ground in the actual lessons, so he had decided to get ahead a little and do a bit of practicing on their own. What could go wrong?
Walking up to the pitch he couldn't help but marvel at the sight of it, it was quite something to behold. Probably because they hadn't been here before but there was no one here to judge them for being in awe of a sports pitch, so why would he stop. Holding on tight to the broom they had gotten from their prefect Bea they stepped onto the pitch, apparently she had heard them talking about how they found the quidditch match very cool, and that they might want to look into doing something unofficial but that they didn't have a broom or anything. He wasn't actually planning on actually acting on the thought, but the next thing they knew Bea was gifting him a nimbus 1700, so what better way to appreciate a gift than to actually use it.
For as far as Mylo could see there was no one on the pitch, he was actually quite grateful for this. They didn't like being watched to much, it made them feel like they had to be perfect and gave them too much anxiety for their liking. Standing on the pitch he got their broom off the ground and threw their leg over the broom, straddling it. With a deep breath they kicked off of the ground and started hovering. 'Okay, this isn't too bad. This is actually going well! Keep it steady.' he thought to himself.
Unfortunately this was how far they had come in the lessons, and without knowing why they started floating a bit higher. 'Okay, I don't like this, why are we going higher. I need to get on the ground.' Slightly panicking he remembered how to get the broom to go down, basically pointing it down, but doing so he didn't realize how much he was leaning forward. Landing decently hard on the floor Mylo stumbled off their broom loosing balance and falling onto the floor. "Damn! Why on earth is the ground so hard." They say to themselves, flopping onto their back, just lying on the floor starfished looking up at the sky.

Linda looked out of the window and decided it was a good time for little practice on her broom. She liked to practice flying for quidditch and broom racing. Surely it was impossible to be in both sports, but she wanted to be in quidditch after Hogwarts and while she was here, she would try broom racing.
So preparing herself for it, Linda took her broom and went out. She always preferred using this broom for her practice. Why would she use school one if she wouldn't use it during the game when she would be on team? No reason for it.
She wasn't afraid of flying and she already knew she could do it well. So, with all these thoughts Linda soon found herself standing near quidditch training pitch. As soon as she reached the place, she noticed someone leaning way too much and as result getting to the ground what looked like rather a hard way.
That looked rather hard. Are you okay? Do you need a help? She asked coming closer to him. Realizing that she didn't introduce herself, she looked at them again. I'm Linda Ramirez, second year, Gryffindor. What about you?
Linda wondered how much experience he had and why they leaned on the broom that much. But these were the questions she would never ask. This other student looked like he was a bit younger than her. Maybe they were a first year. Not finding anything else to say at the moment as she wanted to be sure he was alright, Linda decided to wait for an answer, should there be any.

Interacting with @Linda Ramirez Date - 29/11/23 WC 292/200 Color Legend - Mylo | Thoughts Lying on the floor, contemplating why he had thought flying without any real knowledge or practice was a good idea Mylo heard remembered something his dad told them when they were sulking about not being able to do a football trick. "Hey buddy, get up. It's okay to fail, to not get something first time round. You don't have to be perfect. If you fail you keep trying again and again until your not failing anymore, you can't do everything perfect first time round. Practice makes perfect." Deciding to not let this mistake, cause that's what it was not a failure a mistake, consume him they went to go and stand up, determined to get it right.
Before they could get very far though they hear someone asking him if he was okay. In front of them stood another student, his eyes immediately drawn to her red hair, it was quite striking. She didn't seem much older than him though and introduced herself as Linda. Trying to gather themselves from the sudden unexpected interaction Mylo started standing up wiping the dirt off their clothes. Internally preparing themselves for conversation.
"Uhm yeah, yeah, I'm okay I think. The uhm, the broom just started floating higher than hovering above the ground. I don't know why." He knew it was irrational but they started feeling a little bit anxious at the thought of Linda thinking he was failing at basic flying. Remembering she asked another question he decided to try and distract himself by answering it, hoping it would work. "I'm Mylo, first year Ravenclaw by the way." Starting to feel his palms getting a little damp, he started rhythmically tapping his thigh, hoping it would help them calm down a bit.

Linda smiled warmly when she heard he was okay. Broom is responding to the way you place yourself on it. The one you have is quite different from school one. So don't expect it to feel the same as on flying lessons.
She said it without any hint of feeling angry. Linda knew not everyone in Hogwarts knew how to fly on broom and even more, not everyone was from wizard world. You don't have to feel stressed. It's okay. If you want, I can help you.
She listened to Mylo, as now she knew their name. First year, so she guessed it right. It was nice to talk to another Ravenclaw, considering that mostly she talked within her house and Hufflepuff.
How do you find Hogwarts so far? Linda looked at Mylo and got interested. It was always fascinating to listen to others and this question was one of her favorite. It let her know a bit more about the one standing in front of her without actually asking them to say more about themselves.
She wondered for a while how much did Mylo know anything connected to magic? Linda thought he didn't look like having much experience with a broom, but since it was only her thoughts, she knew she could be wrong. She then proceeded to think whether Mylo would ask her to help with broom or not.
No matter what would be the answers, Linda was smiling warmly with calm and kind look in her eyes.

Interacting with @Linda Ramirez Date - 29/11/23 WC 268/200 Color Legend - Mylo | Thoughts 'There is so much more to flying than I thought' Mylo thought to themselves as he listened to Linda explain what went wrong. It made sense, where you put your weight on the broom made it behave differently, and what she said about the broom they had behaving differently than the school ones also made sense. It was like a different type of car or bike, it was the same vehicle just behaved differently on the road. It would be something they'd probably get used to over the years.
"You wouldn't mind? Thank you, it could help having someone who knows what they're doing." Mylo shyly states, noticing she also has a broom different to a school broom. 'She probably knows what she's doing, at least more than you do.' He thinks. 'It's quite a nice broom actually, I wonder how different brooms work.'
'Pay attention! She asked you about the school' they startle out of their thoughts, realizing Linda had asked another question. She was smiling, 'she seems nice' he thinks before finally answering her. "Hmm? Oh what I think of the school. It's interesting, there's so much that I didn't realize could be done with magic. I actually got lost on my first lesson day, those stairs are a living nightmare. Why do you need moving staircases when you can just have stationary ones. The lessons are also more fun than I thought they would be, learning magic is like amazing. Did you come here for practice?" He asks her, wondering what brought her to the pitch in the first place.

Linda was looking at Mylo when he agreed on her help. There's no problem. It also could be a nice way for me to practice today. She smiled enthusiastically and was looking forward to this practice.
It will definitely be more interesting than just practicing alone as usual. Also she could feel happier if she managed to help Mylo with flying. So, this day was surely going to be better.
Ah those stairs. It's simply based on magic and makes it unnecessary to have more staircases, but I agree. It definitely might be confusing at first. Yes, I was planning to practice as usual for broom racing and quidditch. I know we can't be in two sports at the same time, but I was planning to be broom racer here and in quidditch after Hogwarts. Linda shared her thoughts with Mylo, while holding her broom.
She thought Mylo's answers were more like magic was not really part of their life. As she grew up surrounded by wizards, magic wasn't something outstanding for her. But she found it fascinating to see how others could seem to be excited to learn it. Probably, it was as learning about muggle world was for her.
Is it all new for you? She asked, wishing to understand more how she would help Mylo with flying now. The fact that they definitely summoned their broom and even managed to be above ground was making it easier for her. But she had to know about him a bit more first.

Interacting with @ Linda Ramirez Date - 29/11/23 WC 459/200 Color Legend - Mylo | Thoughts Apparently the magical stairs are so that they don't need as many of them, but Mylo thought about how much more useful it would be if they didn't have to keep track of the stairs schedule and could just memorize which ones went where. It would make the school days so much easier. Unfortunately that was not something that Mylo could do anything about and thus it was not something that they should get hung up on.
'As she said, you'll get used to it eventually. Probably when you're in your last year and only have like a few weeks left before you don't have to have anything to do with them anymore.' They thought, not looking forward to the anxiety those stairs where likely to give them.
Linda continued talking, answering Mylo's question about if she was here for practice. One thing in particular she said caught their attention. "Oh, you can only do one sport at a time? I'll have to make a careful decision then." Muttering the last part to themselves. He hadn't really thought too much about sports but he did know they wanted to join one eventually, and switching between sports wouldn't be very helpful to properly learning one. It would be something they'd have to look into further.
Linda asked him another question, one about if this was all new to them. They slightly hesitated at this question, they had heard some horror stories about pureblood wizards not taking kindly to muggles, and had even heard some of the not so nice remarks they would make. But she had been really kind so far, and they couldn't sense any kind of malice coming from her.
'You're overreacting, jezus. She's been nothing but kind to you so far. You haven't even had anyone say anything to you yet and you probably won't, all you've heard are other peoples stories. Just because other people weren't nice to you once doesn't mean that everyone isn't going to be nice to you. Plus you don't even know if she's a pureblood, maybe she's also a muggle and you'll seem like a right douchebag.' He thought, feeling awful about his presumptions as she had been nothing but kind to them. Hoping she didn't notice their slight hesitation he answered her tapping rhythmically on their thigh hoping to calm themselves.
"I didn't grow up with magic, didn't actually know it existed before I got my acceptance letter. It's quite fascinating though, I wonder if I had seen any before and just didn't know what it was. Is there a lot of magic in the muggle world? Or not, like do wizards go there often?" He wonders, curious if maybe he had met a wizard before.

Linda smiled remembering how she always liked those moving stairs. Not her first year though as sometimes it took time to get to the necessary place, but mostly it was exciting. She guessed it was more a matter of getting used to it.
Returning her attention back to Mylo, she heard him confirming about sport. I mean it makes sense. It would be hard to be in more than one sport at the same time, you know. Although her words could sound like rude, she still managed to say them without any irritation, staying completely calm and kind as she was.
After her question, however, Linda noticed it was taking some time for Mylo to answer. She looked at them, wondering if she should say it was okay if he didn't want to answer. After hearing the answer she guessed the reason behind that delaying.
While it's possible that you could meet some wizard in muggle world, you surely won't see them using magic. We are not allowed to do it openly in front of muggles or where they can see it. She paused wondering if she was sounding mean. Oh so you are like one of my besties, muggleborn. Do you mind telling me more about muggle world? I am from pureblood family and before you would get wrong idea about me, my parents and I don't care about blood status and my friends here are of different statuses. She decided to say only about her parents and not other relatives as Ramirez were well-known wealthy purebloods who wouldn't accept anyone not pureblood, starting from her grandparents and going far ago you the past. Although her mother's side grandparents and Blacklia were not as strict purebloods. Well, either way it wasn't necessary for Mylo to know all of that.

She hadn't reacted nastily or weird about him being a muggle and having no prior knowledge of the magical world. 'She didn't seem to notice it, good.' He thinks, not noticing her reaction due to focusing on hiding their anxiety and her immediate response to their questions.
As she answered him, they noticed that it had completely slipped Mylo's mind that they weren't allowed to do magic in front of muggles. Would that include his family? Or would they be considered an exception as Mylo was a wizard. He had been looking forward to maybe one day showing them all they had learned during the school years and was now wondering if that would actually be possible.
As they were thinking about this he heard Linda talk about her family, apparently she came from a pureblood family and luckily she didn't care about blood status. This made Mylo relax a bit, even though he knew they didn't need to be anxious for some reason the conformation still helped.
She seemed curious, asking him about the muggle world. He felt as though there wasn't much to tell as a lot they had experienced so far just felt like extra bits on top of the muggle world. But she had been kind and understanding so Mylo felt like he could probably find some stuff to talk about.
"We'll for starters we don't use brooms, or magic of any kind, mostly bikes, cars, other motorized vehicles, or we just walk. Like I don't think I've seen a single bike here. Anyway, I'm not sure there's much to talk about with the muggle world. Magic is just something that makes everything easier, like technology, my parents told me they used to have to go to library's to find information while now anything we want to find an answer to we can just google it. You could see it like a sort of magic maybe? Is there anything in particular you want to know about?
Remembering the thought that previously crossed their mind he asks her, "Uhm, like you said, we're not allowed to do magic in front of muggles, does that include my family? Will I be able to show them the 'magic world' or not? Is there some kind of rule for that?." Hoping that there were exceptions to the rule.

Linda listened to Mylo while wondering how he thought there wasn't much to talk about. And I heard you have something that you use to play games? And you have different watches and camera. I think there's something else for cooking food that I never saw in any of my friends who also live in wizarding world. And that small device, I believe it was called smartphone. Linda paused looking still curious. But perhaps it was something so ordinary for Mylo that they didn't think she'll be interested in it. Either way it was fine.
Linda listened to Mylo's question and took a second for thinking about the answer. Girl knew the rules but this question caught her off guard as she wondered about time Mylo would be adult. Before you become adult all of us can't use magic as stated by Ministry of Magic. While those of us who live in wizarding world with wizards can bypass it somehow if used while adult wizard was close, those of us who live in muggle world or like you coming from the muggle family can't do it. Once you will use magic to show your parents, Ministry of Magic will know about it and for you there's no way to let it seem like adult did it. Which will result in you getting into trouble. However, when you will be adult, most likely it would be fine to show it to your parents, but take care so no one else would see. Keep it in mind also that not everyone from muggles will welcome the idea of some magical world and wizards.
Realizing she spoke quite much, Linda paused to take a breath and let Mylo process her answer. She hoped she didn't scare him while answering the question. So in attempt to bring back more light talking she looked at them. When would you like us to practice with brooms? Brooms that seem to be forgotten in all this discussion now were attracting Linda's attention.
