There were certain things Nellie missed about home. Obviously, her family was the primary cause of her homesickness most days, but there was something else that the young Hufflepuff missed. At home, she had her own room. Honestly, she didn't mind sharing with a bunch of other people. That wasn't it. No. What she missed was the little nook she'd managed to dedicate in her room to art. Her travel art set was nothing in comparison to what she had at home. Brushes of every size lined up just so, pencils and chalk galore. She had no reason to be sparse with her pain at home. But more than the supplies, she missed the peace that her room offered her with which to practice her art. At Hogwarts, it was always a struggle to find a place to sketch, even if the place was rife with inspiration.

Today she'd managed to snag a place mostly alone at a table in the Great Hall. There were others around, of course, but that didn't bother her. Before her sat a plate of carefully arranged food items. There was a meat pie, grapes, and even a tart among the offering, though she didn't seem overly interested in eating it at the moment. She was sketching it. Her utensil of choice was a pencil at the moment. Pens were unforgiving and quills were a pain. Most of her work these days held little to no color as she was hard pressed to run through her limited color supplies. The drawing was decent. As always, she was learning and there were flaws, but it was more than most kids her age were capable of.
