the bells on the door jingle as i walk into the store, it's not crowded but it's quite loud, there is a pheonix in a cage at the back of the shop screetching, i walk through a spiderweb and i can tell that the spider (although i can't speak spider) is very upset, so i apolagize and keep walking theres a cat sleeping soundly on the counter, and a few snakes on the floor theres a rat cage bats dangeling from the ceiling and a single pygmy puff on a chair,
which looks tremendously like a pillow on a chair, I look on the side of the shop, were there's a box of rabbit's and a terrarium of toads next to it. I wonder what it feels like to be cramped in a small shop like this all day just waiting to be bought...
"looking for something?" I snap back to attention and turn back to the counter, and an old grey-haired man smiles kindly at me, he chuckles "sorry! I didn't mean to scare you, I was just in back when I heard the bells, are you looking for anything specific?" I shake my head "nothing in particular, maybe a pet that's easy to care for but still interactable" he chuckles again, "so I guess that leaves out the fish" he says, "hmm, how about... ah! a rat! there easy to care for fun to play with and they're very popular these days!" he pulls out his wand and says "rats come here!" about five rats come running, the cats ears perk up, "oh no you don't!" a small gleam of light covers the cat and the cat's eyes shut. he turns and winks at me "sleeping spell, old ginger has a love for mice, but of course we can't have her eating all the stock!" he chuckles again, "ah, anyway, rats! that's right," he motions to the floor, "uselly the rats pick for themselves so just sit down and one of them should come to you" I sit down and watch the rats scamper up sniff me and walk back, after a few minutes one rat bigger than the rest, scampers up to me and promptly sits on my head. "interesting, that one uselly bites people, but she seems to like you!" "what's her name?" I ask staying perfectly still as to not have the rat drop of my head. "she doesn't have a name, so you can pick a name" "great!" I slowly reach up and carefully but firmly pick her of my head, I look at her, she is a big brown rat, roughly the size of my shoe, with big round black eyes and long whiskers. "potato" I say placing her down "I think i'll call her potato" he smiles kindly, "wonderfull, I'll have her ready for you tomarrow" he pulls out a peice of paper and scans it, "4 gallions," he says "she costs four gallions" I hand him the money and walk out the door (narrowly missing the spiderweb on the way out) "thank you!" I say
