Closed The unknown

Emory’s foot trembled nervously against the floor of platform 9 3/4 as she watched the train that would take her to her new life, her new home. The thought chilled her. She didn’t want to leave her family, who had raised her with love. It felt like she was abandoning them forever, even though she would visit them during every holiday and send owls as often as possible. She squeezed her parents’ hands standing on either side of her, then rested her head on her father’s arm for a moment.

”I’ll miss you,” she said somewhat melancholy, though a growing excitement started tingling in her
neck. Emory glanced at her parents one more time, trying to absord everything, as weeks of being away from people the two people she loved more than the stars in the sky seemed unbearable. She slipped her hands free and cast one more look at them before heading towards the new and unknown.

The train felt a bit stuffy inside, but a cozy feeling immediately enveloped her. The old wooden compartment doors and the soft seats behind them only reminded her of her family’s cottage in London. A tear rolled down her cheek, but she quickly wiped it away. She wouldn’t get far if she started crying now. After inspecting the compartments for a while, she arrived at an empty one.

Finally,” Emory muttered to herself and creaked open the door. She slipped inside and began stowing her bags on the shelves above the seats before settling onto the couch. Emory let out a sigh and pulled a book from her backpack, one she had bought during her vacation at her aunt’s house in Oxford. Her aunt was a witch, but lived a muggle life, and she always knew the best bookshops to recommend. Emory opened the book to its right page and let it carry her away from here, away from all the other world.
