The Ravenclaw Hopefuls
interacting with @Layla Goldsky
The crimson steam engine awaited her. After a somewhat tearful good-bye (mostly from part of her mother) with her parents, Jenny boarded the Hogwarts Express. She found an empty compartment towards the middle of the train. Knowing that she probably wouldn’t get another chance alone, she quickly changed into her plain black school robes and took a seat next to the window, facing away from the platform. She didn’t want to have to watch her parents as they parted ways for the next several months. It wouldn’t be until Christmas that Jenny would be able to see her parents again, and yet she had never been more excited than anything in the world. There was still twenty minutes until the train departed, so Jenny opened up her trunk and pulled out her mother’s old astronomy textbook. She knew the book well and was probably able to already pass her third year astronomy exams. Not only did Jenny love astronomy, but she also felt comforted and safe with the textbook around. It reminded her of her mother and the nights they’d spend reading together or listening to her mother’s poetry. Both of Jenny’s parents were studious Ravenclaws and they’d taught Jenny to be exactly the same. She hoped more than anything that she’d be sorted into Ravenclaw as well. Jenny opened the textbook and began to read it. Well, it was less reading and more glancing at the words and charts. She’d almost had the whole thing memorized, so it wasn’t exactly a matter of reading, but rather just reminding herself of the contents. She was just reading about her favorite constellations, when the compartment door slid open and a young girl, probably another first year, stepped inside.
