It was a frosty February morning and Cassian felt chilled to the bone. He was thinking about how nice a hot cup of cocoa would be this morning as he and Zach headed down together to the Great Hall for breakfast. They entered the enormous gathering hall and took their usual seats at the Ravenclaw table. Cassian began helping himself to a steaming mug of hot chocolate as a group of four or five Hufflepuff first year girls walked behind them. They were giggling loudly and Cassian overheard one of them mention the upcoming Valentine's Day Ball that was to take place next week. This reminded Cassian of something he had been meaning to ask Zach about. Ever since Cassian's first day at Hogwarts, Zach had always felt like a friend he could trust; somebody he could talk to about anything.
"Hey Zach, I've been thinking lately. You know the Valentine's Ball next week? Well I was thinking about asking someone to go with me." Cassian explained and he and Zach continued with their breakfast.
"Anyway, I was kinda thinking about a couple of options, ya know, girls that I think are fun and cool. And seeing as how I started talking to Quinn Brook, you know the first year? Well we started talking and hanging out back in December, before the winter break, and I was thinking I might ask her. What do you think?"
Cassian sipped his hot chocolate, pleased at how it seemed to warm him up and clear away the morning chilliness.

Breakfast Time
Zach was ready with his winter uniform. He didn't style his hair as he was actually very lazy to start his day. Then he saw Cassian who was ready to have breakfast. He followed Cassian to the Great Hall. Once they were there, Zach took a seat beside Cassian at the Ravenclaw table. Zach looked if there was any silky pudding on the table but he couldn't find any. It made him disappointed. He took a glass of hot milk.

In their silence, Zach thought of what class he would do that day. Then Cassian started to speak about Valentine's Ball. Well, yes. Everyone seemed to want to get a partner to go there. "Uhuh..." He nodded. Then he continued to listen to Cassian. Quinn Brook? Zach took a sip of the hot milk before answering him. "I... don't know her much besides she is a Ravenclaw and a First Year. But if she's fun and cool like you said, why not?" Zach knew that he wasn't helpful at all. The thing is, the concept of dating, Valentine's, and romantic stuff was still alien to him. The only one he knew about Valentine's wa delicious chocolates.

"So tell me more about this Quinn Brook. I'm curious." Zach grabbed an egg toast from the table and put it in front of him. "Do you also want some toast?"
