Dori was sometimes not the most... careful. Usually they were, almost too careful sometimes. But right now they were walking through the Hogwarts corridor with a couple canvases, paint brushes, and several other painting supplies in their tote bag hanging on their right arm, and several- large- paint cans in their arms. They didn't have a bag big enough to transport all of these items, and they just had to make it to the rehearsal room to do some fun throwing paint painting. The cleaning spell always came in handy after these sessions, since they didn't have to worry about tarps or anything. But still it was a pain to transport all of these items, especially since they could barely see over the paint cans.

Still, that couldn't stop them from humming some song they had heard over the summer while they were home and thinking about what color compositions they would want to play with this sunny winter afternoon. While it wasn't break, there were a lot of students traversing the halls so they found themselves tossing several excuse me, paint coming through, sorry excuse me, as they made their way across the school hallways. Unfortunately- there were also several corners in a castle that they had to make their way around. And for one of them they did forget to shout a warning as they started rushing a little bit as their arms started to shake with the weight of everything they were carrying. Surely- nothing could go wrong though, right?

Aly's Saturdays were often quite busy, but not always with schoolwork. It wasn't uncommon for her to be found at Quidditch practice with the rest of the Ravenclaw team, preparing for the upcoming match against Hufflepuff, which was in just seven days now - and with Aly only having played one game as a Chaser so far (a game that didn't go too far into her team's favour), she desperately wanted to revamp her skill set. That meant extra work that she could put in, and having done some poking into the rehearsal schedule for the Quidditch pitch, she knew that there were only a few hours on Saturdays in which the field wasn't booked for rehearsal - aka only a few hours that she could use for individualised practice.

Unfortunately, the curly-haired Ravenclaw's past habits weren't always the best at leaving her be, and Aly had lost track of time. Now there was less than an hour until the pitch would be occupied, and she knew that the sooner she got down there, the more time she would have before getting kicked out for an official reservation. Such time constraints tended to throw Aly into a tizzy, and she practically careened around corners and through the corridors of the castle to try to get down to the pitch on time. Or, well, as "on time" as she could be a few hours late to her original plans.

As the fifth-year speed-walked - not sprinted, per se, she didn't want to be out of breath or get in trouble for running in the halls - through the corridors, she kept gaining momentum, using her hands to grab corners and swing around them just to be the tiniest iota faster. Her legs blurred as she hurried down a staircase, grabbed another corner, swung herself around it, and-

Crash!

She collided with something, or maybe someone, and with a great clatter and the sensation of some cold liquid splashing all over her, Aly tumbled topsy-turvy to the ground.

Dori felt the crash before they processed what was happening, and it was truly like a scene out of a movie. A kaleidoscope of colors flying across canvases that had otherwise been untouched, now messy masterpieces by virtue of a poorly timed crash. A tote bag that had seen stray dirty paintbrush strokes now soaked in acrylic paint.

Their voice- squeaking out as they gazed across paint strewn across the halls. The idea of magic being able to clean thrown out of their mind, their muggle-born tendencies taking over. "Oh no- Oh no, no, no, no. I'm so sorry-" They finally looked at the other person that took the brunt of the paint force, honestly she looked beautiful. No- now was not the time for artist brain. "Um, Alyssa, right?" They finally got up, paint sloshing off of them, while some of it had already dried to their skin. "I'm so, so, sorry. I should've carried these in some other way. Oh gosh."

They stood, although a bit unsteady because of the slick paint underneath their feet. Their right hand tried to wipe off on their clothes but it barely cleared it. "Here- ummm... magic! Oh my Goddess magic." They would quickly try and pull Aly up if she let them, and then fumbled for their wand.

Only to realize, it was nowhere to be found. "Uh- do you have- yours- I um... I don't have mine." There were a myriad of reasons why forgetting their wand made their blood run cold, but they tried to forget the darkness that felt like it still lingered just underneath the stone floors. Instead, they took to attempting to gather up all the things that had clattered and shoo'ing onlookers away so Dori and Aly could get cleaned up in peace.

The hard, cold sensation of her tailbone colliding with the corridor's stone ground was certainly jarring, but perhaps not quite as much as the chilly and sticky dampness that now splotched over her skin nearly from head to toe. Whatever this was, it was going to be an absolute nightmare to get out of her lion's mane of hair. Barely holding in a small cry of pain from the hard landing, Aly reached up a hand to wipe whatever it was off her forehead before it dripped down into her eyes - and succeeded, only for it to drip into her open mouth a moment later. "Plubh!" the Ravenclaw spluttered, the foul taste immediately coating her tongue with nothing in the way of relief. Acrid, bitter, and strong, it was... Aly wiped at her mouth, her fingers coming away green. "Is that..."

Finally, her green gaze came to focus on the splatters of rainbow surrounding her, the faint vision of yellow and blue dusting her curls just barely out of the corner of her eye, and she nodded in realisation for a moment - Paint. - before horror dawned on her and she groaned at the thought of having to go clean herself up, sapping her precious practice time away from her. Gross, paint! Oh, Merlin, this just had to happen to me today, didn't it? Why not any other day?

Aly's eyes darted up to the miscreant who had caused this crash of tremendous proportions and paint-portions, ready to be quite cross at them, whoever they were - but her bubbling frustration faded away nearly instantaneously when the other person began to squeak apologetically, sounding rather like a little mouse with whom Aly could not possibly be angry. Before she knew it, their hands were reaching out, and Aly was unsteadily yanked to her feet, quite unable to remember getting off the ground. The big-eyed offender, red-faced and conscience-stricken, patted themselves down and then asked if Aly had hers. Her - her what?

You're a witch, you big dolt, a little voice in the back of her head reminded her; Aly was quite sure the voice would have rolled its eyes, if it had had any. Your wand!

"Oh, yes. My wand," she muttered, reaching for her own wand pocket - only to find it completely empty. Flashing back in a millisecond to her hurried leave of her dormitory, she could quite clearly remember seeing it on the bedside table, and of course she hadn't grabbed it. This always seemed to happen to her, didn't it? - and also, to the blond whose short cut was now patched with multicolour. "I - no, I don't seem to. Bloody hell," the last bit under her breath before she turned to her new paint-covered companion and heaved a short-tempered sigh that was more meant to calm herself than do much else. "You wouldn't happen to have, like, a spare cloth or something of the sort?"

Now that she was truly examining the other person's face, they did look familiar - and with a start, Aly recognised the face as one of her classmates. A Hufflepuff, if she wasn't entirely mistaken. And one who knew her name, only confirming the Ravenclaw's suspicion. "You can call me Aly, by the way," she said dismissively with a wave of her hand, "everyone does." Squinting at the person's face, she added, "You're in my year, aren't you? Sorry, I don't know your name."
