not much time now
Keynsham, England was quite a ways from London so only Pippa's father was able to see her off that September 1st. Pippa buzzed with excitement as she pushed her cart of suitcases through King's Cross Station. In the distance, she noticed some other children her age with packed carts of their own conversing near the area between platforms 9 and 10. A thin smile crept across her face as she imagined making new friends and living with them for months on end!
"Golly, it's been years since I've been here!" Dennis chimed with his bright face turned upwards to take in the station, "Y'know I met your mother just outside this station?" Pippa broke her gaze at the other children to look up at her father and nodded slowly, "Yes, I know Dad!" Her eyes settled once more on the group of kids as they closed the distance between them and she wondered if it was a coincidence that they were standing so close to the wall she would soon need to run through to get to the proper platform.
Dennis was absolutely thrilled Pippa was accepted to Hogwarts and spent the entirety of the summer holiday sharing as much as he could remember, including the unique entrance to Platform 9 3/4. Amidst the other general knowledge Dennis shared, he had also once told her "I see you as a Hufflepuff I think" and from that moment on, Pippa knew it was destined to be.
Now, as they stood in front of the wall between platforms 9 and 10, she could hardly contain herself. She repeatedly told her father how excited she was to live at Hogwarts and then wondered if it bothered her father and mother that she couldn't wait to leave their house. She loved her family plenty but life was ordinary there; she was ready for a new adventure all on her own. With some encouragement from Dennis, Pippa took a deep breath and ran for the wall. In an instant, she was somewhere new. Pippa stood in awe of the Hogwarts Express waiting there in all its glory and the buzz of students saying their goodbyes to family members.
Once Dennis passed through the barrier, he waltzed the two of them towards the train immediately. "Not much time now," his eyebrows raising to point out the clock ticking away past 10:55. "I hope you know just how proud your mother and I are of you. Make the most of this experience! Make friends but focus on your studies..... Alright now, my little future Hufflepuff. It's time for you to hop on. We love you dearly."
"I'll write you as soon as I can," Pippa happily sighed out as she squeezed her father into a big hug, "I'll miss you all dearly! Don't forget to make Margie's breakfast every morning." They exchanged laughs and one last hug before she hopped on the train, bubbling with the need to meet every new face she passed.
