Regina stumbled upon the Magical Menagerie, a shop which sells all kinds of pets for witches and wizards. The little SpindleWheel had always wished for a pet, in fact, she even begged her father to let her have an owl when she was little. However, her father had a strong dislike towards animals, especially owls, so he refused.

Later that year, Regina entered Hogwarts, a school of witchcraft and wizardry. Before she entered the Hogwarts Express, she pleaded with her parents once again about whether she could have a little companion, a pet to accompany her life in school. Her father’s opinion was kept the same, however her mother agreed, for since her daughter behaved the best among her other siblings. Joyfully, Regina took the galleons her mother handed her, then hopped onto the train joyfully. How lovely that day was!

Regina stood at the door, deciding whether she should keep those galleons for future purposes or get herself a cute buddy. Shaking her head, she reminded herself to care less about the future, and focus on the present. So she opened the door gently, surprised at the two elderly’s friendly faces.

“Hello, I’m looking for a pet that’s suitable for school,” Said Regina, her voice was calm, neither anxious nor excited. The old couple nodded, then waved their hands in signal for Regina to follow.

Regina found herself gazing at a flock of owls, all locked in their own separate cages. She loved owls, though she wasn’t sure that any of those feathered creatures had sparked her interest. Instead, her gaze drifted to four cats playing happily a fair distance away from the birds. One was chasing its own tail playfully, another one was half-seated, glancing around as if ready to flee at the first sign of trouble, the last one was purring while grooming another ginger furred cat peacefully.

The old lady seemed to catch her staring at the cats, she smiled and introduced them one by one to Regina. When the lady began introducing the last cat, a silver mackerel male tabby, she scooped it up into her arms and began cradling. The large eyed cat seemed pretty chill, despite being held out in a vulnerable way. It purred gently when the little girl began petting its head.

“This is Cosmo, a very relaxing one I’d say. Don’t let his cold look fool you though, he’s really affectionate to people he loves. I think he likes you!” Said the lady, smiling warmly as she let Cosmo leap out of her arms and into Regina’s.

Regina smiled in return, stroking the cat, which had fallen asleep in her arms. “I’ll have him, thank you,” she whispered softly to the couple, not wanting to wake Cosmo up. The pair beamed happily, glad to see another kitten had found its forever home.
