Thoughts: italicsKaitlyn sat on her stool in the Herbology classroom as the class was winding down. Her Slytherin attire was as impeccable as always, despite having just sat through class. Not a drop of dirt on her. She enjoyed Herbology class, along with Potions. For such a pristine girl, it was a surprising revelation. But, she believed in looking as best as she could, no matter what she was doing. It helped make her look confident, even when she was feeling totally insecure. Sadly, she felt that way a lot. The only indication that she was in Herbology class from her outfit was the dragon hide gloves on her hands.
The first years did not have class afterwards for a while, so Katie wanted to take some time after class to slowly finish writing her notes. Her handwriting was neatly written in cursive. Her lines straight as an arrow, despite the lack of lines on parchment paper. Since these were the first draft of her notes, she included various features to remind herself of what to do later in the day. A star was drawn in the upper right corner of the page to indicate that this note sheet needed revision. A leaf was drawn in the lower right hand corner to signify this page as a Herbology note. A poorly detailed version of the plant they were studying was drawn in the margin, followed by the page number from the textbook so she could make it more detailed.
Amongst her handwriting, she had multiple words underlined that needed proper definitions, with small page numbers written above them to indicate where she could properly define them. There were little notes in the margins of the page, indicating what she thought or considered to be important information. Finally, she had detailed the steps they took in class to care for the plant in question. As expected, her note-taking took a while. After multiple revisions, to take place later or on different days, she’d eventually end up with text-book quality notes. A quality she was deeply proud of.
At this moment, however, Katie took the extra time to fix a few issues in her neat cursive handwriting, not paying attention to what her classmates were doing.Reducio

Herbology class has ended for the day, and Tracey was fascinated with what she had learned. She loves Herbology since she loves plants, obviously, they didn't do anything today in class, they just learned a lot of stuff. Tracey made sure to write down everything that she thought was important, since she'll be using her notes for homework. Her handwriting was neat, cursive, and small. She doodled in the margins of her notes so she would know which class it is for. Since it's Herbology, she drew plants and nature. When she was done her drawing, she closed her notebook and put it away inside of her bag along with her quill and inkwell. She didn't have classes for about an hour, so she decided to chill in the greenhouse. Once she was finished packing up, she saw a Slytherin girl and a Ravenclaw girl. She decided to talk to both of them so she nervously said,
"He-hello. I'm Tracey Bailey. H-have we met before?"
Tracey wasn't sure if she had met either of them before, but if she hadn't, she hopped that she could become great friends with them, since she needs more friends, not just in Ravenclaw, but also in the other houses as well.

Thoughts: italicsKatie crossed her legs at her knees, as she continued to fix her notes. As much as she appeared highly organized here in class, she had a plethora of muggle organization tools in her dorm. Sticky notes, colored pencils, highlighters, and pens of different colors. She often color-coded her notes, colored key terms and vocabulary terms, highlighted important parts, and added additional information through the sticky notes. She had a whole process in place. While it was a lot of work, she enjoyed organizing her notes in this fashion.
Despite not bringing everything with her, Katie wasn’t trying to hide her habits. She didn’t mind sharing her supplies and letting her friends borrow some of her muggle writing instruments. She wasn’t strung up on a high horse that no one else could touch and didn’t think of herself as superior. Then again, with her lack of confidence, that shouldn’t be much of a surprise. She hadn’t yet discovered different colored inks for her inkwell, but doubted that she would ever completely give up her muggle tools just yet.
While fixing her notes, Katie could feel the hairs on the back of her neck, not tied in her intricate hairstyle, stand up on end. It felt as if someone was watching her. ‘Why me of all people? I know I look good, but why look at me? I’m not that special.’ Her mind swirled with self doubt. It felt like she could feel that person looking at her. She looked up from her notes, quickly glancing around from all of the other students, and saw a girl nearby looking over at her. She couldn’t recall the girl’s name off the top of her head. She was bad with names, and really needed to fix that.
Due to the surprise of being stared at, and knowing that they were just getting out of class, Katie’s cheeks flushed lightly. “Hi,” she greeted the girl, barely loud enough for her to hear. “I … um … I’m Kaitlyn Connor,” she shyly whispered to the girl. Before she could get back to her intricate notetaking, a blonde girl came up to them. She didn’t immediately recognize this girl. “Hi,” she said, shyly, again. But, then, she introduced herself as Tracey Bailey. ‘Tracey Bailey … wait, I know her,’ she thought. She did a double take, finally recognizing the friendly face she met at the lake with the Polar Plunge. “H-Hi Tracey,” she smiled shyly at the Ravenclaw girl. “Um … we met at the lake, from the Polar Plunge. I’m Kaitlyn Connor,” she continued, still shy.Reducio

While she was waiting for the two girls to reply, she looked at two of them, didn't recognize the Ravenclaw girl, but was very sure she knew the Slytherin girl. Soon she heard the Slytherin girl speak and introduce herself as Kaitlyn Conner, then it clicked, Tracey does know the Slytherin girl. She smiled brightly and then heard Kaitlyn speak again. Tracey then said,
"Hey Kaitlyn! I remember! I also met Minnie there! D'you like my new hair color?"
Tracey had lost her stutter again since she was met with her only Slytherin friend. She was glad she had met Kaitlyn at the Great Lake and today in Herbology. Tracey then turned to her fellow Ravenclaw and noticed that she was about to speak, but no words came out. Tracey had a feeling that it was cause she wasn't used to talking to two girls at once. Tracey didnt blame her. She then saw her write in her notebook and she offered her a smile and said,
"It's nice to meet you, Lumine. Don't worry, I know its tough talking to people, I remember when I first started talking to people, I was so shy, that I'm pretty sure I was stuttering so much, no one could understand me, so I just wrote in my notebook."

Thoughts: italicsKaitlyn was very mindful of the break in her writing. She subconsciously moved her quill away from her notes, placing it down on the table far away from her outfit and her work. While her notes were far from the final version, she still wanted something she could read and be able to revise later in the library or in her common room. She didn’t have a particular preference in mind for that, however.
However, when she tried to talk to the girl that was looking at her, that girl seemed to be even shyer than her. A feat she was surprised at seeing. She was normally so bad at social interactions. While her mind was still as anxious as ever, Kaitlyn found her own shyness abate a little. If this girl could still communicate by writing down her answer, but that was beside the point, why couldn’t Katie be friendly enough to her? She liked to have friends, and personally would prefer to befriend whomever she could find.
Katie smiled brightly at Lumine. “Hi Lumine, I’m Kaitlyn Connor. You do not need to apologize. I understand how difficult it is to talk sometimes. I stutter so bad sometimes, I find it amazing that anyone could understand me,” she said, shyly. “You’re welcome to either talk to me or write me messages whenever you like, I honestly don’t mind.”
Katie looked over at Tracey and nodded. “I think the blonde looks good on you,” she confirmed with a smile. The last time they met each other, they were both soaked from the icy waters of the black lake. It felt nice to see Tracey dressed normally this time. She smiled at Tracey’s recount to Lumine, remembering how Tracey stuttered to her.
Smiling again, Katie looked back over at Lumine, who wrote them another message. “Don’t worry about it. You’ll be fine, I promise,” she said that last part in the most friendly tone she could muster, despite her shyness. She had a soft spot for people who were more shy than her. It gave her the confidence to talk. She flushed lightly at Lumine’s hand signals to get going. “Sorry … I … um … I’m almost finished,” she responded quickly, looking back at her notes. Her blue eyes scanned the page, fixing the last few items that she needed to.Reducio

Since Tracey had already finished packing, she waited for the other two to finish as well. Tracey had finished packing up her bag before she had talked to the two girls. She saw Lumine writing in her book and Tracey looked at it and offered her a smile. She was about to say something, but then Kaitlyn beat her to it. She heard Kaitlyn speaking to Lumine, then she addressed Tracey, saying that she likes her new color. Tracey's smile grew and she happily said,
"Thanks! I got really bored of having it always turn yellow. Especially since I used to have dark shades like black and brown as my hair color, but now I actually like the blonde color as well. Maybe I'll add some highlights over time, but I'm really glad I decided to go blonde,"
Tracey had taken Kaitlyn's suggestion at the Great Lake, and turned her hair color to blonde, she had gotten used to the color now and actually likes it much better than her old darker shades she had for her hair color. There are a lot of colors the young Ravenclaw can try out for hair colors, and she could also change her eye color as well, tho, she doesn't like doing that. She then saw Lumine motioning that they should get going. Tracey got off the chair she was sitting in and slung her bag over her shoulder and finally said,
"It's ok, Lumine! If you gotta write, I'm fine with that, I won't judge you, just remember, be who you want to be, not what people are telling you to be like, let people see the real you,"

Thoughts: italicsKaitlyn’s blue eyes finished scanning her notes, and she fixed one last mistake. With a hurried sigh, she quickly packed her items away into her bag. Even her bag was highly organized. She had a separate folder where she kept her notes that needed revising. She did her best to stay organized, knowing that her muggle best friends would approve of her efforts.
Katie looked over at Tracey and gave her a bright smile. “I think it looks really good. I’m glad you found a hair color you like,” she responded, happy for Tracey. She was glad to have found such a good friend.
Katie finally finished packing and slung her bag over her shoulder. She looked between Lumine and Tracey with an apologetic smile. “I’m sorry for taking so long. I just wanted to fix a few errors while they still were on my mind,” She said sheepishly. “I’m ready to go when you two are,” she continued with a smile. She looked back over at Lumine and smiled brightly at her. “Don’t let anyone try to change you, either. Any friend that’s worth having won’t mind if you need to write down what you want to say. I must say it is a good idea. I should’ve tried it when we first arrived at Hogwarts,” she grinned, being completely honest.Reducio

Tracey who was already standing up, watched Kaitlyn finish up her notes and then pack them up in her bag. Tracey tried to remember what her next class was, but hopped she had it with Kaitlyn. She was about to ask, but then she heard Kaitlyn compliment her again. Tracey smiled brightly and said,
"Thanks! I thought I wouldn't like blonde, and I was lying to myself, since I really love the color. What color should I do for highlights?"
Tracey was really thinking about adding highlights to her hair color and making it a lighter blonde color, since she wanted to try out new hairstyles and colors with her hair. She noticed that Kaitlyn was finally done and it was time to go soon. She then heard Kaitlyn apologize and Tracey just shook her head and said,
"Katie, you don't need to apologize. Uh, what's our next class?"
Tracey hopped that the other two wouldn't make fun of her for not knowing what her next class is, but she didn't check her schedule yet, and was probably going to do that soon. She then heard Kaitlyn talk directly to Lumine and Tracey nodded her head then slightly giggled at Kaitlyn's last sentence.
"What Katie said is true! Wow, really? I wasn't going to do that. But when I attended school in the muggle world, I'm pretty sure I did for the first month or longer," Tracey said.

Across the room from the others, Eden was packing up their own things. They had a few herbs growing in their class space, and they stroked the leaves of the basil with their finger. "I'm glad you all like me, at least," they murmured to the plants. No one had really talked to Eden yet. They were alright with this generally, but they were starting to realize that they didn't want to be alone for seven years of magic school. They packed their books into their backpack, but their sketchbook fell to the ground, spilling papers across the floor of the greenhouse. Sketches of various people, plants, and animals scattered, and a few were unfortunately eaten by carnivorous plants. Embarrassed, Eden hurried to collect the sketchbook pages. "Sorry, sorry..." they muttered, thoroughly dismayed to have messed up like that. These people had all seen their sketches! That was a terrible way to make friends...or talk to people. And besides, I'm no good at sketching at all... Eden thought to themselves as they hurriedly collected the pages and attempted to stuff them back into their sketchbook. In the process of doing so, they accidentally knocked over a pot of soil, spilling dirt across the table. "Shoot..." They muttered, on the verge of annoyed and exasperated. They began putting the soil back into the pot as quickly as they could.

Thoughts: italicsKaitlyn glanced at Tracey’s hair. Highlights? Her hair sadly didn’t have any highlight, something she wished she had. “I feel like a different shade of blonde would look good. Maybe a honey blonde?” She offered. She never tried to change her hair color, so she wasn’t immediately aware of how to help Tracey, unfortunately.
At Tracey’s question, Katie thought for a moment. “Transfiguration … ugh,” she replied. She noticed that Tracey didn’t seem to know their schedule, but didn’t call her out on it. She still found herself needing to check all the time. Since she was a muggleborn, she wasn’t thrilled with the spell casting classes. She had a tough time in them. Transfiguration was the worst for her.
At Tracey’s mention of writing on paper to communicate, Katie smiled. “Man, I wish I did it now,” she giggled.
Before she could mention about leaving for their next class, another one of their classmates dropped their papers and then knocked over a pot of soil. Without a second thought, Katie dropped her bag and hurried over to help them. She picked up some of the papers that flew away from her classmate. She noticed drawings on them, but refused to look at them. She couldn’t tell if they would want her to look, but she didn’t want to risk it. She smiled, however, as she picked up even more pages with drawings.
Once she finished picking up the papers near her, Katie walked over to them. “Hey, I collected a few of them for you,” she said, shyly. Noticing their attempt to clean the soil, she gave another smile, “Here, let me get the rest,” she offered. Despite looking impeccable at the end of class, she took her hands and transferred a pile of soil near her back to the pot.Reducio
