“I came to the woods because I wanted to live deliberately… I wanted to live deep and suck all the marrow out of life! To put to rest all that was not life… And not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived.” —The Dead Poet’s Society

The Secret History
by Donna Tartt

SYNOPSIS
Reducio
"’Does such a thing as “the fatal flaw,” that showy dark crack running down the middle of a life, exist outside of literature?’ Under the influence of a charismatic classics professor, a group of clever, eccentric misfits at a New England college discover a way of thought and life a world away from their banal contemporaries. But their search for the transcendent leads them down a dangerous path, beyond human constructs of morality."

REVIEW
Reducio
This book has you from the first line. The question of a fatal flaw existing in one’s own life is brilliant. Donna Tartt takes you through the horrific and flawed year experienced by a group of college students through the lens of Richard Papen, who romanticizes the lives of terrible people. And only when you pull yourself out of his perspective you are able to see what is really going on.

𝑬 𝑨 𝑹 𝑳 𝒀 ● 𝑳 𝑰 𝑭 𝑬 | Charlie spends more time reading than anything else, most of this is done outside in the small forest near his house. He would constantly walk to the local café to get hot chocolate and occasionally a coffee for his mum. His mother is an artist and their quaint home is almost always covered in tarps and paintings, scattered across the floor. Because Charlie is the only child and his father is frequently away on business trips, he and his mother have a very close relationship; though, he does have a good relationship with his father when he is home. Charlie never had any conventional pets, but he has always had terrariums with loads of bugs and other small forest creatures.

Charlie has been curious since he could walk, he grew up exploring the forest near his house and later on the city of Oxford. When he was not able to go out and explore he would read about things he found interesting. One of Charlie’s favorite things to do is, when his father is not on a business trip, going out to the local café for breakfast and taking an extra pastry for lunch before heading into the forest together; after a day of exploring and collecting Charlie and his father will go to an elegant restaurant for supper.
P H Y S I C A LD E S C R I P T I O N | Charlie takes after his mother and has messy and wavy dark brown hair that he could keep under control if he tried. He is tall for his age, at 5’ 8’’, and quite thin, too. He is extremely pail and has a practically constant sunburn. Charlie’s vision is weak and he got glasses at an early age, he prefers a thin gold wire frame because it goes well with the formal way he likes to dress.
