Flying isn't as easy as it looks.
⋆ ˚。⋆୨ ʚɞ ୧⋆ ˚。⋆
She didn't like flying class too much. "Up! Up!" She shouted at the stubborn broomstick on the ground beside her feet. A few time's, the broom had decided to go up, and then back down once again onto the grass with a thud.
It was so annoying for her to try to get the flying thing down. Her hair was tucked behind her ear in a bun, so she could focus. Her overgrown bangs however defeated the purpose of doing that. She stomped on the ground, "Up you stupid broom!" she shouted. The broom halted up, then back down onto the grass. She wasn't one to give up, but she was about to. Her older brother and her father had been great at quidditch and broom riding, her younger brother not even at hogwarts getting there too. Then again, Oakleigh was quite afraid of brooms, and heights. She was always frightened about if's and what's.
What if she fell off and broke her arm? Had to stay in the hospital wing and miss lecture time! She hated doing schoolwork without having the lecture. What if she had gotten badly injured... or worse. It scared her more than she cared to think.
Almost giving up, she shouted at her broomstick one last time, hoping it would fly into her hand. "Up!" She demanded, the broom flying up into her hand. She was so giddy that she did a little jig to celebrate. She however, was not going to try to fly that broom.

Flying isn't as easy as it looks.
The girl hurried to her last lesson of the day. Flying! She had been looking forward to flying since she had first found out about it. She saw someone upon a broom, and as she got closer she realised that its must be the teacher. She looked around and saw some classmates were pointing up at her. The girl gathered with her classmates around the semi-circle of brooms, but she made sure she was in the front row so she could see everything. The girl grinned when the teacher introduced herself and noted on the fact she was American.
Following the teacher's instructions, the girl found a broom and chatted with the person next to her. Then the teacher called for silence and the class obliged. After the class had settled down the teacher explained the rules of flying. After that, it was time to use the broom. The girl quickly examined the broom to check if it was safe to fly. It was so the girl held her right hand above the broom and said softly “up.” The broom rose ten inches off the ground and fell back down. There was a pause before she spoke again. “Up!” She spoke as if she was talking to a dog. And it worked! The broom flew quickly into the girl's hand. The girl looked up grinning. She’s done it. She’d got a broom to fly up to her. She watched the person next to her and they seemed to be doing fine. The girl went back to her broom. “Up!” she spoke again, and the broom flew eagerly into her hand. The girl's smile radiated excitement and joy. She looked to the person to the other side of her. "Hiya, I'm Emiline. I see you can get the broom to go up too."

Flying isn't as easy as it looks.
*She walked into flying class nervously her palms sweaty with fear but she attempted to maintain a confident face while walking in.* *She shot through the hallways not worried about the teachers scolding her for running.* *She finally stumbled through a grand door much taller than her.* *She glanced at the professor nervously with fear.* “Sorry I’m late.” *she pressed her face and it was hot, most likely from fear.* *As she glanced at the broom worry suddenly filled her body from her feet to her head.* *Thoughts filled her brain, like “What if I can’t get it up?” “What if I can’t prove I’m just as good as my siblings?” *She suddenly realized she was talking her thoughts outloud, and glanced down at her broomstick.* *Finally after a lot of hesitation and confusion.* “Up!” *The broom shot into her hand as if it already trusted her.* *Maddie was stunned.* *She turned to the girl beside her.* “Hello Emeline, I’m Maddie a pleasure to meet you!” *She reached out her hand to shake hers.* “Seems as if we both have a knack for this!” *her face lit up for once, it seemed as if all the worry in the world had evaporated, she had found something she liked.* *Maybe she was just as talented as her siblings, she thought to herself in relief.*

Flying isn't as easy as it looks.
Charlie was quiet as he joined the other first years on the field. He had no idea what to expect,
coming from a muggle family, and had never even seen a broomstick before. As someone who usually kept to himself, Charlie stood next to the broom at the end of the line, as to be near the least amount of people, and patiently waited for instruction. He was amused at some of the attempts the other students were making to fly before the professor arrived. Charlie was relived to see that this class would be shared with the Ravenclaw’s, he respected their house and the only person he knew was in Ravenclaw.
Charlie saw the girl he knew and waved her over to the broom adjacent to him, she obliged
and happily made her way over.
”I have not seen you since the train, how has your first few days been?” Charlie asked.
The girl was about to respond when the professor began loudly scolding the few brave (and, in Charlie’s opinion, quite stupid) students who attempted to fly without instruction. Both of them remained silent, to avoid getting in trouble like the other students.
Charlie began to hold his hand over his broom and command it to go up, the broom flew into his hand on the seventh or eighth try,
he was still better off than most of the other students, including the girl next to him who did not manage to get her broom off the ground at all during the lesson.
All the best,
Charlie F. Wilde

Thoughts: italicsKatie stood amongst the first-years in flying class. Being a muggle-born, she was exhilarated that she could actually fly. And on a common household item like a broomstick. That thought amazed her. And yet, she was partially apprehensive. Did she really want to fly? To feel the wind through her hair? That part sounded grand. And yet, she’d be that much further away from the ground.
With a sigh, Katie stretched her arm out, above one of the school’s broomsticks. “Up!” She called out quietly, and the broom did not budge. She frowned, holding her hand out again. “Up,” she said more forcefully. The broom rose briefly and fell back down to the ground.
Ever since she arrived at Hogwarts, Katie realized that she tended to have issues with magic. Nothing seemed to come easily for her, and she had to work extra to perform at the same level as her peers. It was, truthfully, a weird feeling. Back home, she was in advanced courses. Here at Hogwarts, she felt foolish and silly.
Frowning, Katie stuck out her arm again above the broomstick. “Up!” She commanded the broom. It shot up into her hand. She giggled at her finally successful attempt. She could hear some of her classmates talking to each other after summoning their brooms. Her face flushed lightly, and she stood awkwardly. She was at least happy the broom listened to her.

She glanced over at Katie and realized she hadn't seen her around before. Suddenly her eyes darted to that green ugly snake on her robe. All of the sudden she didn't feel like talking to Katie at all. After a few dull moments in class of Maddie zoning out, she got so bored she decided to perk up the courage and talk to her.
She walked up to Katie and pushed away the scowl edging at the corners of her mouth. Instead she smiled and put out her hand to shake. "I see you're a first year as well." She couldn't stop her eyes darting to the Slytherin badge again. Oh what would her siblings or her dad think that she was talking to a Slytherin.
She brushed off some of the unwanted grass on her robe and stood next to Katie. Although she was always taught to resent Slytherin she couldn't help admiring Katie. She was likable, enjoyable, and seemed to do alright in most of her classes, which Maddie envied.

Thoughts: italicsLike always, Katie made sure to dress impeccably. Her uniform looked freshly pressed. Her white dress shirt was completely clean with no creases in sight. Slytherin tie looked even and tied tightly. Her skirt looked ironed, the ruffles looking accentuated. Her gray socks looked brand new. Her flats were polished. Her tulip earrings in Slytherin green and silver was freshly polished. Her Slytherin robes looked freshly pressed, too. Her brunette hair was tied back in a tight ponytail.
Katie felt her cheeks flush, as Maddie came over to her to talk. She was not a fan of talking during class, which just showed her classmates just how awkward and socially inept she was. “Yes, I am,” she responded quietly. She noticed Maddie looking at her Slytherin badge and frowned. She barely paid attention to the house rivalries. While she was aware of the tradition Slytherin house was known for, she’d very much rather the other students treat her the same as everyone else.
“You don’t have to talk to me, if you don’t want to. But, I guarantee that I’m not a bad person,” she whispered to Maddie, her cheeks flushing even brighter. She didn’t think she needed to justify herself.

Silver was standing there, nervous that she's not going to be able to fly, because she's muggle-born. She stood there, and finally built up the courage to try. She stuck her arm out and said, "Up." The broom wiggled on the ground a bit before flying up into her hand. "Huh, that's odd." Silver felt a bit startled by the sudden rise of the broom into her hand. But she just smiled and laughed it off.
Silver then noticed a brown haired girl right next to her. Silver thought, 'Huh, she looks nice, could I be friends with her? She could be my first friend and-' Silver gasped when she saw she was a Slytherin too. 'She's even a Slytherin!' Silver got really excited that maybe her first friend would be in the same house as her. she thought that it would be easy to become friends with her. She took a deep breath in, and out. She seemed like she was about to say something to her, but she got a bit nervous to. She thought, 'What if, she's one of the rude people in Slytherin and she just makes fun of me? No! That wouldn't happen.' She looked at her and waited for the other Slytherin to notice her, and look at her.

Thoughts: italicsKaitlyn let her blue eyes drop to her feet. She felt so awkward just standing there. ‘When is this class going to end? I already did what was asked of us. I was finally able to summon my broom. Are we also supposed to be flying today? I don’t think so since no one else is. But, gosh, do I feel awkward like this,’ she thought. Her hands started to absent-mindedly braid a few stray strands of her brunette hair that fell out of her ponytail. Social interaction did not come easily for her. As it was, she felt like a stone statue currently.
To be fair, Kaitlyn also felt bad. It was bad that she appeared to scare that Gryffindor girl. She didn’t know if she just had an imposing face or if it was just the Slytherin regalia on her uniform. As she was feeling bad for herself, she felt another presence looking at her. Darting her eyes around, she noticed another girl looking at her. This time, another Slytherin, who didn’t appear scared of her. ‘I hope that’s a good sign?’ She thought. “Hi,” she greeted the girl shyly. “I … um … I-I’m Kaitlyn,” she said to the girl, quietly, her stammer starting to show. Her blue eyes again looked back down at her feet. She was not used to talking randomly like this.

Silver smiled at her and said "Hi! I'm Silver." She was waiting and smiling until she noticed something about Kaitlyn facial expression. She seemed to notice that Kaitlyn looked a bit nervous, so she then said "Hey, you look nervous. Is something wrong?" She tilted her head a bit waiting for her response.
Silver was a very social and understanding person. So she stayed calm, and didn't try to move around as much because she didn't want to startle Kaitlyn. She was all smiley and upbeat just a second ago, but now she's just trying to look calm and understanding. Silver thought that Kaitlyn had social anxiety, and if she did, she could try to become friends with her, then try to help her with her social anxiety. Silver sometimes got confused on why she was in Slytherin, because most of the time, it's just trouble makers in the Slytherin house, and Silver is kind, caring, loyal, and more. Silver looked at her broom, and some other people then back at Kaitlyn again. It started getting a bit awkward to her because she is not used to such a slow reply. Silver saw that Kaitlyn looked like she was about to speak, so she tilted her head again.
