It was a frigid winter morning the holidays have gone and past, but winter break was still weighing heavily in the air.

The Rose manor stood tall over the vast courtyard that rested in front of the dark gothic style manor. Snow had fallen the night prior covering the ground in a thick blanket of pale white glistening snow.

The hums and soft melody of what birds stayed during the winter season graced the fairly large manor.

Inside the manor, fireplaces were lit sending the scent of burning cedar wood wafting through the air. The early morning atmosphere was rather hush and tense. Sebastian Rose had left earlier that morning to tend to work business. Leaving Inessa Rose and young Helena alone at home.

Though it was only seven in the morning Helena was already awake. The golden haired girl had barely any sleep. The holidays were rather restless and the young girl seemed to have trouble sleeping.

It felt every time she had closed her eyes she could see a certain ravenette haired girl sauntering around her mind. Of course Helena hated to admit she missed Remedy’s presence even though the two were complete opposites. The young golden haired girl could not help but feel herself drowning in guilt.

Even her home situation did not help her out much either. Ever since she had arrived home her father barely spoke to the young girl let alone give her eye contact. Of course Helena understood why she had befriended those who were not pureblooded along with being sorted into Hufflepuff; it was as if she had driven a knife down her fathers pride.

On the other hand Inessa was fairly kind trying to spend time with her only child which was off for Helena. The young girl was used to her mothers love in a sense but not used to getting attention which seemed to unsettle the young girl slightly.

Blinking softly Helena gazed softly at her reflection with an exhausted expression the young girl could not help but rub her face slightly. Her usually full of life ocean blue eyes looked dull and exhausted with a storm of confusing and mixed feelings pooling inside them. Her skin was almost a sickly pale color but not enough to cause concern. The girls usually silky golden hair was a mess sticking up on all ends as if she had not brushed her hair in a few days.

Helena had to admit she was not really keeping up with her appearance; she after all was on break, but that did not seem to stop her from scowling at her appearance.

A soft sigh broke through the girls pale lips as she grabbed a soft honey yellow brush slowly trying to untangle her mop of a head.

Once again Helena zone out her mind wandering off as it tended to do when she was in one of these states.

Her mind wandered towards a certain ravenette again. Wondering how the other girl was doing and what she was up to? Of course Helena had a christmas present that she was too afraid to send off to the other girl which most likely just lay on her dresser until she got the nerve to even try and send it. Why did Helena even get the other girl a present even though she did not know well she knew that the other girl may like it but at the same time with the situation it was possible it would backfire and Helena felt best to just cower in her fear for the time being.

A soft knock interrupted Helena from her thoughts. Startling the girl slightly as she dropped her brush from her right hand landing on the soft lime green carpet with a thud. Bending down Helena went to pick it up.

The door cracked open slightly as Inessa Rose poked her head through the doorway. The older womans soft golden almost blonde hair rested up nicely atop of the womans head in a soft updo bun. The older woman's seafoam salt water eyes seemed to hold love towards her daughter as she smiled softly.

β€œLena dearie do you have a moment?”

Inessa spoke softly in her poise tone slowly inching into Helena’s bedroom. Watching the young girl.

Caught off guard Helena grabbed her brush. As she went to stand up the young girl slammed her head onto her vanity grumbling softly rubbing the back of her head. Stumbling backwards the golden haired girl stood up straight rubbing her head softly.

Gazing up towards her mother Helena gave Inessa a soft tired smile nodding her head softly. Awaiting for her mother to continue to why she had intruded and what possibly be a reason for her to even come and speak to her.

Helena felt her stomach drop slightly as she continued to gaze softly at her mother.

β€œHow about we sit down and talk?”

Inessa spoke softly. The older woman walked over towards Helena’s canopy bed sitting a top of it patting down beside.

Helena felt her heart race as she moved towards her mother sitting beside the older woman glancing towards her a bit unsure. Awaiting for the woman to continue.

Inessa smiled softly, a look of thought crossed her calm appearance before she smiled softly towards Helena.

β€œHelena dear, we need to speak about a serious topic. First and foremost I want to state that what I am about to say is not your fault. Your father and I love you so very much my little miracle. But I am afraid the love your father and I once had is no longer there. We have decided for better and worse to get a divorce. But rest assured everything will be alright I promise.”

Inessa spoke softly, making her statement straight to the point for the young girl.

Helena’s heart raced quickly hearing the pounding in her ears. The young girl sat still for a bit trying to process the words of her mother. Of course her mother would claim it was not her fault but was that even the truth?

Glancing softly at Inessa all Helena could do was nod her head silently in understanding.

Gently patting the golden haired girl's head softly Inessa began to walk out the door before silently making her leave.

As the door made a soft click sound Helena stared blankly ahead of her the golden haired girl felt her world crashing around her she had no idea what to do or even how to react. What would any normal twelve year old react to this situation?!

Breaking out of her trance Helena jumped off her bed rushing towards her desk grabbing a piece of parchment and a quill. The young girl knew one person who could at least give insight for this situation and the only person she could really trust. None other than the only other girl she knew that had divorced parents was Rebbecca Lark.

Dear Bex,
I do hope your holidays have been great so far? I am writing today to simply ask for help? As you know life has been a roller coaster. Get this now my parents are getting divorced?! Ironic is it not? After the past couple months with the grindylows and of course the um situation with Remedy. Seems life is either teaching me a lesson or trying to make me suffer both really. Anyways I really need your help and advice. What should I do? Is their anything I can do? I mean i am utterly hopeless right now. Bex please I have no idea what to do I need help? What does somebody do when their life is falling apart?

Sincerely Helena Rose.

Helena sighed softly before sneaking out of her room to use one of her parents' owls to send off a letter to a certain brunette haired girl.

Once she had sent off her parent owl with the letter to Bex the young girl made her journey back to her room.

Helena sighed wondering to herself what else could happen? Nothing worse could happen today that was for sure. Or would it get it worse?
