Janneke carries herself with optimism and confidence, though both are child-like in nature and not necessarily realistic. Her eyes are warm and inviting, and a wonder-filled smile is most commonly seen on her face. Though she is larger than other girls her age, it is not because she is unhealthy. She is a swift runner and can take a punch, though not able to throw one herself.

Janneke (pronounced yah-nuh-kuh) was born in Bygrave, England to a muggleborn wizard named Robert and a half-blood witch named Monique. She has two older brothers: Dorian and Vincent.
Robert, born and raised in England, went to Hogwarts as a Gryffindor. Monique was Dutch with French and Iranian history, and her wizard father's side of the family had a tradition of going to Beauxbatons and so she went as well. They didn't meet until their 30s, when Monique traveled to London's magical community. Robert worked in the Ministry of Magic, in the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures department. They fell in love, and married. Monique moved to England with Robert, and together they moved to the village of Bygrave. A year later, they had their first child: Dorian. Two years later, they had another child, who they named Vincent. Finally, three years later they had their third and final child: Janneke, named after Monique's sister.
The Swanns lived on the outskirts of the village, so Robert and Monique were free to use their magic for most of the time. However, since Robert was Muggleborn, he knew how to hide magic from Muggles if they had visitors. Janneke and her brothers would play in the fields around their home, pretending to be powerful wizards battling each other. Of course they never actually used magic; they would just pick up sticks and use them as "wands" and shout gibberish for "spells". There were times when Dorian would go a little too rough on Janneke and would end up hurting her, which soured their relationship as they grew.
When Janneke was five, Dorian received his letter for Hogwarts. He had been anticipating it, and the whole family went to Diagon Alley to shop for him. Janneke didn't think much about when she'd go to Hogwarts; she just enjoyed the sights of the alley and would point to the pretty animals. He went to Hogwarts, and would often send letters of his time there. He was sorted into Gryffindor like his father had, which made Robert very proud.
When Vincent was coming of age, he was more interested in following his mother's family traditions and wanted to go to Beauxbatons. His mother was honored, and helped him with picking the school so Hogwarts wouldn't enroll him instead.
Finally, three years later, it was Janneke's turn. She had wanted to go to Hogwarts like Dorian, and so when she turned eleven she recieved the letter welcoming her.

¤ Relations ¤
- Robert Swann. A muggleborn wizard born and raised in England, Mr. Swann played a big part in Janneke's excitement surrounding magic. He taught her to not take it for granted, and that there are many things magic can do but can easily be done without it as well. He works for the Ministry of Magic, in the Department for the Regulation and Control of Magical Creatures. His coworkers describe him as professional and to the point, but his family knows him as a warm and comforting man.
- Monique Swann. A half-blood witch born in the Netherlands, Mrs. Swann was where most of Janneke's knowledge about miscellaneous subjects such as wands and everyday chore spells came from. She was a stay-at-home mother while the children grew up, but once they started going to school she got a job at the Daily Prophet. She is quiet but loving and has always shown pride in her children.
- Dorian Swann. Janneke's eldest brother, Dorian is currently a sixth year Gryffindor. He is athletic and friendly, though he can be hot-headed and rough. Growing up, he and Janneke would occasionally get into play-wrestling fights, but he often ended up being to aggressive and would hurt her. She ended up resenting him for that, but still loves him as a brother.
- Vincent Swann. Vincent and Janneke were the closest of the three Swann children. He was much more quiet and reserved than Dorian and even Janneke. He was always incredible at chess, and Janneke used to joke that he should play it professionally like a sport. Unlike his siblings, he goes to school at Beauxbatons.
- Jennifer Rome. They met in Diagon Alley before the school began, and Janneke ended up showing off some wand knowledge she knew from her mother. They were two first years eager for Hogwarts, and they bonded over that.
Nemesis - Someone Janneke cannot stand being in the same room as; she will become very restless and agitated, wanting to either leave or confront.
Enemy - Janneke is not as hostile to her enemies as her nemesis, but she gets very uncomfortable while around them and will want to leave as soon as possible.
Dislike/Distrust - Though Janneke does not like being in the same room as them, she can handle it. She just avoids them as much as she can.
Neutral - Someone's Janneke has just met. She doesn't know them well enough; she probably won't remember their name next time they meet unless something stands out about them to her.
Acquaintance - Janneke considers someone an acquaintance when they've spoke a couple times, but haven't really grown close to. Mostly classmates and dorm mates who she doesn't speak with outside class or their dorm.
Friend - Janneke speaks to friends outside of their class or dorm, walking with them between class and talking about things that doesn't have to relate to Hogwarts or magic.
Close Friend - Janneke will approach her close friends with enthusiasm and excitement. She loves talking to them and wants to know as much as she can about them... without being annoying, of course.
Respect - Those Janneke respects don't have to necessarily be friends, or even know them personally. She can respect those who make a name for themselves on the Quidditch field or Prefects and Head Boy/Girl. Those who excel in her classes she will look up to as well, and she will come to them for homework help even before her friends.
Crush - Janneke finds both girls and boys cute. Being a child, her attraction doesn't go far past "I think you're cute and funny, let's hang out often!"
Familial Love - Janneke believes that you should love at least your closest family unconditionally. Even Dorian, who she sometimes has quarrels with, she will stand up for him if need be.
