| ─── | It was the start of the new school year again.
Today was Saturday, September 9th, 2023, exactly one week after classes started for the new semester. Tone thought it was about time to hold a study group once again. It was for anyone who wanted to join, there were no restrictions. All he wanted was to be able to do his homework and help others do theirs. Or provide some company for those who wanted to be around people while doing homework. Tone had put up posters on the bulletin board to let other students know about the study group he was holding for anyone interested in it. The poster had stated what it was, the date, time and place. It had been a rather simple advertisement. The blue haired teen had put his nickname down on it too, which was Tone. The location was the smaller building to the right of the main palace, connected to the latter by a long hallway. Tone had reserved two hours inside one of the large rooms in the building and hoped some people would show up. Even if they didn't, at least it would be available to them and he could do his own homework there. So it wouldn't be a complete waste even if no one showed up there. Still, it would be better if at least one person showed up now. They all had to study didn't they? Why not do it with someone else? Or with a group of people who were doing the same thing together. Over the years, it had become popular. Study groups. They promoted a sense of comradery between students. So, Tone believed this year would work just as well as the past few years had. The only question was how many would show up this time? The blue haired teen had set up some tables together and added some tea and biscuits to one of the tables, so those who entered could help themselves before settling down to study. On each table there was an area to place your parchment paper, quills and inkwells and your books and notebooks, giving enough ample space. To do things without feeling cramped. Everything was set up, all that remained were the students. |

Mahoutokoro's Study Group Club!
A study group? Why, that was one of Hadashi's favorite things!
Studying on your own is an intimate affair, and perhaps more peaceful and private. But there truly was no better way to study than with a group.
Hadashi walked into the room, and found Tone-kun was the only one there at the moment. Odd, Hadashi had expected Shimizu-kun at least to show up. But, perhaps Hadashi was simply there before him.
His gold robes adorned his body, something that Hadashi was not about to let slip away. With these grades and the golden robes, he was the pride of his entire family. And he wasn't going to lose them.
No matter how much fun and enjoyment he had to put aside to maintain his grades.
Hadashi felt the sting of regret that he had begun experiencing more and more often lately. His grades were perfect, and he was top in his class. He had all but proven that one's blood status is nothing but meaningless pomp. He had gold robes, and had accomplished what he had set out to do in school.
But the question that always seemed to bubble to the surface, did once again.
Is this TRULY what you want?
As he always did, Hadashi pushed this thought away. Of course its what he wanted. Maintaining gold robes was a massive step forward to being the Japanese Minister of Magic.
But are you enjoying yourself? Or are you making yourself miserable through your whole school life to get the best paved road to your career?"
Hadashi gritted his teeth, and slid on the mask of polite indifference he always put on around people who he had to maintain an image with. Namely, Tone, Shimizu, Shamsi, and that insufferable-
No. We don't think like that.
"Ah, Tone-kun. Thank you for setting this up. Is anyone else planned to arrive?"
Hadashi set a stack of books down and sat himself. These upcoming exams would be no joke, and the faster he can commit to memory everything involved, the better he would feel about doing them.

Interacting with @Kim Sato
Hadashi's speech is still blue because Gold is hard to see on this background, and navy blue kind of became synonymous with Hadashi speaking to me.
