Homecoming date
The ute pulled onto the long drive up to the farmhouse, which Julia smiled at. She'd only been gone for a couple months but her childhood home gave her feelings of warmth and safety. Her father, Oscar, sped up now that they were on their own property and quickly pulled into one of the spaces set aside for the cars to park in. Before her feet had even hit the gravel underfoot, Naomi was barrelling out of the house and knocking Julia over.
"Ireallywantedtocomeandgetyou, but mum said I had to stay in the house and help her get stuff ready and that I would be able to see you when you got here."
The whole family had travelled to drop Julia off at the station in September, and Naomi had complained the entirety of the two hour journey. No matter how much she loved her sister, she wasn't sure if she could deal with it all again.
When Naomi let go, Julia reached out to her mother for a hug. Alice Jenkins was dressed in a flour covered apron, and although it appeared that she'd washed her face, a dusting of flour remained in her hair.
Julia had only brought a small suitcase with her to Christmas, which mainly contained her family's christmas gifts. She tugged the trunk out of the back tray of the ute and followed her family inside.
Now inside her room, she closed the door and slid the lock into place so no one could come inside and see their Christmas presents. Then she unpacked what little clothing and items she'd brought, before relocking the trunk, leaving her wand inside it- she wasn't taking any chances with the Ministry of Magic.

Merry Christmas 25.12.23
Julia was woken up by Naomi jumping up and down on her bed. She rubbed her bleary eyes and glanced around the dark room, eyes landing on the clock. When they refocused, she read the time- '4:56'. By now her father would've done the jobs, as he always did on Christmas Day.
She pulled herself out of bed, habitually pulling on a robe as she did when she went into the Gryffindor Common Room.
The past few months at hogwarts had changed her sleep schedule, and waking up at 4:30am the past few days had taken some getting used to.
The Christmas tree in the living room was large and shiny, with a large pile of presents stacked underneath. Everything was colour coordinated- thanks to their mother no doubt. Julia could already see that any green wrapping paper with gold Christmas trees was labelled for her.

The family opened their gifts, exclaiming over the everything they'd received. Julia prided herself on being a great gift giver, so she was happy when Naomi was happy with her Exploding Snap- which they would no doubt play for hours later.

She gave both of her parents books she had found at King's Cross, her mother one on cooking, and her father one on farming. She had known that he had started a smaller garden in near the house which her mother was tending to, so she had added a couple of seedling packets to plant.

As for herself, her parents had given her a necklace with a J on it. She had also been given a horse candle which was promptly lit.

She gave her family hugs and thanked them for her presents, and they went off to eat the breakfast her mother had made with the fresh chook eggs her father had gotten that morning.
