| ─── | It was that time of year again.
Today was Friday, September 1st, 2023 and it was time for the new influx of first years to arrive. For many first years, this wouldn't be their first time at Mahoutokoro. The school was unique amongst its counterparts due to one main reason. They were one of the only schools that allowed students age 7 and up to take classes before they became official students at the wizarding school. Once a youngster showed signs of doing their first magic, and were at least 7 years of age, their families were sent an invitation to have their child start at Mahoutokoro by enrolling in their day program. A mini potted cherry blossom tree would appear in the student's home, along with a special invitation. The leaves of the cute tree would remain pink. Until the time they officially became first years. That in itself was a little confusing as the year the student would first attend the day program was not considered to be their 'first year'. Their first year would only start once they obtained their wand and that didn't happen until they turned at least 11 and began to board at the school. For muggle families, one of the teachers from the school would bring the plant with them and explain everything in person to them, including the giant storm petrels that would take the students up to Mahoutokoro's main palace. The thing was, the day program and the main palace and classes were different. Yes, there were some similarities but there were also a lot of differences too. Therefore, it was still a very exciting time for students, even if they did happen to have been part of the day program before. The nearly fourteen year old (September 15th, he'll turn fourteen) was sporting bright blue hair this year. It really popped to the eyes and made it possible for students to spot him from a million miles away, which was one of the main reasons why he'd chosen that color. Tone wanted all the first years to see him because he was essentially serving as a welcome committee for them! Of course, it wasn't in an official sense, at least not yet. Tone was just doing this because he wanted to, not because he had any ulterior motives... like making friends with everyone. Regardless of his intentions, he waited for the storm petrels to show up and deliver the new first years to Mahoutokoro's island paradise. He'd welcome them, answer any questions they might have and then send them on their way to welcome the rest of the new students. Later on, he'd seek them all out and see how they were doing afterward. See if they needed help, short tours, advice etc... it would be a great way to make new friends and to keep himself busy at the same time. Who would be the 1st one to show up today? Would any of the older students join him? Or would it just be the newer students? Only time would tell. Tone was looking forward to the opening ceremony later that night where the new students would be given their official enchanted school robes. It was always lovely to see them marvel at them. |

Please refer to Mahoutokoro lore to read more about Mahoutokoro, its students and everything else you need to know about being a student! I know it's hard to keep track of everything written there, so I kind of condensed it into post form. It makes it easier to remember this way imo. I'll be going through most of the info regarding the education and location settings listed there in post format to make it more fun to read as my posts continue! Essentially, if you have questions, you can always ask Tone and he'll let you know the answers! Sometime this upcoming week, I'll also be starting some open threads regarding study groups, and clubs Tone's in that people can join too! He's a very friendly boy, so don't be afraid to ask him questions IC! This thread is focused on all new first years to Mahoutokoro in the year 2023 but is also open to any older years too who might want to join Tone in welcoming new students!
