History/Background Story :
The Coldwells are a small but wealthy family, whose funds have contributed to many recent magical architectural projects. Borne of a muggle mother, Briar's immediate relatives largely disapprove of her, as her presence has muddied the family bloodline.
Despite Briar's half-blooded nature, her grandmother and aunt took her in and raised her with rigid standards of perfection, deciding that her father was unfit to be her guardian.
There was a time when she voiced a desire to live with her now estranged birth parents, but she was met with strict opposition for reasons as of yet unknown to her.
Not being one to stray off the course her family lay out for her, she accepted the burden of attending Hogwarts without much of a fuss.
Briar is a soft-spoken, refined young lady with a penchant for isolating herself, due in part to her upbringing. She's never been particularly outgoing, and her awkward reticence can easily be mistaken for rudeness. Briar has a desire to be liked by her professors without being seen as a sycophant, and dislikes receiving special attention because of her wealth.
She excels at potions and jinxes, but struggles with transfiguration and is particularly terrible at flying.

Ingrid Whitmoor : (mother) ↠ A muggle woman whom Briar knows very little about. On the few occasions she's seen and spoken with her father, he remained elusive about the details. Her family has sometimes referred to Ingrid as a "woman of the night," but Briar isn't sure what what means.
Charlie Coldwell : (father) ↠ Only son of Imogene, he was shunned by the wizarding family following Briar's birth. He's allowed to see Briar every few years, normally for quinquennial birthdays. Though he remains on the outskirts of the family's inner circle, Charlie is a relatively successful businessman, managing both muggle and wizarding accounts.
Imogene Coldwell : (grandmother) ↠ A staunchly proud pureblood, Imogene was known to mutter a few good words about the Dark Lord back in the day. Despite her vocal repulsion with her son's choices, she and her daughter Agnes adopted Briar, refusing to allow Charlie to raise her.
Imogene is a bitter, hard to please woman. Though she isn't a particularly powerful witch, she takes charge of most of the Coldwell family's business affairs.
Agnes Coldwell : (aunt) ↠ Charlie's only sibling and younger sister, Agnes tends to be the slightly less imposing of the two when it comes to parenting Briar. A devoted potioneer, she began teaching Briar how to brew at an early age in her shop. Though not entirely cruel, Agnes isn't particularly loving towards Briar, either.
