No Noise!
Minnie was holding her ears, trying to mute the loud noise of the common room. She was trying to study, but couldn't find a quiet place to do it. Why? Why can't I study? She thought, frustrated. Her Charms homework was due tomorrow and she couldn't do her homework. "Why!" She whispered to herself. She grabbed her stuff. I can't do my homework like this. She thought. I think I'll go to the study room. She then walked out of the common room.
On the stairs she was surrounded by the noise of students. It was a lazy Saturday afternoon, and everyone was talking. Just ignore them. Go one floor up and you'll be in a quiet place. She thought desperately.
She arrived at the study hall, expecting quiet, but was sadly mistaken. The room was full of chattering kids. They were talking about school related things, but it was still noisy. "What does a girl have to do to get some peace and quiet?" She muttered, annoyed. "This is really annoying. Maybe I should get a professor to quiet them down." She continued talking to herself. Only on the last straw Minnie. And stop talking to yourself! It looks weird. She shook herself. Now was not the time for self pity. She needed a way to get quiet.

No Noise!
Inara was trying to study in the study hall but everybody was being super loud so she decided to head back to her common room, which was usually pretty quiet. She was about to leave until she saw somebody who seemed to have a similar problem. "Hello, I'm Inara" She said, introducing herself. "Are you having problems finding a quiet place to study?" She was about to suggest the Ravenclaw common room, but she looked at the person's robes and found that they were yellow, so Hufflepuff. "Why don't you try the library?" She suggested. "The Library should be quiet". Inara wasn't even sure the person could hear her over the chatter. In her mind, she made a mental note to never use the study hall again. Well... she decided to give it another go, as most people were leaving. In a few short minutes, the hall was silent and also empty except for a few people, but they weren't being loud or anything. Satisfied, Inara sat down and began studying. Not that she actually had anything to study.. she hadn't started the classes yet. More just looking over the textbooks so she would be ready for her classes. She didn't know how long she sat there... an hour maybe? She didn't look up until she heard the creaking of a chair.

"Thank you, but the library was quite loud and I got-well I got stuck in a book. It was very good!" Minnie was talking, mostly against her will, to the girl who had tried to help her. Why did I agree to Lil to try and make some friends? She thought. "So, what are you studying for? I was doing my charms homework. It's so dry, I haven't finished it in the hour I've been trying. Could you maybe help me if you're not busy? You seem like the smart type-especially since you're a Ravenclaw. Ravenclaws are always very smart." She tried to explain her reasoning. I shouldn't have done this. I feel like an idiot. But I did promise Lil, even if she did think she was telling a future Slytherin, not a future Hufflepuff. But I'll try for Lil, and maybe one day they'll forgive me and we'll laugh about this. But now I need to make friends. She blinked and focused on her task. "How is the homework? I think it's terrible and I've been seeing it over break for a while." Oh, that might have seemed confusing. She thought. "My sister Lil goes here. I'm a pureblood see. I-so the homework?" Minnie started to blush. I really am terrible with people.

Inara listened to Minnie speak for a while, then answered, "I've been studying for charms too! I just started the classes today!" , "Of course I could help you if you want me too!" Inara noticed that Minnie seemed to be a bit flustered, so she asked, "Why don't we start on the homework?". Taking out some parchment and her quills, she gestured for Minnie to come sit at the table she was working at. She started working. While she was working she decided to ask about Minnie's Sister Lil. "So, your sister, Lil, what house is she in?". She immediately felt guilty for asking.. what if that was a sensitive subject for Minnie? Trying to change the subject, she asked, "So what's your favorite class so far?", "My favorite is Charms, though I'm not a big fan of the homework either, I thought the lesson was super fun though!". "What wood is your wand made out of?". Inara realized she was rambling so she stopped talking, hoping she hadn't offended Minnie with her questions. Inara glanced down at her paper and continued with her homework. The room was silent except for the scratching of quills. Inara wondered what time it was.. were they supposed to be at their common rooms already? Looking up, Inara asked Minnie, "Do you know what time it is?".

Minnie smiled. Maybe she's bad at talking to people too! Then she reprimanded herself. That's not good. Just answer her questions. Minnie took a deep breath. "Lil, my sister, is in Slytherin. Thanks for asking. And right now, don't judge me, but..." She giggled, realizing what her favorite class was. "Well it's a bit of a traditional Hufflepuff thing, but my favorite class is Herbology. And my wand is made of cherry wood and has a snallygaster heartstring." She took another breath. I hope I'm not overloading her. She looked at her watch. "It's around 5:30 pm. And thanks for helping me with my homework, I really appreciate it." Minnie looked at Inara, hoping she wasn't completely overwhelmed with her talking.
At least we have one thing in common. We both are people who like studying. I wonder if she would like the facts I can tell her. I guess I can try one out. She cleared her throat nervously. "I have a cool fact about Hogwarts." She started. "Hogwarts was founded around 990 a.d.! Isn't that so cool?" Then Minnie looked back into her homework, hoping she hadn't made a fool of herself. Please like the fact. I can't lose this chance for a study buddy!
