History/Background Story: Muriel was born to a muggle father and a witch mother who lived in a cottage on the outskirts of the small town of Aviemore, Scotland. Her muggle father worked as a herbalist who owned his own greenhouse, and her mother worked as a Healer at St. Mungo's hospital. Overall, Muriel's family was rather isolated as any other relatives on either side were either dead or lived too far away to ever visit. Nevertheless, they were a small but happy family.
For fun as a child, Muriel enjoyed hill-walking and practiced gardening by helping her father care for his greenhouse. She also became interested in music and story-telling; she learned how to play the clarinet and performed at several local concerts in town, and would always eagerly listen to any of her mother's stories about her years at Hogwarts, hoping to one day tell her stories of her own years.
On top of all this, Muriel developed a huge imagination, which caused her to daydream often and wander off whenever an interesting idea struck her. This sometimes ended up getting her into some trouble, including falling in a river, getting lost in some woods, and even climbing up a mountain some ways. Interestingly enough, Muriel was never traumatized by any of these events, and instead saw them as fun little journeys.
As she got older, both of her parents knew that she'd follow in their footsteps. Muriel was always fascinated in watching her father treat muggles using his greenhouse herbs, and was in even more awe whenever she got the chance to follow her mother to the hospital and watch her use magical spells and potions on her patients. Although she was never allowed to help, Muriel was always by one of parents' sides, quietly watching and absorbing everything.
When she finally got her letter to Hogwarts, Muriel was both ecstatic and nervous. She couldn't wait to learn everything about the magical world like her mother did, but also feared it all at the same time. The castle was outstandingly huge to her, and the amount people inside were simply overwhelming compared to the tiny town she left. At the Sorting Ceremony, she had no idea what house would be best for her, but was happy that the hat knew just that. Now, she is slowly adjusting to her new home and hopes to learn as much as she can in order to become a Healer like her mother.
