In Need of a Courtyard Companion
It was Sylvee's first time in the courtyard. She had a free period after breakfast that day and decided to check it out.
She smiled as a light breeze caused her hair to blow into her face. Sylvee pulled back her platinum-blonde hair and sat down on a nearby bench. She sort of wanted to start a conversation with someone, but she felt awkward doing so.
Instead, she looked around, taking in the sights around her. The magic at Hogwarts never ceased to amaze her.
She noticed now, however, that she was surrounded by multiple small groups of friends, all chatting amongst themselves. Sylvee, feeling out of place, busied herself with taking her art pad out and sketching whatever came to mind first. That just so happened to be a tree not too far away. As she began doing drawing, however, a laughing group of friends sat down at its roots. Annoyed, Sylvee shoved her unfinished drawing into her bag, crossing her arms.
This is dumb. Why am I like this? she thought to herself.
Sylvee was still new and, not being the most sociable person, had not gone out of her way to speak to anyone, therefore not making any friends. If only someone would start a conversation with me, she thought to herself glumly.

Nick's Speaking | Nick's Thinking
Nick was so tired. He had only 2 hours of sleeping in the night before (Charms homework was enormous). He also was thinking about the future lesson of Flying with some fear as he had no energy inside him. He also didn't have any breakfast as he slept it over and now was rather hungry. Suddenly he realised that he had no energy to continue walking to the Flying Pitch so he sat down on a brench and noticing no girl sitting on it. Nick was feeling so badly... But after sitting for some time he realised rather sympathetic girl sitting on the same bench with him and caring a notebook with some beautiful pictures and looking around her... Nick felt confused. He sat down on a busy brench with no asking for a premission. "I'm sorry, may I sit here. I felt badly as I slept for 2 hours and had no breakfast... And also my next lesson is Flying so I'm afraid I won't be able to do something. But now I'm feeling better..." said Nick still confused but a smile appeared on his lips. "Hm, she looks bored. And she need a person to talk to, for sure. I think I'll be late on my Flying lesson anyway and I also don't really wanna go there. So I can stay here and talk to her... I think it can be interesting, yeah" Nick thought. "What's your name? And what's your house? And are you from the first course?" Nick said. He stopped confusing but a smile was still on his face.

In Need of a Courtyard Companion
As she had been sitting on the bench, sulking about, a boy came to sit next to Sylvee.
"I'm sorry, may I sit here? I felt badly, as I slept for 2 hours and had no breakfast... And also my next lesson is Flying so I'm afraid I won't be able to do something. But now I'm feeling better..."
Sylvee shrugged, which the boy didn't seem to notice, as he began to pepper her with questions.
"What's your name? And what's your house? And are you from the first course?"
Sylvee rolled her eyes out of the view of the boy. "Slow down, buddy!" she exclaimed, slightly exasperated already. "Excited as you may be to make new friends, there's no need to rush it! For your information, however, my name is Sylvee Evans, a first-year, muggle-born, Slytherin witch. What about you? Also, didn't you say you had Flying soon?"
Sylvee studied the boy sitting beside her. He had ruffled black hair and sharp green eyes that reminded her of the glittering emeralds you would always see at jewelry stores in the muggle world. She wondered how he could function on two hours of sleep and no breakfast. Sylvee knew that she would just stop functioning were she in this boy's situation.
"Oh, yeah. I have an extra roll of bread from breakfast. Do you want it?" Sylvee offered, rummaging through her bag. She didn't know why she was being so nice to this boy. She didn't know him. Maybe it was simply because she silently admired the strength he had to still function on such little sleep and nutrition. She would never admit it, though.

Nick's Speaking | Nick's Thinking
"Well, her reaction on my introduction was quite nervous. It's not good. Well" Nick thought meanwhile. "My name is Nick. I'm first year too and... I'm also muggleborn. And I'm form Hufflepuff... And, hm, as for my Flying lesson... I think I'll skip it as I have no ideas how I'll be able to fly with no energy..." Nick said trying to create a cheerful smile on his face but soon understood that it's too difficult for his body. "Yes, I'd take the food as I really need to eat... You know it's necessary for me to eat. Thank you very much for your help! Idk what would I do without you!" Nick answered Sylvee and started eating the roll of bread. Nick spent only a half of minute for eating it as he was really hungry. "Thank you very much!" Nick repeated. "She's nice. She gave me this food. It's nice, really" Nick thought.
Now Nick could check everything around them. Some groups of students where talking to each other all over the courtyard. They all looked nice. And Also it was an amazing landscape there. "Wow, it's so cool here. What a landscapes" Nick thought. He had never sit there for a long time as he usually went through the courtyard rather quickly. So now he was rather shocked by all this beauty. "Wow! What a landscapes! I saw you were painting before I interupted you... Sorry, maybe, I can take a look?.. Don't know why, but I enjoy different landscapes and pictures..." Nick said being a little bit confused.

Sylvee froze. "Oh, um..."
Sylvee nearly never let others look at her drawings. She would only show them to her cats, with rare exceptions. Should she show it to this boy, Nick? What's the worst that could happen? she thought to herself.
"Yeah, sure, I guess," Sylvee replied as she dug the slightly crumpled piece of paper back out of her bag and turned it to face the boy. Why am I being so weird right now?! she thought. Boys. They do something strange to your brain. She gave an almost imperceptible shake of her head.
"So you said you were Muggle-born too?" Sylvee stated, more as a question, really. "Where did you grow up? What's your family like?" Sylvee quickly changed the subject after briefly showing Nick the paper, then pushed it back down into her bag. She kind of hoped that this subject change wouldn't make her need to share anything about herself, as Sylvee did not particularly like talking about herself. However, if it moved the topic away from talking about her art, then she was satisfied. Sylvee also couldn't help but wonder how this boy had grown up if he thought that skipping classes was acceptable, two hours of sleep or otherwise. Had she skipped while back at home, her parents (and siblings) would never have let her forget it.

Nick's Speaking | Nick's Thinking
Nick looked at the picture Sylvee showed him and were fascinated by it. It was rather beautiful and Nick realised that he'd like to draw as cool as the girl did. "Wow! It's cool" Nick said. He looked around and saw the tree which was drawn in the Sylvee's picture. The picture was really cool! Nick answered to the questions "Well. I lived in Plymouth with my father. My mum left me after my birth and I don't know where does she live. And my dad is an only person close to me. We're a poor family. And I don't know what to say more. I lived in rather tough surroundings..." Nick remembered some moments from his previous life. "And what about you?" Nick thought about the flying lesson he's skipping now. "Well. Of course, it's wrong to skip lessons. It's always wrong. But actually I'm hungry and I'm sitting here and it's so good. Hm, I'm fine. yeah". "And do you have any lessons? Are you in hurry?"
Nick thought of future lesson he gonna have this day. Herbology gonna be something interesting, he skipped the previous lesson as he was too tired after the previous Flying lesson. So, now he was looking forward to it. And he also thought of the History of Magic lesson. It was really boring to stay there on the previous lesson. Nick thought that it can be skipped by him... But it could be rude, so Nick decided to go there.
